cleaning house

Josh went to Silver Dollar City yesterday with Karl's mom, dad and cousins, so Karl and I used that time to get the Christmas things put away and I cleaned house. I still want to clean some more things like the catch all areas, Karl's desk and the kitchen bar are catch all areas in our house. I need to get those cleaned up. I started washing the curtains last night. I have the curtains in our room left and I will be done. Karl is sleeping, so when he wakes up I will get started. I want to get this stuff done before I go back to work.
I made the dogs more cookies last night, Darylynn, freezing the dough was fine, I let it thaw and then used my cookie cutters and baked. It turned out good. The dogs were excited.
The weather here is wonderful, near 60 and they are saying Saturday it will be 65. I am excited. The temperature is dropping on Sunday, but only to the 40's, so no big deal.
I got my teacher certification yesterday. The university said it would take 6-8 weeks, but I have it, so I got that stuff sent to the school I work for so they can update my file. Glad thhat is taken care of.
We do not have any special plans for New Year's Eve. We have a party on New Year's day though with Karl's family. They do that every year, it is their Christmas get together. That is what is going on here. I am going to try and visit blogs again. Have a very Happy New Year!!

I hope everyone had a nice Christmas!! It was good here. My parents came and we had a good time. Josh and I took lots of pictures, I think he has the good ones, but here is one I took of Josh opening presents. It was a nice day.
I haven't done much since Christmas and I am enjoying it. I have been trying to get things updated with my phone. I finally got into my old centurytel e-mail account and was able to get my twitter password, so I have that on my phone now and I was messing with Foursquare, but I had to charge my phone. That is all I have been doing and playing my games at facebook. I am planning to get Christmas things taken down and get the house cleaned up today or tomorrow. We have also been watching a lot of movies.
I made an appointment this morning to see the dermatologist. I have a spot on my tummy that should not be there and it needs to be removed. It makes me nervous. Hopefully it is just a spot that is non cancerous and will be removed and it will be over. Pray about it if you do not mind. I go January 24th.
Well, we have another Christmas get together on New Year's Day with Karl's family. I go back to work on Monday. Josh goes back to school too.
Josh is going to Silver Dollar City tomorrow to see the lights, it is beautiful this time of year there. He will love it. He is going with Karl's mom and dad and cousins. The weather is supposed to be near 60, so nice weather for it.

Christmas Eve.

It has been a fun week. We did some Christmas shopping...nothing like waiting until the last minute. We went to see a movie at the theater, which we never do. We saw The Muppets. It was cute. Josh and I have been baking cookies. We made double chocolate chip cookies one day and dog cookies the next. I made oatmeal raisin the other night. I plan to bake chocolate chip next week or so, once we have eaten what we have. The dogs are enjoying their dog cookies. I got the recipe over at Darylynn's blog. It is the first one Canine Coookies. I did freeze part of the dough like Darylynn suggested.
It is Christmas Eve. We have just been cleaning house today. We groomed the dogs yesterday. We are also watching movies. Tonight we have Cars 2 and Pirates of the Carribean (the most recent one). I have a couple of things I want to get made this evening for Christmas dinner tomorrow, but for the most part, we will make all of it tomorrow. My mom is bringing desserts and homeade stuffing.

Christmas Craziness

Last week was crazy!! My final was on Monday night. I had an oral presentation of how I plan to work with familes. It went well and I got an A in the class. I am done with college!! Yay!! Then Tuesday was Josh's band concert, that was a lot of fun. The band sounded great. Wednesday I baked cookies for the Christmas party at the preschool on Thursday and did laundry and Thursday was the Christmas party for the kids, they got lots of gifts and I think they had a good time. Friday we started taking Christmas things down at the preschool and decorating for Winter. We will finish with classroom things on Monday. We are also getting more new students we need to get ready for. I also marked IEP's and did lesson plans for first week of January. We start our Christmas break on Tuesday. Josh is already finished, his Christmas break has started. The picture is of my co-worker Natalie and myself taken last week. I am standing behind Natalie, we were being silly. Then the picture below is me at home with Meisha in front of the Christmas tree. Meisha turned 1 year old.

Today I would like to get out and so some Christmas shopping. I just need to get something for my mom and dad. I have no idea what to get them. I also would like to get Josh some more things. We got him an Ipod for Chrismtas, but I would like to grab something else for him as well.
We are hosting Christmas this year at our house. I am excited. We did Thanksgiving at my parent's house.
I am really not sure what to do with myself since I do not have to study or do homework. I keep thinking I need to get busy doing homework and I am done. It has not sunk in that I am done. I should get my certificate in January and I am also testing for another certificate in mid January. I stay busy, but hopefully things will calm down a bot now. I will probably post again, but if not...Merry Christmas!!

Black Friday

Ok, so first I should say Thanksgiving was a lot of fun and we had tons of wonderful food. My mom does not know how to cook anything bad. Then I did my nails and my mom opened her birthday present. We stayed all day. Then we came home and started getting ready for Black Friday. Many of you know that Black Friday is not my thing. I do not like crowds or standing in line. Karl is patient and that stuff does not bother him. Well, we go to Wal~Mart...yes we. He talked me into going because I was wanting a new cell phone. Well we get there and we had a few other things in mind we wanted. We picked up a new comforter set ($35) and some Rubbermaid things (18). Karl stood in line for a surround sound bar ($45). We already have surround sound, but it is going out, so we are trying this one. Anyway, while Karl was waiting Josh and I walked around and looked at other stuff. There were people everywhere. I did not have fun. I went for a cell phone, but they were out already, I also wanted some of the 600 thread count sheets which were also gone. Still glad we picked up a few things. Ok, so midnight comes and I see people rushing the front of the store. Josh and I were standing by the cash register, so we jumped in line, Karl met up with us and we checked out. That part did go well.
Karl went back out today and got Meisha a bigger crate...those were on sale also and if you own a dog you know big crates can be kind of pricey. He picked one up for $40 or $45. Hopefully Meisha enjoys some more space.
I took down the Thanksgiving decorations and I need to dust, then I plan to decorate for Christmas!! Yay!! I love this time of the year!!
Tonight we are going to meet up with some of Karl's family for a birthday party. It will be fun, we are going bowling. Have a nice day Black Friday Shoppers!!

Thanksgiving!!

I am so excited for Thanksgiving. This week we will work all day Monday and then half a day on Tuesday. Then vacation begins. I am ready. I love Thanksgiving. We are going to my parent's house this Thanksgiving. Speaking of my parents, I really need to write about what happened to my mom. She had been seeing this doctor in Oklahoma and long story short, she was super over medicated. She has been sleeping almost all of the time for the last several years. Everytime these doctor's would change her medicine, they would not take her off any of her old medicine, just keep adding new medicine. Anyway, she had started falling and she hurt herself. My parent's were at my house one night and she fell. She was also really shaky. These things could all be explained by her diagnoses, so I didn't think much about it...she has Parkinson's and COPD...I just thought her shaking was getting worse and that she was not taking her oxygen which would make her more awake. Well anyway, she fell at my house and she started asking if my dad was there. I could tell she had fainted. I told my dad to get her to the doctor and let them know she was fainting. Well, the doctor told her she was over medicated and changed her medications. She was also having nightmares and what I did not know was she was not able to use the bathroom. The doctor called her back and told her to get back to her office. Her kidneys were starting to shut down. When she went back, her kidneys were doing better because she had stopped taking all of the medications. My mom is also awake/alert now. She has been shopping and getting out. She feels so much better. I am so thankful the doctor caught this in time. She could have died. The doctor has been monitoring her kidneys and they are doing fine. Anyway, she is having Thanksgiving at her house this year and she wants to cook. I will get to go help her, but I am so happy she is feeling better.
Well, let's see. The last time I posted I had 2 new students. I got like 6 more since then. We have a lot of 3 year olds, so getting them used to structure takes time. We will get there. In the meantime, the holidays are here, so hopefully we will not get anymore kids until January. This will give us some time to work with the kids we have now and teach them our expectations.
Karl also went back to work. He is working at Bass Pro, building a museum inside of Bass Pro I believe-he does commercial construction. He has been working every day, no days off. The money will be good, but working everyday is hard.
I only have 4 more classes and I will be done with college. The last time I posted it was Halloween. I had to go to night class, but afterwards I rushed home and started handing out candy. We always get a lot of my students that come by. They looked so cute!! The picture is of my nephew Brandon and his wife Alicia and their daughter Chloe. They looked so cute!! I would have been so mad if I would have missed all of the trick-or-treaters because of night class, but as it turns out I didn't miss anything, I got home just in time.
Ok, well this is what happens when I do not post for a long time. I am sorry this is so long. I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!!

Happy Halloween!!

I thought I had posted after I finished student teaching, but I didn't. I think I make blog posts in my head sometimes. My last week was good, but like I said, it was really hard to leave. I loved it over there. I cried and I still think about those kids and wonder how they are doing.
I have been back to work for about 2 weeks I think. They have sent me 3 new kids and are working on 3 more. I welcome more kids. The kids do better overall when there are more of them to play with. We have 10 between two classes right now. That is not very many.
Karl is laid off again. It does sound like there will be some more work soon though. That is good.
There is nothing going on with our house. We had a bid and the amount offered was good, but they wanted us to sign something stating that we would fix anything an inspector might find wrong with the house. Well, depending on the inspector, they may find nothing, they may find thousands of dollars of stuff. There is no way to know, so we didn't sign. We have an old house too, so that was too scary to sign.
Ok, here is a Josh story. I painted my nails dark purple for Halloween, they look black. Well, Josh asks me when I painted my fingernails and why they were black. I told him for Halloween. He informs me that is bad and that it is goth. I even got him a black jacket and he says it is goth, he doesn't like to wear it. He cracks me up. Maybe I will dye my hair black too and see what he says...LOL!!
My night class will be over in December and I will be done with college. I can almost taste it!! I am so excited. I will be at night class for Halloween. How exciting right? Well, I am going to go. Have a Happy and safe Halloween. I am excited to decorate for Thanksgiving...even though I think Wal~Mart wants me to decorate for Christmas. ;)

I really need to get out more. So, Karl usually puts gas in my car, but he has been working crazy long hours, so I needed to get dogfood and I was out of gas. I went to get gas and I was shocked at the price. I looked up and thought I was paying for mine and someone elses's...LOL!! I know gas prices are down some, I paid $3.09/gallon. I cannot imagine what I would have thought if I would have got gas when it was higher. I have a small car, not an SUV, so I do not know what I was thinking, but anyway... Ok, so after that shock, I proceed to Branson where I am going to Pet Smart for dogfood. Well, I did not realize our dogfood brand was so expensive. Karl usually does this also. I am usually there, just not paying attention. I really hate knowing how much money we spend. Ok, so the last time I got dogfood we had one dog and we got a much smaller bag. We now have 3 dogs and need a bigger bag, plus I get a pet store brand and not a walmart brand. I also decided that they needed new toys and some dog treats. Ok, well that isn't really even my "I need to get out more" moment for the pet store. I go to pay and the machine will not take my debit card, I swiped it like 4 times, then accidentally it taps the side and goes through. I was like OMG, what happened??? The girl tells me I have one of the cards you only have to tap to get the machine to work. I told her I didn't get out much. She was nice and told me not many people know about it because not many places have those machines around here. It was cool. Anyway, I dropped over $100 in about an hour, so I thought I better get myself home.
Well, this coming week is my last week of student teaching, then I will go back to work October 17th. It is bittersweet. I need to get back to work, but I will miss the kids so much. It will be a rough week for me.
The house hunting is not going so good. It is such a long story, let's just say the people that were interested in our house did make a bid, but it did not work out.
Karl is working a different job, but I am not sure for how long, so I will not go into it. He is working long hours though. It is hard on him. Good paycheck though.
I am just waiting for my parents to bring back Josh. He spent the night with them. Have a great weekend!!

Happy Labor Day!!

I know this is an old background from CLBOTB, but I was missing the country graphics and this reminded me of them a little. I love the scarecrow. I like doing my blog here at blogger, but I miss country graphics.
Well, the bank did not go for our offer on the house. We agreed that their counter-offer was much too high, so we decided not to agree to their offer. We are looking elsewhere for houses now. These things all work out. They did show our house Friday afternoon though and the people stayed at least an hour looking around. That made me a little nervous. If they do make a good bid and we accept, we will not really have anywhere to go. There aren't any homes here where we live that we like. We looked at some wonderful houses today, but they are in another town. Josh would have to change schools. I am just praying everything works out the way it is supposed to.
Student teaching is going good. The teacher had to leave for a family emergency one day this week, so I was alone with the class much of the day. I think everything went well, except for classroom management. It is hard to be in control when it is not your class. I have some things I am going to try. I will be taking over reading and language this week. I will probably do that for two weeks because I am having an evaluation next week. I only have social studies and math to take over after that, I will take social studies...maybe even next week and then math.
We are not doing anything special for Labor Day. Just relaxing. It is nice to have a little break. I am going to add my little birthday siggie from Susie this week since my birthday is Friday the 9th. Have a nice week!!! Happy Labor Day!!

Student Teaching

This week was crazy. Monday I had meetings at my college, came home to eat, went to meet the class I would be with for student teaching, came back home, changed clothes and fed the dogs, went to pick up Josh from school then went to my night class. It was nuts, but the rest of the week was nice. I started student teaching and I love the kids. I am not nervous anymore either. I just had to get started. I had lunch duty this week, so I got to mingle with all of the 2nd graders. It was fun. I also have started doing some little things in the classroom to get a few clerical jobs mastered because in a few weeks I will have to run the whole class by myself. I think it will be fine. I am planning to take reading or language as my first lessons to take over.
We did hear about the house...the owners have accepted our offer, so it has gone to the bank and now since it is a short sale, the bank has to decide if they want to accept our offer, so it will take more time, but no big deal. We had someone look at our house today as well.
I also got the results of my praxis back this week and I passed. Now for those of you who are not familiar with what the praxis is, it is my license to teach. It is a big test that you have to pass to become certified. I am so excited because I just knew I had messed it up. I changed several of my answers and I know I changed them to the wrong answer and had the correct answer to begin with. Well, it worked out and I passed.
Well, Karl has the movie "Tangled" on and it is pretty funny, so I am going to go and watch it. Have a nice week!

First week of school

Josh had a good week at school. He seemed a little frustrated because they really weren't doing much of anything but going over rules, and that is boring.
This was my only week at the preschool. I had so much fun. I have some new kids and one of them is hilarious. It will be a super fun year with this student added to the mix of the already fun class I have. I will start student teaching next week, so I will not be back at the preschool until October 17th. I will miss my kids and co-workers.
Monday I go to a student teacher meeting and then Tuesday I start student teaching. This goes on for 8 weeks and then I am done and I can go back to the preschool. I am sure I will love it. Oh, I think some of you had asked what grade I will be teaching and where. It is public schools and it is 2nd grade.
This weekend I need to clean house and get everything ready for next week. I will try to make a post next week about how student teaching is going. I am nervous. Hopefully by later in the week I will be over that. BTW...still no word on the house, but I will keep you posted. Have a nice weekend.

back to school

Josh had a really good time at Ft. Walton, or Ookaloosa Beach, in Florida. They also ended up going to Fort Walton and an Indian museum as well as an air force museum. They ate out at some seafood place, but I do not remember the name of the place. He is home though and I am glad. I missed him.
We went to look at houses on Wednesday and afterwards Karl had to go to the dentist. On his way home his van broke down. We ended up having to go buy a new one. It looks very similar to the old one. it is an '02 Toyota Sienna. He is having to drive a long distance to work right now and needs something dependable. We spent the entire day looking for something on Thursday and then had to go pick it up on Friday. That is how I spent my last days off. I was not happy, but it had to be done.
We also decided to make a bid on a house we looked at. It is a house getting ready to be foreclosed on and is in short sale, so we bid much lower than what they are asking, so we shall see. We may not have a chance, and that is ok, but we had to try, it is a nice home and in the woods. It is so quiet.
I go back to work tomorrow for a week. Josh is spending the night with my parents. Then he goes back to school on Tuesday. I am not sure how much I will be blogging now, you kind of know how I do when I am working, sometimes it is once a month. I get so busy. I start student teaching the 23rd, so all of that is coming up. This summer went so fast. I hope to be back in here to post again soon. Have a nice week!!

Here is a picture of the boys playing in the sand. Josh is the one with the swim shirt. He does not really tan at all. Karl doesn't either. Anyway, they went to the beach yesterday and had a great time and I heard Grandpa got into their blow up boat and rode the waves. How fun. They posted some pictures of Josh on the beach last night and the boys in the pool. I thought this picture was so funny though, so I decided to post it instead. It is of Josh and his cousin and it looks like they are having a glass of wine. It is juice of course. My sister-in-law says the boys insist on drinking from these glasses everytime. They are so silly. Josh is in the yellow shirt. You can also click the photo to make it bigger so you can see it.
Well I met my teacher yesterday where I will be student teaching and she showed me around the building. She was really nice. I will at least now know where the classroom is and where to park. I also know kind of what hours I will need to be there. I hated to ask that, but I have a son I need to know about when I will be home. Karl has been working in Joplin and has been working 10 hour days. He was not getting home until 7PM. He said they are working 8 hour days now, so we shall see.
I got Josh's paperwork filled out for school, so I plan to take it to the school today and get him enrolled. I think that is all I have plannned today, so no big deal. Tomorrow we look at houses. I hope we find one. I am afraid interest rates are going to go up and I want a good one. Have a great day!!

meet the teacher

Josh arrived in Florida yesterday and he called me and he is having a really good time. They hadn't gone to the beach yet, so I am sure he will have lots to say next time I talk to him. They took some pictures on the way down to Florida and they took one of all 3 boys in the pool. Josh is the one with his goggles on his forehead. I haven't seen many other pictures than that so far. They have posted to facebook on occassion. They are having fun, so I just check in every now and then. They stayed at Hattiesburg, MS on the way down and that is where the picture was taken.
Today I am going to meet the teacher I will be student teaching under. I am really excited. I start that on the 23rd of August, but Josh starts school next week and I am going to work for a week.
I also have to get him enrolled this week in school. I think I will work on that tomorrow. I have to fill out all of the forms etc. Then Wednesday Karl is taking off work and we are looking at some houses. I will let you know how that goes.
Well, have a nice week. They are saying it may cool off into the 80's this week. It was back in the 100's over the weekend, so it is a welcome change. They say here in Missouri, if you don't like the weather, just wait until tomorrow...or it may be wait 5 minutes. Do they say that everywhere?

Josh and I went shopping yesterday for some school supplies. It is the no tax weekend for school supplies/clothes/shoes, etc. Well, we got a lot of them but not all. Maybe I can do that today or tomorrow. I also got some shorts. It was busy.
I also had to get Josh packed for his trip. He is on his way to Florida for a vacation with his grandparents (Karl's parents), his cousins, and 2 of his Aunts. He will have fun. They have a ocean front condo and they are on the ground level, so the kids can just run back and forth to the condo without having to go up flights of stairs or elevators. I could not afford to go this year, but they offered to take Josh and I would never take that from him. I am so happy he is getting to go. They split the cost and it was only like $300/each for the week. I am hoping for next year.
I am just going to clean up the house a bit today and maybe get some of that school shopping done.
Karl and I are going to look at some houses Wednesday, I will let you know how it goes.

Today was Josh's birthday. He is 13 years old. I can hardly believe it. We went shoe shopping with my parents and they got him a pair of tennis shoes and I got him a pair also. My mom got him some socks also. Then we went to eat at Cheddars. It was wonderful. We then came home to visit for a while and then I washed the curtains at the preschool after my parents went home. We start school on August 15th. This summer has flown by. Oh!! The best thing. I heard thunder last night and I am pretty sure we got rain too. The heat was not bad at all today, in fact it was still in the 80's when we got back from shopping and eating with my parents. It got up in the 90's later, but not bad at all. It was a great day.

Josh and I went to the university where I take classes today. I needed to try to sell some books back and get my books for fall. They usually tell me they are using different books and are not buying back the books I have. Well today, they bought back all of my books but one. I was excited. I was able to get one of my books for fall the other one is not in the bookstore yet. I decided to have them ship it to me so I do not have to drive back up there. Then we went to get my parking pass. I am taking a night class, so I will need one. Anyway, that is all taken care of and I am ready for classes I think. We also drove by the school where I will student teach so I will know where to go. I have a couple of weeks, but I have other things to do.
I planned to do some work at the preschool tonight, but my house was hot and I could not cool off, then I started watching tv. It was 105 degrees today and I just didn't want to get out in it. I will probably go down tomorrow, and it is supposed to be even hotter, but it is nice and cool at the preschool. I am needing to get the room ready. I enjoy doing that, so I do not mind it.
Over the weekend Karl and his dad put in a new front door and we painted Josh's room. There is just a little work left in the laundry room. We are getting there.

Creative Adventures

1. While on vacation in Europe I decided to visit an old landmark Inn at the top of the cliffs. The Inn was the place to stay for the rich and famous during the turn of the 20th century. As I rode along the winding road up to the top I noticed it was beginning to rain.

2. Gathering my senses I continued to the Inn grounds and drove the long unkept driveway to the now abandoned building. Stepping out of my car I walked to the door and found it was unlocked.

3. Entering the enormous lobby I walked to the desk and opened an old falling apart guest register and as I was reading the list of guests who were part of the past of this once famous Inn I thought I heard a door close.

4. Leaving this lonely ghostly place with a smile on my face I thought to myself why do I keep going in abandoned buildings.

Today I am just doing laundry and my parents are coming to get Josh later so he can spend the night. I got the wallpaper off pretty easy the other day and then Karl got the painting done when he got home. Tomorrow I am taking Molly to the vet for some shots. Have a nice day!!

Manic Monday

I took Josh to the orthodontist today, then as soon as we got home there was a message on the phone from a realtor wanting to show our house. I cleaned the house and did some laundry really fast and while they were showing the house we went to the library. Josh returned his books and checked out a new one, in the meantime I have all 3 dogs in the car. Then after that we went to Karl's mom's house to wait until the people were gone from looking at the house. Well here is the thing with our house. The people last week that looked at it really liked it, but we have some repairs to make and it seems like they were in a hurry to get in a house and made a bid on another house. Since then we have been working on the repairs. Well, Karl and his dad have been. Tonight when we got home Karl started pulling wallpaper off the wall and painting the laundry room. I helped with the wallpaper. We are getting there.
Tomorrow I plan to do some training for work on the computer. It should not take long. I have to watch a film and take a test over it. Then I need to get back in there and try to get more wallpaper off the wall so Karl can paint it when he gets home. He likes to paint.

Toni had posted her Saturday Special Meme, and it was one of my favorite's, so I am going to post it on here.

1. Traveling by Air, Sea or Land? Land. I like to stop and see the little things along the way.
2. Hotel, Camp Grounds or Summer Cottage? Hotel and Summer Cottage. We stayed in a condo in Orange Beach and I enjoyed that. I have not actually stayed in a summer house, but I would enjoy that also. I am not much of a camper considering I live in the woods basically.
3. Sightseeing, Weather Related Sports or Relaxing? Relaxing...right now I am all about relaxing. I am hoping to be back to relaxing and doing lots of sightseeing after my school is over. I am exhausted.
4. Favorite vacation season? Summer...but this summer is killing me. :/
5. On a scale of 1 to 10 (with 10 being highest) how much do you enjoy watching sports on television? 10, I love to watch STL Cardinals baseball, KC Chiefs football, some college sports, Boxing.
6. If you could completely memorize any one work of fiction, which one would you pick? To Kill A Mockingbird I suppose. It is one of my favorite books.
7. What is your favorite breakfast food? sadly I never eat breakfast, but I would say biscuits and gravy rank pretty high for me. I have problems eating eggs and bacon now...I do not know why. I have acid reflux.
8. Name something fun you can do for less than $10.00? Rent a movie and microwave a bag of Orville Redenbacher unsalted lightly buttered popcorn. - this was Toni's answer, I will just keep it. I do not know what fun is these days.
9. How long does it usually take you to fall asleep? It depends. Somestimes I go right to sleep, sometimes I cannot sleep at all. It depends what is on my mind and how much caffeine I have had.
10. What are the two main reasons you do memes? I enjoy seeing what other people say about the same questions, many times you have things in common. They are also just fun.

So we looked at that house in Springfield yesterday and Karl feels like the houses were too close together. We are used to our privacy and peace and quiet I think. We are super picky. There is another house on the market here in town, but it is a little out of our price range, so we keep looking and praying.
Karl's dad is coming over this afternoon to help Karl continue the repairs. They are building a wall around our water heater. Karl's dad is a carpenter. Nice right? He is retired, but stays busier than anyone I know with work. It would be nice to have skills like that. Ok, well I better get moving. Have a nice day and stay cool. It is supposed to be near 100 again. Oh joy!!! I do not have my pool out because I didn't want to make a dead place in the yard from the pool as our house is shown to potential buyers. That and I am afraid Meisha would be swimming in it all of the time. :/

busy with stuff...

Josh got home last night around dinner time. He ended up staying the night with his cousins after Silver Dollar City and swimming. It is just as well, I have had my nose in my books trying to prepare for the praxis which I take on Saturday.
Karl and his dad have been doing the repairs to our house. There are just a couple of things that we felt like had to be fixed before we tried to sell it and actually the rest of the house is in good shape. The houses we have looked at are in need of help. That sort of irritates me. We are spending time on trying to get our house move in ready and the other houses need to be fixed up. Karl did find a house, but it is in Springfield. It is wonderful though. We may have to go look at it. It would have easy access to the road for us to get to work and it wouldn't be that far. The school district is one of the best in Springfield according to different girls I have talked to at the university. We really want to stay here so Josh can go to a smaller school, but who knows.
So, I was all set to blog yesterday and was even at Kat's blog and read it, but my phone rang. I am going to try it again today. Once the phone rings it seems I am busy the rest of the day. I hope you are having a wonderful week. It is hot and sunny here near 100 degrees. The farmers are having a hard time...the ponds are drying up and the hay is not growing as much as thhey would like. computer woes

I have been working on lesson plans and actually they are done. I am good until the second week of November.
Saturday I did not get anything done, I sat on my computer all day and tried to figure out why I was not able to view my facebook games properly. I know. This is why it is good for me to be busy. Anyway, I ended up downloading IE 9 and updating my adobe flash and I can view some games properly, but I cannot get into Frontierville at all now. It is a mess and I cannot figure out how to go back to the way it was. This all started because we got Josh a new computer for his birthday and his computer was loading games properly. It was an early birthday present. He was really excited about it.
Sunday we went to church. It was a wonderful message. I enjoyed it so much. It was just basically about how much God loves us.
Today Josh is at Silver Dollar City with his cousins and his Grandma. I am sure they are having fun, but hot.

I have been working on lesson plans the past couple days, just a couple of hours at a time, the first day it was too hot, so after about 2 hours I left, the A/C could not cool the place off. The next day I got my lessons to the end of September done, but the copy machine quit working. I tried and tried to figure out what was making it get jammed. I just came home. That night Karl and I went and looked at some houses. We saw one, and it looked really nice, but it was too dark, the house did not have any electricity, so we met with his Aunt again today...she is our agent. We went in and the house is a mess. It needs a LOT of work. I think we decided it would not be worth the money to try to fix it up when we can find another house that is more move in ready. It is a nice house. We will see. Then tonight I went back to the preschool to see about the copier. I said "Please God let it be fixed", well the copy got jammed. I pulled the piece of paper out and out came a tiny piece of construction paper. Awww, prayer answered. I tried again and the paper got jammed again, so I pulled out my piece of paper again and looked in there. I saw a big piece of construcion paper. I grabbed it out and tried a copy again. It worked!! God answered my prayers. I had done this the day before so many times and I couldn't see anything in there. So it is back to the preschool with me tomorrow and I will try to get the lesson plans finished up. I am so close.
Josh got home from Oklahoma this afternoon, he had a really good time. It is nice to have him home. I do not mind him being gone if I am busy for a day, but after that I start missing him so bad.

My last class was today and I finished my discussion boards last night for my class. So glad to have that done so I can focus on something else.
I went to Wal~Mart after class and then came home and ate. Then I went to the preschool and started working on the lesson plans for the preschool. The A/C was off from no one being there and it was so hot. It has been 100º everyday. The A/C could not cool the building. I worked as long as I could, and I had to leave. I did get some stuff done though and I will go back tomorrow and try to finish up some more. I really do not think these will take as long as I thought they would.
Then next week I need to start studying for my praxis, which is my state certification test. It is on Saturday, July 23.
My parents picked up Josh early this morning before 7AM. I was just starting to do my make-up. They are in Oklahoma now for a few days. He will be back Thursday. That is another reason I want to get those lesson plans done. I do not want to do them when Josh is home. I want to be home with him. Anyway, he took his camera, so if he gets any good pictures, I will post them. Have a nice week!!!

Fireworks and Fun

I finished all of my reading and my paper for my class. I just need to do the discussion boards online and I will be done. The last face-to-face class is tomorrow. It is partly online also though.
Now that the class is out of the way I need to get down to the preschool and start my lesson plans for the fall. Josh is going to Oklahoma this week with my parents. They will pick him up today, so after class tomorrow I plan to go to the preschool and get started on them. I am hoping it doesn't take a long time. I do have to do 10 weeks of lesson plans though and leave notes on what to do for 8 weeks of the lessons. I am hoping to get that done this week. If I can do that, I will have a week off. I was planning to do lesson plans next week.
Today I am doing laundry and cleaning house some. I had a terrible headache yesterday and did not get anything accomplished. It is so hot too. It was 102º yesterday and 100º the day before and supposed to be 100º again today. This is usually our August weather. I am concerned with this heat.
We went to a fireworks display on Saturday night. It was a lot of fun. My friend Malinda and her family was there. They live here in town and she subs with me sometimes at the preschool if someone needs to be gone. Then another friend of mine from high school (Barb and her family) also came. If you are on facebook, there are tons of pictures. It was nice just being able to be with friends and do something fun besides homework. There is a picture of Josh and his friend Malena with a horse, there is a petting zoo at this place also.

Busy Week

I spent the end of last week getting ahead with homework and now I am trying to tie things up. My last day of class is next Tuesday. I need to finish up my paper and I have several chapters to read, but it is almost over. This class has been a cake walk compared to others I have had. I enjoy it also because the teacher is wonderful and two of the girls from my methods classes are in there. They will also be in my fall class which is my LAST class and I will be done.
Josh is getting ready to be busy. He is going to try the Oklahoma trip again next week with my parents. Then in August, two of Karl's sisters and his parents are taking the boys to Florida. I haven't been able to go...last year no money and this year too busy. I am planning to go next summer. Anyway, they go in August right after his birthday. He will have a blast. The ocean is wonderful. They are going to the gulf area. I wish I could go, but this gives me something to look forward to for next summer.
We went swimming on Tuesday at my sister-in-law's house. Josh got a little burned and so did I. It was the first time I had been in the sun this summer and I always get burned the first couple of times. We brought my nephew home with us and the boys played and had fun. He spent the night and went home yesterday. It has been a busy and fun week. Glad I got my homework done so I could enjoy it.

We ended up having to put a muzzle on Meisha, she was hiding under the chairs and would not come out. She scared one of the girls, so we muzzled her. Then another girl came out to help and Meisha was fine. They got the stitches out. So glad that is over.
I got a lot of homework done. I did my reading for next week and my discussion boards so I can start working on my paper. I am going to try to work on that today. I will not be able to finish it, but if I can just get it started, I will be happy.
I knew I would be preaching to the choir when talking about teaching with you girls. Most of you are teachers and understand. I get questioned a lot from family and friends. Thanks for understanding.
I need to do some laundry today too. This stuff will not take much time. I am not sure what else trouble I will get into, but I will let you know. Have a great day!!

Meisha's stitches

Today the plan is to take Meisha to the vet to get her stitches out. I wish they would have put the kind in that dissolve, I am worried about how she is going to act there. She gets so scared.
Then I plan to read ahead for homework and when I say get ahead, it will not last long because there is so much reading. I also need to start working on my paper for that class. I have all of the information I need, so I would like to get it started. Julie had asked if I plan to stay at the preschool teaching or if I will teach primary and that is a good question. I have had A LOT of people asking me that same question. I will be certified to teach birth- 3rd Grade. I could do First Steps, Parents As Teachers, teach in a classroom. I have lots of options. As of now, I plan to stay at the ECSE preschool. I love the kids and my co-workers and it is close. I am in a classroom and work for the school district. I think some think I work at a daycare and that is not the case. It is an early childhood special education preschool. I will also have to take the praxis for early childhood special education to teach there. I have my Provisional Certificate right now to teach. It is confusing I know. I also think that many have the idea that if you are not in at least 1st grade you are not really teaching and that is not the case either. I really believe in early intervention. I am a hige advocate for it. So, for now at least, I will stay. In doing my practicum teaching, I felt like the primary grades were easier, but that is not what I am wanting. I need a challenge. The special education kids give me that and at least for now, I love it. I say for now because I am getting older and I know I cannot do that forever. I may teach primary at that point.
Karl was not up for going out for dinner last night for his birthday. We just stayed in and had some Mexican food. It was yummy.
Did I mention I drove around looking at houses yesterday? I am really embarrasing for Karl to be with, I will park and go look in the windows if I know the house is empty. I did that and then drove by some of the houses we are interested in. There were two more on the market. I still have one house I really like, but the time is just not right yet....we still have to sell our house. Who knows what will be available when that happens.

Happy Birthday Karl!!

Today ended week 3 of my college class. Just two more weeks. It is going fast and I still have a lot of work to do. This has not been a relaxing summer really and it is only going to get more busy. I am going to do lesson plans for the preschool once the class is over and my take my praxis test, which is my state certification to teach in July as well. Then in August is Josh's birthday and I need to get the preschool put back together then and about the tiime I get done with all of that, it will be time for school to start. I plan on being at the preschool the first week and then I will do student teaching. Some of you had mentioned the school paying for the FBI background check a few weeks ago. They actually do, but I am having to do this for the college and they make you pay for it. My job does not require me to do it every year right now. They paid for it last year.
My parents ended up not going to Oklahoma. Long story short, my mom had an appointment and it was canceled, so they did not go. Josh was so disappointed. He enjoys going down there and seeing my dad's family and they were going to take him some places. He is at their house today.
Today is Karl's birthday!! I am going to see if he would like to go out to eat tonight. He may not, just because it is so hot right now and he is tired when he gets home. We shall play it by ear.
Besides school, I have just been trying to clean a little bit at a time and keep laundry done. I did not feel so hot over the weekend. I had a headache and didn't do much. I feel better now though, so trying to catch up. Have a nice week!!

ready for the week?

I disappeared again. I had to finish up my job shadowing, which is the lab part of my class. It was interesting and my director does A LOT!! I know I would never want to do her job, I just think it would be too much stress for me.
Josh and I just hung out on Friday and did nothing. It was nice. I did get laundry done, but that is about it.
I did homework much of the day on Saturday. There is a ton of reading with my class and I have to keep up with it. Karl went to help our nephew and his family move. They lived in Joplin and moved back to Springfield. They did not lose their home from the tornado, they had planned to move before that happened. Their house sold really fast, so that is a good thing.
We went to look at a house today, but it turned out to be too far in the boonies, even for me. It was a gorgeous home though.
Tomorrow I need to get laundry done and get Josh ready for his trip to Oklahoma. He is going down with my parents and they are going to do some fun stuff and visit some family. I also need to do a discussion board for my class.

job shadowing

Meisha did really well with her surgery and she is home and doing fine. I am glad it is out of the way. She was really scared when Karl went to pick her up. He had to go back and get her because she wouldn't come out of the cage they had for her. I need to take her back still to get her stitches removed next week. I hope she does ok, poor scared baby.
My college class is going well I think. I have been doing a lot of lessons, but the teacher hasn't posted any grades, so I hope we are all doing everything right. I am sure it is fine. We have to shadow an adminstrator for this class, so I am doing that this week. It is not boring like I thought it might be. I have been shadowing my director and she has a million things to do. I just couldn't see myself doing that kind of job, it is too much stress. My director is wonderful though and I am glad she likes it.
My parents came for a visit the other day and Josh stayed the night with them that night. It was kind of nice, that way he is with someone while I am doing all of this running around with class and job shadowing.
It is time for me to go soend some time with my director doing shadowing, so I will go. I will visit soon. Have a nice week.

Meisha to the vet

Today I took Meisha in at 7AM to get spayed. I hate dropping the girls off for that. I worry all day about them, I know she is fine though. It was funny because as I was giving her to the girl to take to the back Meisha was acting up a little and I asked the girl if she wanted me to help her and she told me what I tell the parents at the preschool. It is best if you just go, sometimes they will do better once you are gone. I kind of giggled on the way out. I should have known better right? LOL!!
So for my class I have to spend time with an administrator. So this afternoon I am planning on spending some time with mine from the preschool. I need to get in a lot of hours with her this week if possible because she is going on a 2 week vacation. When she gets back, I will be in my last week of class. My homework is caught up, so tonight I plan to baby Meisha.
Josh had a good time camping. He lost two teeth. He still has a lot of baby teeth and this has been a problem with moving along with his braces. We already had 4 pulled last year, so hopefully the rest will come on out. Anyway, they went floating on the Current River in Alley Springs, near Eminence, MO. It is really pretty there. I haven't been in years because of college.
I called my dad yesterday for Father's Day and talked to him for a while. Karl and I went to church and they had a nice Father's Day service.

It seems like for some people (me), my blogger id is not working to leave comments and is causing problems for others as well. If you read this and you have a blogger blog, do you have a different type of comments section? Many years ago before I had my wordpress blog I had a blogger blog and I had a different kind of comments box, but I do not remember what it was and I probably wouldn't remember how to install it now...LOL!! I was just wondering about alternatives. Since I posted this I have been visiting other blogs and it seems like if you set your comments to pop out they work better? I changed mine. They probably just know what they are doing and I don't...LOL!!!! It is worth a try.
Josh is leaving around noon today for his camping trip and I need to clean house. I did not get anything done yesterday except a discussion board for my class. I took a shower, but did not ever dry my hair until bedtime...it was still wet where I had it pulled back. I usually get lots of company when I do that. I was lucky yesterday and no one had to see me being lazy. I had a headache too though. I will use that as my excuse.
Well, when I was visiting blogs yesterday I saw Darylynn got a new puppy in November named Cooper. I then realized I was not very up to date on people even though I am active on facebook. So I thought I would share about Meisha. Well, we found a puppy in our driveway in december and kept her. I have posted pictures of her here and on facebook, so most of you have seen her. This is Meisha. She is getting her little girl surgery on monday. She is a big girl now. The little dogs like her. She is really laid back. Anyway, most of you have probably seen her. If you scroll down the page you can see other pictures of her probably, I post so often and all.

Well my summer school class has started. It is an adminisration class, so not my wheelhouse, but the teacher is awesome, so it is ok. It is a 5 weeks class, so one week down 4 to go. Those classes go fast. I am going to need to do some text reading this weekend, write a paper, do a discussion board and some other stuff on blackboard. It will keep me busy, not to mention I am going to have to spend 15 hours with an administrator over the next 4 weeks.
Josh is going camping with his cousins this weekend, so I will have plenty of time for homework. I will be so glad when I am done with school and I can spend time with him. He has been so patient. He will probably not want anything to do with me once I am done, just watch. He is getting to be that age.
I was just at Andrea's blog...if you drop by Andrea, I tried to leave a message, but I couldn't. I am not sure why. If anyone is having trouble leaving comments here, let me know in the tagboard and I will see if I can figure it out.

fingerprints

I took Josh to the orthodontist tuesday. I think they basically just did something with his wires and we left. I had to take him back yesterday because they left the wires a little long at the back and the wires were poking him. Anyway, I hope we are done with that for a few weeks.
Today I am headed to get my fingerprints ran through the FBI. I have to do this for teaching and I have to have this on file with the university. There is a lot of this little stuff I have to do every summer to be able to be in the classroom. It just take some time and money.
I got an e-mail from my summer class professor yesterday. The class sounds like it will be fast paced. I start that next week. It is only 5 weeks though and it will be over.

Here is a picture of Meisha taken last week. She is getting big. I do not think she will get much bigger, maybe just bigger around. She is really sweet and calm. This is the dog we found after Thanksgiving in our driveway. She is potty trained now, so I cleaned the carpets right after I got out of school.

Well let's see, since last I wrote, I finished my spring classes and of course school is out at the preschool for summer. I got pretty stressed out at the end of the year. I was trying to get part of my student teaching waived and wasn't sure of it was going to happen, but in the end it did. I will student teach in the fall for 8 weeks and that will be done. I am student teaching in a second grade classroom, so that will be fun. I also wanted to finish up my last two classes this summer and that isn't going to happen. I am taking one class this summer and I will take one in the fall during student teaching. So, I wanted to be done in October, it will be December. I am so ready, I am going crazy.
Karl finally went back to work in May, but we got behind financially with him being off, so I am really not sure what is going on with our house hunt. I am least want to put our current house on the market soon. It isn't like houses are selling fast or anything. I think Karl's concern is that if we get another house and cannot sell our current house for a while we will have two house payments and I am going to be student teaching for 8 weeks which means no paycheck. Otherwise we could swing it. We will just see.
Josh did great in school. He made all A's and one 89%. He was so close. I am very proud of him.
I start my college class next week. It is only for 4-5 weeks, so that will be nice. I am planning on writing my lesson plans for while I will be gone in July.
Tomorrow I take Josh to the Orthodontist.

My March Madness

How is everyone doing? I am doing good. I am enjoying my classes this semester, they are lecture classes and not a ton of homework like last semester. It is nice to not be overwhelmed for a change.
I am also working on wrapping up my schooling. The plan is to take the last two classes over the summer and then student teach in the fall for 8 weeks and I will be done. I am waiting for one more signature and one 8 week block of student teaching will be waived for me because I already teach at a preschool. I plan to do my student teaching in primary grades (for me that is 1st-3rd). I have my provisional teaching certificate until then. It has been a long process, many of you have been with me the whole time. I am ready to be done. I hope to be about mid October.
The weather has been gorgeous here the past couple of weeks...in the 60's. I love that, I can take the kids out for recess at the preschool and they have so much fun.
Let's see, the house hunt. We have been looking at houses. Mostly trying to get an idea of what size of house we want, how big do we want the bedrooms, how much storage space do we need, etc. We were looking at moving to another town. Josh is not doing so well with that, and as silly as it seems, we will probably try to stay here. He is doing so good in school now, after a not so good last 2 years that he was in elementary school. I wanted to move him away then and now that he is back in school and doing good in middle school, I am glad we stayed. It all works out. God has a plan and He will show us the house He wants us to have when the time is right.
Well, I know I should post more often so when I do post it isn't so long, but I have a lot going on and when I come home, I just want to relax. I will have a life again in a few months, I am so excited!! 7 more months!! If I do not make it back, Happy St. Patrick's Day!!

February Freeze

Well, I have another snow day. I thought I would drop in and make a post. We did not get the "blizzard" they said we would thank-goodness. We are not used to that kind of weather here in Missouri. There were some places that got close to 20 inches around here, but we got about 6. Just 6 inches has paralyzed our town. It is cold now. It was -9 last night. So far the pipes haven't froze. Maybe the snow is keeping the wind out. Let's hope. We have a really old house.
Well, Karl went back to work today being out from the storm. It is so cold. The roads were really bad. They still may be, I am not getting out in it.
We have still been looking at houses. Not seriously though. I do not think we can seriously look at houses until I finish school in the fall. I will have no paycheck for 8 weeks when I am student teaching, so we will probably wait until then. The house I had talked about in my last post was super inexpensive. I guess if we found the right deal we could do it, but until then we just have fun looking.
We are missing a lot of school. I hope much of it is forgiven so we do not have to make all of it up. I do not enjoy being in school when it is nice out in the Spring.

January update

I wish I could say I have been really busy and that is why I haven't blogged, but I haven't been. We started back to school at the preschool. We have some new kids, they are precious. This has been a good year so far there.
I started my second set of methods and I think those classes will be less stressful than last semester. We do not have as many assignments. The good news on the college front is that hopefully I will be able to take my last two classes over the summer and then do student teaching in the fall and I will be done. That is the plan anyway. I will see what happens. I know they are planning to offer the classes over the summer, but if there are not enough students that need the class, they will drop it. I will keep you posted.
We have been looking at houses. We found one that was great. It overlooked a golf course and was by the river in a valley, but it had some problems, we were more than willing to fix, but DNR was being ridiculous about the whole thing, so we said forget about it. It is a very long story. Anyway, we are still looking. We are taking our time. God has the right house for us in His timing.
Josh is doing great in school. That is the other thing. I hate to move him from our current school district, but I haven't found any homes here in town that I like much, or they have a lot of land with them and it jacks the price up. We do not necessarily need land. There are a loot of horse or cow owners here though that do need the land. I just want a big back yard.
Josh is also doing well with his braces. The last time we went he got his night gear. He hates that, but the orthodontist said about 6 months is all for the night gear, so hopefully that is all it will take.
Karl is currently working, but there are not many jobs in construction right now, so we will see how that goes.
We have been out of school and work a lot lately with snow. We have to make all of those days up which stinks. I do not want to be in school at the end of June again this year. That was a short summer last summer.

Well good grief. It has been a month since I posted last. I finished my college classes and begin my second semester of methods in a few weeks.
The preschool Christmas party was fun, the kids all had little gifts to open and lots of great snacks. We are getting 2 new students when we come back from Christmas break. The second semester is always so busy at the preschool. I kind of do not look forward to it. It can be stressful with me going to school and trying to juggle everything.
We have been doing ok with Karl being laid off. He has been doing some odd jobs, so everything has worked out ok. We are hoping he gets to go back to work in a couple of weeks.
We had a nice Christmas. The month flew by. We did get out to see Christmas lights with Josh and we had a Christmas party with his extended family a few days before Christmas. Then on Christmas my dad came up and spent Christmas with us. My mom stayed home. She is not feeling well. She is having some pain in her leg. I do not know why yet. We will be having another Christmas party with Karl's immediate family on New Year's. Then Monday I go back to work (3rd).
I cannot believe a New Year is almost here. Oh and since I haven't posted in so long, we had a puppy dumped in our driveway. We decided to keep her and named her Meisha. She is going to be a big dog, but is adorable. I think she was only about 4 weeks old when she was dumped and we had had for for 3 weeks now.
Josh got a Wii for Christmas and some games to go with it. It is funny to watch them play it. I am going to post a picture of Christmas and one if Meisha. The picture of Meisha was taken on Christmas Day, so it is current.
This week I am geting my haircut (wed.). I cannot wait. I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2011!!

Black Friday

Well, let me back up and actually say that we had a wonderful Thanksgiving. We spent the day with my parents. We got there around 10:30AM, so I was able to help cook and Josh watched the Macy's Day parade and the Dog Show. The food was wonderful because my mom makes everything homemade, I even got Josh to help peel potatoes. It was fun. After we ate we watched football a little and Josh made up a game for all of us to play. It was like family feud. The weather was crazy. We had freezing rain and sleet and it was so cold. It was hot in the house though. It was a fun day. We gave my mom her gift and sang Happy Birthday to her, we got her a frame that says "Nana always makes me smile". She loved it. She also had her favorite German Chocolate cake for her birthday cake. She made Coconut Cream pie, it was awesome!!
Well, if you have been reading my blog for many years, you probably know I am not the one that goes out shopping on Black Friday, it is Karl. He went out this morning early to Kohl's and other places and got most of the Christmas presents. I just need to get presents for my co-workers and my dad and I think everyone is taken care of. We didn't buy anything "big" this year for ourselves. He is wanting to buy a shed, we need to talk about it, he is out shopping again though.
I took my Fall/Thanksgiving things down last night and put them away. I am hoping we can put up Christmas things later today inside the house.
I do want to ask for your prayers. Karl has been laid off. This happens from time to time and hopefully he will be back working by the first of the year, but just pray that December and early January goes smoothly for us. I think we will be just fine.

The thematic unit I have been working on every weekend for a month is finally finished!! Yay!! I am so glad. It has been very time consuming. Now I will just put together my practicum notebook, make a math game and work on our chapter presentation. Then the class will be over. The projects above should not take much time.
This week I have work on Monday, then practicum Tuesday, and it will be my last day of practicum. That is all I will do that day because the preschool has a half day. I will come home and work on that practicum notebook I had mentioned. Then I plan to enjoy the holiday. I will be working on the chapter presentation with two classmates, so I cannot do that and I need further instructions on the math game.
Well let's see. Josh is doing good. I think his teeth are already starting to straighten up a little. They have a long way to go, but I can see changes. He is doing just great in school. He loves it and he has all A's as of right now.
Karl is working as always. We are very thankful for that.
We will be spending Thanksgiving at my parents house. It is actually my mom's birthday on Thanksgiving day. I am not sure what I am going to get her yet. It is going to be a busy week. I better get moving.

I have been working on my thematic unit today. It is kind of like our Final for my class and it is pretty involved. I worked on and off all day and I do not feel like I got much done, but I know I did. I am going to do a couple more lesson plans tomorrow.
Well, I did my lesson plan in practicum last week and as boring as I thought it would be, the kids were really into it. The teacher did a great job teaching them about the Pledge of Allegiance and they were excited about my lesson. I was very impressed with them. I tied it to Veteran's Day and they talked about the Veteran's in their lives also. It went well. I am almost done with practicum, I am going to miss those kids.
Work is going fine. I have really good kids this year. It is nice.
Karl is still working and that is good.
I cannot believe it is almost Thanksgiving. I am excited. I love Thanksgiving!! All of the food, football, Macy's Parade and relaxing. I will only have that one day I am sure. I will have to get back to doing homework after Thanksgiving Day. Everything is due the following week on Dec. 3rd.
Well, I just wanted to drop in. I am fine, just really busy this semester. Oh, I got enrolled for next semester also. I am taking my second block of Methods. I am excited. It will be assessment and curriculum. I better go. Have a nice week!!

Happy Halloween!! Josh got his braces, so he did not go out this year, but he had fun handing out candy here at the house. I decorated the house for Thanksgiving while he was handing out candy.
Well, like I said Josh got his braces. They are only on the front four teeth for now. They hurt him a couple of days after he got them on, but he is doing fine now.
Molly got her operation this past week...she was spayed. She is doing great. I was so worried about her, but she has done great.
Thursday night was Family Literacy Night at the preschool. It was fun, I am going to post a picture of me reading.

There were four of us reading. They were girls from my class at the college. We had to do this for our class, but it was so much fun!! We had two groups reading, so you see the side I was on in the picture, then on the other side of the room were two more girls reading to kids. At the end we did a leaf activity with the kids and it was a blast.
I am working on a lesson plan for my practicum class now. I am supposed to teach vocabulary from the Pledge of Allegiance. How boring right? This is what the teacher wanted me to teach. I didn't really get to chose. Well, I found a book...the same author as Brown Bear, Brown Bear...it is called I Pledge Allegiance. I am going to read that and talk about the vocabulary with that book. I think that will be more fun that the worksheet the teacher wanted me to use. I do not care for worksheets, they are boring. I will be done with the practicum right before Thanksgiving Break and then we go back to our classroom for lecture.
That is what has been going on. I am totally covered up with homework, so I do not have a lot of time to do anything. I hop on facebook and mess around when I have some extra time, but that is about it.

crazy week...

I have just been doing the same stuff these past couple of weeks, practicum and working. I haven't been overly busy, but I have been tired when I get home, so I haven't even tried to blog or make a post. I try to rest on the weekend.
This will be a crazy week though. The time has finally come for Josh to get his expanders out and get his braces. He does that on Monday. He doesn't have school, so he will not miss anything. Tuesday is normal, I will be in practicum. Wednesday I am doing our fall party at the preschool...yes in the middle of the week because my kids do not come everyday, this is when they will all be there and me too as I am not there Thursday. I have class Thursday and Thursday night a group of us from the college is doing a Family Literacy Night at the preschool. We are going to talk about reading tips, read books and dress up. I am going to dress as Cat in the Hat. I am not reading that book though, I am reading Green Eggs and Ham. It should be fun. This is for our class, and we have to turn tons of stuff in for it. Then Friday is normal. Now, with all of that said, it is time for my co-worker to have her baby!! She is due the 27th, so anytime now. It is a boy, so exciting!! Then of course it is time for Halloween!! I am excited, but it is going to be a crazy week. I hope you have a good one!! Happy Halloween!! staying busy

Josh did just great getting his other two teeth out on Monday. He was fine on Tuesday with no pain. Glad that is all over.
I did not want to go to class on Tuesday because the university was giving me trouble over my liability insurance...saying I had none, but I do. I asked them to call MSTA my insurance and anyway, I am glad I went to class. I got several papers back and I did good on them. I also got cleared for my insurance to work in my practicum. I started my practicum on Thursday. I am working in 2nd grade. It will be good practice because next year when I do student teaching it will need to be in a primary grade, and I am less comfortable in those grades. I am happier in preschool/kindergarten. Thursday was super busy, I went to the practicum, then to work, to the university to return books, then to my co-worker's baby shower. I didn't get home until 8:30PM. I was tired.
I have also been working on cleaning the carpets and furniture this week. I thought I was done, but I want to re-do a rug. It will not take long. Anyway, then once that is dry, I am done.
I also started working on my portfolio for my class, getting what I have completed put into the portfolio. I am going to do some more things this evening since I do not have any homework. We do not have class right now, just practicum, so I need to work on this stuff or it will add up at the end.
I better go work on that carpet, then homework. Have a nice weekend.

October is here...

It has been a while since I have been able to post. Josh is doing better since I last posted and in fact had two teeth pulled last Monday. He did great and the next day said he had no pain at all. I was so happy. He went to school and didn't miss a beat. He has the other two pulled tomorrow and after that we will be done with pulling teeth. We have to get some baby teeth out so later this month they can put his braces on. They will be removing his expanders and putting on the braces. He is happy about getting the expanders out, but not so excited about the braces. I understand, but his teeth are so crooked.
I have been doing homework. I had 8 papers to write last weekend. I worked Friday, Saturday and Sunday on homework. I had one this weekend and I was able to rest. I start my in my methods classroom this week on Thursday. I am excited. It is always fun to learn from teachers and interact with the students.
I fell in the shower yesterday. I was looking for my razor cover and spun around and lost my balance and down I went. I have a bruise on my arm and my chest hurts too. I am fine though.
Karl has been working all over the place. They have been putting the guys everywhere to keep them working, which we are grateful for. He even worked nights for a while and may again. We will see.
I do not want this to get too long, but we have all been very busy and those are just some highlights. We are doing fine and I hope you all are too!! I will try to post sooner next time. I do not think I will be as busy with homework for a while unless I decide to try to work ahead, and I do that sometimes. Have a nice October!!

Since I last posted Josh went to his first school dance. I went a little early and watched the kids and he seemed to be having a lot of fun. He said he liked it when it was over. I am glad.
Saturday Josh went to the Laura Ingall's Wilder house/museum in Mansfield, MO with Karl's parents. They saw a play and looked at the house. He enjoyed that and when they got back there was a rodeo going on near our house, so they went to that too. Josh was not feeling well when he got home that night and the next morning he was running a fever. I do not even know what was wrong because he stayed home today from school, but the fever has broke and he seems fine. It is so strange how that works out.
There is really nothing going on with me. I am trying to get a loan for my school this year. We have been able to pay for it to this point, but now with me being gone from work for class and getting docked pay for every time I am gone...not to mention, I will be gone some with Josh and his teeth...braces, getting teeth pulled, etc. So we have applied for a loan. I believe it has been approved, we just wait. Speaking of Josh's teeth, he was supposed to have his first 2 pulled today, but because he was not feeling well this morning, I canceled the appointment. He goes again next Monday. He will have 2 appointments to get the 4 teeth that need to be pulled.

classes and dances

I have a few minutes before I need to head off to class this morning, so I thought I would make a quick blog entry.
I have been trying to keep up with homework this week. I also went to my doctor yesterday for my check-up and everything was fine. I go back in another year. I really like this doctor, but I am usually there for a really long time because he is so popular and so there is a long wait. My appointment was for 2:40PM and he came in at 3:45PM. That is how it has always been. He does spend about 30 minutes with each patient talking and letting us know what to do. I love him, so I do not mind the wait. Then he wanted me to have some bloodwork done, so that was some more time. I got home around 4:30PM..LOL!!
Today after school Josh is going to a dance. I haven't let him go to any until now, we shall see what he thinks. He will probably tell me how inappropriate it is. He cracks me up. He wanted to try it out though. I want him to do some more things too and see what he enjoys. I wanted him to join some clubs (Student Council, Beta, etc), but his friends think the clubs are stupid, so none of them joined. I think they are just afraid to do something new. Maybe they will find something they enjoy.
Well, I am rambling. I need to get on to class. Do you know how hard it is for me to sit in class from 8AM-11:50AM?? It is hard. I need to move. That is 3 classes all at once...so that is why so long. It is Teaching Methods, so that is why they are taught together like that. They are good classes, I enjoy them.

It was my birthday on Thursday. It was really rainy. I had class, but once I got to the preschool, my co-workers had lots of great presents and goodies to eat. It was fun and the kids always enjoy eating cupcakes. It is one of my co-workers birthday on Monday. We will have another party!!
I have my homework done for next week. I have some small things I need to do for my portfolio that I may work on this weekend a little. We have a big portfolio due at the end of the semester that we need to keep up with all semester or it will be a lot of work at the end.
I go to my neurologist this Wednesday and the following Monday is Josh's appointment to have those teeth pulled...4 canines I believe....to get ready for his braces on October 25th.

Labor Day!!

We did some major cleaning up at the preschool this week. We got a new shed and we were able to move the furniture around and also get one of the offices completely cleaned up and organized this week. We did the office for the speech pathologists, beacause I am in mine much less and we do not let kids in my office. I am so excited about it. I just need to get my office cleaned up now and it will look great.
I have been working on homework this weekend. I am taking 3 classes. I usually take 1-2, so I have that much more homework. It is tough with also working. I didn't think it would be, but it is. The projects we have done so far have been fun and easy, but they are going to get much more difficult. I will make it. Just pray for me.
I am taking tomorrow off from homework. I am going to rest. It is Labor Day!! I hope you all have a great day and it is a short week, so that is wonderful also!! I have 2 new kids starting at the preschool, so I am happy about that. Have a nice week!!

Temple Grandin

I did not realize it had been a week since I had posted. I started my college classes and I think they will be fun. It will be a lot of work, but I think I will like it.
My week was fast. My co-worker and I left for St. Louis Wednesday after school and we got to our hotel around 7PM or so. We had our first conference on Saturday. We heard Paula Kluth, PhD. She spoke on autism and the inclusive classroom. She was great and I learned a lot.
Then Friday we heard Temple Grandin. She was amazing.If you have not seen the movie Temple Grandin on HBO, it is very good. It is up for some Emmy's and I am actually going to watch tomorrow night and hope they win some. Claire Danes played her in the movie. She spoke aboutmany different issues regarding autism including medication, careers, and she took questions.
Then after the conference we went to the St. Louis arch and looked around and took some pictures. There is a museum in the bottom of the arch that has a lot of Lewis and Clark stuff in it, so we went through that. It was fun. Then we headed back home this morning (Saturday)> It was a lot of fun.
When I got home I checked my e-mail for college and I have some homework, so I worked on that a little today and I will try to get it finished tomorrow. It is due Tuesday. I have some presentations and I think my teacher wants me to talk about seeing Temple Grandin to the class.
I am going to go for now. I am really tired. Have a nice week next week. I will not be as busy, so I will try to post again during the week.

I slept in a little this morning. My head is bothering me because of allergies. I took my medicine, so hopefully I will feel better later.
I decided to get the pool drained, so Karl went out and got that started this morning. I know, it seems a bit early, but I am going to St. Louis for a teacher conference this week and I will be tired next weekend most likely and I also start classes this week. I am not going to feel like swimming. I would just rather get it out of the yard so we can get the yard cleaned up for Fall.
So, like I was saying. I am leaving for a teacher conference on Wednesday in St. Louis. It is a 2 day conference, so I will not be home until Friday night. I am going to see Temple Grandin speak on autism. I am going with a co-worker, so we will have fun. I have been looking forward to this all summer since I found out I was going to get to go. I am planning on taking my laptop with me and a camera, so if you are on facebook, I will probably be checking in there.
I start my college Methods courses on Tuesday. I am excited and nervous. I always get nervous when I start a new class...the fear of the unknown. I will be fine once I know what is expected of me. I have class Tuesday and Thursday 8AM-noon. I will obviously miss the Thursday class this week. I e-mailed the teacher this summer, and she was fine with that.
Josh is doing great in school. He seems to love it so far. I am still adjusting to having such a young class at the preschool.

school update...

Josh started school on Tuesday and he has done great. Here is a picture of him.
I took some pictures of him before I took him to school that morning thinking I better not take pictures of him in the middle school. It might be embarrassing for him. When we got there though, it was just his cousin and his friend Chandler, so I had to take a picture of him putting his books in his locker. The boys are trying to pretend I am not there, but even though they are in middle school, they were just little boys. They were asking me what they were supposed to do, what to take to class, all while trying to act big and cool. Josh doesn't act like that yet, but the day is probably coming. Josh is kind of laid back about stuff like that. Anyway, here is Josh's picture at his locker. He has had a good week so far. We got his MAP scores and they had gone up from last year...and if you didn't know, we pulled him from public school last year. Kind of sad that his scores went up when pulled out of school. He went to online school.
I started school with kids on Wednesday. On Monday our director gave us a new schedule to use and my kids are too young to do it...they had us doing center time for 1 1/2 hours. Most of my kids are 3 this year, so I asked if I could use my old schedule which is more chunked up into time intervals of 15-30 minutes and then the kids move to something else. The director said that was fine and today went much better. We do not have many kids right now, but like I said, they are all young. We will also get a lot more kids as the year goes on. We will enjoy it while it lasts.
I need to get fingerprinted again for work. I may try to do that Monday. Next week will be very busy. I will write about that this weekend. I need to get off here for now. I hope your week has been great!! Have a nice day!!

The house is clean and the laundry is done. I have my side dish for tomorrow's meeting ready, so now we are just waiting for my parents to pick up Josh. They will be here about 5PM and he will stay the night with them. I will start work tomorrow. We have a meeting at one of our preschool's and then on my way home I will pick up Josh. I will try to make a post tomorrow if I can. Then Tuesday we work in our classroom's and Josh starts middle school. I have done a lot already at the preschool, so basically I need to get the names on the tables and cubbies and work on the playground a little. One of the sandboxes needs sand and the toys that are usually in the grass are on the rocks. I basically need to get things put back. Then Wednesday the kids start. I am sure I will be back to make a blog post before then, but that is how the week is shaping up. I am going to be so tired from sleeping in and staying up late all summer. I am excited to get another school year started though. Have a nice week!!

swimming and errands

Josh and I spent a few hours swimming yesterday, but other than that, we just hung out at the house trying to enjoy the last couple of days of vacation.
Today we are going to try to swim a little again. There is a chance of pop up rain showers, so we shall see. I kept hearing thunder yetserday, so we came in. I also need to do laundry and take some things down to the preschool. If you are new to my blog, the preschool is less than a mile from my house, so it is easy for me to run down there for short periods of time. I need to feed our fish down there too. Josh's orthodontist appointment went well. The doctor said his palate has moved the amount he had hoped it would at this point and they told me to keep turning the key on his expander to expand it and they will check him in 2 weeks.
I also got the curtains washed at the preschool and my bus driver called, so I think we are all set for school to start. I am really excited to get started this year. Our director has made some changes and if she doesn't change her mind, they will be good changes and it will make my day much better, less exhausting. The classes will start earlier and end earlier, so that will give me more time at the end of the day to do lesson plans. I will learn more at the staff meeting, but I am excited.
Today I am planning on doing nothing. I do not have any plans to be anywhere. I will visit blogs and do what I want. I want this to be a day off and just enjoy before I go back to work.
Ok, so I started using this hair product, it is moroccan oil. Well, it is not the actual moroccan oil, but Argan oil. Have you used it? It takes the frizz out of my hair and makes it looks shiny. I love it. I work with a lady that got some for me at State Beauty Supply, but they have some at Sally Beauty a lot cheaper. I love it, let me know if you have heard of it, or use it. I have this crazy naturally curly hair though, so I have to put stuff in it so it isn't frizzy. Anyway, I just wanted to share that with you.

orthodontist visit...

Josh and I stayed in yesterday because I had a little sunburn. I got the bedding washed....sheets and blankets and I also washed the curtains. I needed to get that done because once school starts, I will be tired and busy. I also ran the new vacuum again. It is fun just to see what it picks up from the floor. We also got Josh's schedule for this year for school. It will be a busy day for him. I also had some online training....(videos) to watch for work, so I watched those while the laundry was going. It was about 2 hours of training on bullying, substance abuse, child abuse and technology dangers.
Today Josh goes back to the orthodontist to see if his expanders are doing what they are supposed to be doing. They told me last time they would do an x-ray and then probably tell me to continue turning the key to tighten his expander. We can handle that.
When we get done at the orthodontist, I need to get the curtains from the preschool and get those washed up.

I got Josh's closet cleaned out Friday and if you are on facebook, you heard the story, but we were cleaning the drawers, so we had underwear and socks out that were too small and they were laying on the floor. The next thing I know Mandy is in there and grabs a pair of socks and then comes back and grabs some underwear. Well, Josh and I kept going with trying on clothes. Josh goes to check on the dogs and he is like "oh my gosh"..."you have to come see this". I come out of the bedroom and here is Molly with the pair of underwear around her neck. It was funny. Here is the picture. I couldn't believe it.
Saturday I went swimming and Josh and Karl played golf. Sunday we went to church and the to Lowe's and got a new vacuum and area rug. We got a Dyson Ball animal vacuum. Have you seen those? I didn't get a picture from online, but it is wonderful, and the junk it picked up from the carpet was gross. We also got an area rug for our living room. I do not have a full picture of it, just one of Mandy sitting on it, but you will get the idea. We have a chocolate brown couch and chair, so it looks nice. Well, we like it anyway.
Monday Josh and I went swimming and I did some laundry. I also called the parents for my preschool kiddos to let them know when school starts.
Today, I was planning to swim again, but I got a little pink yesterday, so we will probably stay in and swim later in the week. It is another hot week near 100º. I will visit blogs today. Josh goes back to the Ortodontist on Wednesday.

ready for school...

We finally got some rain and relief from the 100º temperatures yesterday, it was so nice!! Karl was home, so we got Josh enrolled in 6th grade. He is going to middle school. It is hard to believe he is that age. Then we went to get the rest of Josh's school supplies and we ended up getting him some more clothes. I did some laundry and because it kept raining, I headed down to the preschool and worked in my classroom a little. It felt good to get all of that done.
Today I think I will clean Josh's closet and get his new clothes put in. I also need to do some more laundry.
I got my textbooks for my fall classes this week too. I am all set for college classes. I cannot believe it is Friday. I only have one more week, and then I go back to work. I start school the 16th and Josh the 17th. Have a nice weekend!!

This week is kind of getting away from me. Monday and Tuesday Josh and I went swimming. It has been 100º or near 100º all week.
Today is Josh's 12th birthday. We met my parents this morning and headed to Branson for some birthday shopping for Josh. We went to an outlet mall and I found some shirts for him and some tennis shoes. Then we went to The Branson Landing. I found some more shirts and we ate at Garfield's. The Branson Landing is on a lake, it is gorgeous there. It was a lot of fun. I just wish it wasn't so hot. The picture on the left is Josh in front of the water show fountains at the Branson Landing and the picture below is Josh at Garfield's also at the Branson Landing.

Tomorrow I need to call the school, I had a message from them while we were gone. Have a great day!!

swimming and a baseball game

Josh is doing much better with his expanders. I can understand him now, he is getting used to them and they do not seem to bother him much as far as pain, so that is good news. His speech was messed up when he first got them.
Josh and I went swimming Saturday. I am trying to get my tan back before school starts. Then Sunday we went to church and all of us went to a baseball game (minor league). It was a AA game Springfield Cardinals (St. Louis Cardinals affiliate). Anyway, it was a double header and we got to be in a box that was air conditioned. It was so nice. It was hot out, so I was happy we had the A/C. Karl's Aunt was able to get the tickets for the box, so that is the only way we were able to be up there. She works for a sponser of one. Springfield won one game and lost one game.
Today Josh and I are going to swim some more. The tree trimmers have been here and gone this morning, so hopefully we will be left alone. Have a great day!!

finals, meetings and birthdays oh my!!

My Final went fine and I am finished. I was able to get my books sold and get my books for the Fall ordered online at Amazon. I also got my parking pass for the Fall, so I am ready to start school in late August.
I had a meeting yesterday for work. It was an IEP for a new student I will have when school starts. He is super cute. I am excited to have him in our class.
Josh got his expanders on Wednesday. He is tough. He did say it hurts, but he hasn't cried or complained. I looked them up on YouTube and if those were in my mouth, I would be crying all of the time. He said today they do not hurt as much, so that makes me feel much better. He is having trouble talking though, so hopefully he gets that worked out soon. He will just have to practice.
Josh's birthday is coming up next wednesday (the 4th), so we are planning to go out with my family to celebrate and do some shopping for him too.
Today we are home, but I have a feeling it is going to be a busy day. We shall see. Have a nice weekend!!

Finals!!

I took Josh to the Orothodontist on Wednesday and they put the bands in, they will be putting his spacers/expanders...whatever they are called next Wednesday. Anyway, he did good wed night, but his teeth hurt yesterday and of course I had to go to class. I hate that. They hurt last night too, but when he woke up today he was fine. That is good.
I gave Molly a bath today, we are taking her to the vet for her last round of puppy shots. Then we will need to bring her home and then go back out to Wal~Mart. I need to pick up some things. I am out of allergy medicine, and that is not a good thing for me to be out of. I get bad headaches, and I have to work on my Final this weekend. I need to get that started tonight. I am not going to be around for blogging until I am finished with classes...which is next Thursday...that is when I turn in my Final. I am getting there.

busy week ahead...

I haven't been up to much. I finished my 5-10 page paper on Saturday. Karl and Josh went golfing, so I worked on it and got it finished while they were gone. I started working on it Friday night, so that helped.
I had some stomach problems Sunday, so we didn't go to church. I am doing better now. That is why I haven't posted though, I haven't felt well.
Monday I got the laundry done and Josh and I just hung out all day. He is with my parents so I can go to my class today. He will be back this evening.
We have a lot going on this week. Today is class, tomorrow I take Josh to the orthodontist to get his bands put on for his spacers...he gets those next week. Thursday is class again and Friday Molly goes to the vet for her last round of shots. I also need to work on my Final which is due next week. WOO-HOO!! I will be glad when this class is over. I cannot wait until I do not have to go to summer school anymore. For those of you who do not know, I have 2 years of school left, actually a little less, but I will go to summer school next summer and that will be the last summer.

Josh and I went to the library and he picked out a new book to read. Then we went to the university to the library there and dropped off the puppets and book I used for my lesson. On the way home we stopped at Sonic and we got some vanilla ice-cream, I LOVE their ice-cream and I have been wanting a dish of vanilla for a long time. When we came home I did my lesson plan and typed it, e-mailed my lesson plan from Thursday to my teacher and some pictures of my student that are due Tuesday. Then I also started working on my 5-10 page paper. It is not going to be hard at all. I stopped because there was a movie on last night. We watched The Jenson Project on NBC, it was really good. I enjoyed it.
Today I plan on trying to finish my paper or at least get it almost finished. Then all I will need to do for my class is put together the portfolio. I have most of it done already because it will be things we have been working on all semester.
It was a great day yesterday!! I am so glad, because it was not good Thursday. ;) Have a nice weekend!!

I had a whole other post written, but I decided not to publish it. I did not have a good day yesterday and was sharing about it, but decided not to.
My lesson plan went fine. The teacher said I did a good job. The kids enjoyed the puppets and I was able to teach them some new vocabulary, which was my goal. It was fun.
Today Josh and I are going to the library to return his book, then we are going to the college to return the puppets to the curriculum library. When we get home I need to write a lesson plan and do some laundry. Have a nice day!!
Oh!! I didn't have a good day, but when I got home, I found some siggies from Judy in my e-mail!! Made my whole day!! It is the little things that make me happy. Here is one below.

Josh and I went swimming for a while yesterday, but it was really hot and I had a bad headache, so we came in after 2 hours or so. My headache went away around 4PM. I had it all day. I got some laundry done and I also did a little homework when I started feeling better. I want to write my paper this weekend and start working on my portfolio for my Final. I will have only 2 weeks of class left after today.
So, I go to my class and my lab today. I am doing a lesson again today, this one is a story with puppets. I think the kids will enjoy it. I plan to read the story and the kids will have the puppets, there will be one for each child. Then, I will ask them questions about their puppet as we get to it in the book. I hope they answer me. I will have one more lesson plan next week and those will be done.

My lesson plan did not go as well as I would have liked, but I think I am expecting too much from these kids. The teacher said it went good.
We watched the All Star Game last night and the Home Run Derby the night before. It was a good game, and Big Papi was awesome during the HR Derby.
I need to do some laundry today and Josh and I may swim if it is sunny enough. It is nasty humid here now after the rain we have had.
It doesn't seem like I am doing much, but I am also doing homework a little at a time. Have a great day!!

It starts storming last night right at bedtime again, but this time it stopped after about an hour. I slept really good. I am so glad.
Today I have class. I am doing another lesson plan today in lab. This one is social/emotional, I am reading a book on feelings and we are going to talk about happy, mad, sad, etc. This goes well at the preschool, but these are 2 year olds I am working with this summer. I will get back to you on how this goes. I am not doing the same lesson as I would do at the preschool, but it should be interesting anyway.
Josh will be back home this evening. He should be here when I get home. I think Karl is picking him up from my parents house.

stormy weather

I did not get much sleep last night. We had storms, and they were not scary tornadic storms, but they were loud with thunder and lightening and they just kept going and going. I finally got up and checked the radar on the computer because I wanted to see if we were in any warnings or anything, but we weren't. The storms would go through and then another system would go through. I fell asleep around 2:30-3AM. We all (me, Josh and the dogs) slept in this morning though, so it is fine. Karl had to go to work. I hope he is not too tired. He seemed to be sleeping through all of it though.
Josh is going to spend the night with my parents tonight so I can go to class tomorrow. I have only 3 weeks left and I have so much to do. I think I will try to write one of my papers this weekend. The one that has to be 5-10 pages long.
Today I am doing laundry and cleaning up a bit. We actually have more storms on the way and the weatherman said we got 3 inches last night. I better get moving. Have a nice day!!

The sun is out, so the pool is filtering and I put some chemicals in it. I would love to get out there, but the water is too cold for me.
I did not do much of anything yesterday, but I got the laundry done. I also messed with redecorating this blog. I tried to put a picture in my header, but it didn't work. I do not know why they make all of the headers with frames. That is ok if you know how to do it. I do not have the software to do it.
Josh is home and he had a great time with my parents in Oklahoma. They visited my Uncle Joe and his wife Mildred and I am sure Josh played with their dogs. They went out to eat several times of course and they went to a Cherokee Indian Museum. My mom is Cherokee Indian. Josh loves historical items, so he had fun. I have been before, they have really neat clothing items and dolls that are authentic. That is how I got on my Indian doll kick. I bought some several years ago when my Granie was still living.
Today I need to do some small things for homework and continue working on the pool.

I got my observation done on Wednesday and I got it scored. I have to write a 5-10 page paper about the experience now. I have a lot to say about it, but I am not sure about 5-10 pages. I am going to take a break though. I am tired of doing homework. I know my limits and I need a day off.
My day at class went well and lab did too. I went to pick up my notebook and my lesson plan from the teacher and they had them waiting for me. I was able to get some homework done in class, and I did a little this evening too.
Josh will be back from Oklahoma tomorrow. He went with my parents. I miss him, but I am glad he was with them while I got all of that homework done.
I have not posted, but we went to get me a new computer Wednesday night. It is nothing fancy, but it is a laptop. It is a Compaq. We got it at Best Buy for $299. I love it. We looked at Wal~Mart first, but the computers there didn't have everything I wanted and they cost more. I need to get my graphics transfered over to this computer. The sigtags and days of the week.
I plan to get some laundry done tomorrow. It is rainy here, so I will probably not give Molly her bath. I will probably just rest and visit with Josh when he gets home tomorrow. He is supposed to be home around dinner time or so.

It was not a bad day yesterday, but I did some dumb things to make it not good either. Like I said, it was not a bad day. I went to my class and lab, and my lesson plan went well, I had fun with the kids and I got tons of pictures that I need for my Final. Then I realized. I forgot to give my lesson plan to the teacher and she had left for the day. She has to sign that I did the plan and also make some comments. So, I get my lesson plan out at the end of lab and leave it with the other teacher. I go home, and when I get home, I realize that when I took my lesson plan out, I forgot my notebook too. Good grief. I am really not so disorganized usually, but I was yesterday.
Today, I need to go and do some observing at another childcare facility. It will take several hours I am told. Anyway, I am doing that this morning and then maybe when I am done I might run up to the university for my notebook, but probably not. I will probably just pick up my lesson plan and notebook Thursday before class. If I get home early enough, I will visit blogs, but I may not get to today.

Busy Week

I got my last lesson plan written and typed yesterday and the laundry done. I guess Josh is going to spend the night with my parents tonight and then they are all going to Oklahoma for a couple of days. They will be back Friday. Josh is excited about going.
This is going to be a busy week for me. I keep finding more work to do in my syllabus. I have never had this problem with a class, but I am not sure what I am doing. I e-mailed the teacher last night, so hopefully I will get some answers.
Anyway, like I said, it is going to be a busy week. I will just write what I am doing daily as I blog, so it doesn't take so long.
I have class and lab today. I teach my first of four lessons, they are small mini-lessons, so no I am not nervous, it is what I do at the preschool basically. I also need to try and get a lot of pictures of my focus child. Like I mentioned the other day, we are supposed to have been taking pictures this whole time and I haven't been. I am playing catch up this week.

fireworks and lesson plans

We went to our church 4th of July event last night. I tried to take some pictures, but the battery went out on my camera before the finale. I got a couple I will share.
These were just a couple taken when it first got started, the bigger fireworks came later, but these are still nice. It was fun. There was a concert afterwards. We stayed for a little while and then we headed home.

I went to the preschool yesterday to feed the fish and I found an idea for my last lesson plan, so I think I will write that today and get it over with. I go back to class tomorrow.

I got my lesson plans done, but it was late in the day yesterday. I had a headache all day from not having my allergy medicine. I ran out. Karl went to get me some, I had to take a nap to get rid of the headache, but when I woke up, I did my lesson plans. So that is done. Yay!! I have one left.
Today we are planning to go to our church 4th of July celebration, it is huge. I think last year there were 120,000 people there. It is open to the public. The fireworks are awesome. Anyway, we are going to try to go this evening to see the fireworks. I hope you all have a wonderful 4th of July!! Be safe as we celebrate our freedom!!! Remember those who fought for our freedom and are still fighting to protect our freedom too.

I sat down with my syllabus Thursday night and realized that my assignments are coming up quicker than I thought. I am glad I had planned to do homework yesterday. Josh and I went to my college (MSU), to the Curriculum Library and picked up a curriculum kit for one of my lesson plans. I was able to get 3 lesson plans done instead of two, one typed, I finished up the paperwork I was working on from yesterday and I was able to make an appointment to go visit another childcare center to do an ITERS (an evaluation). Anyway, I got a lot done. The only thing I haven't done is type the last two lesson plans. I will have one lesson plan left, but I will not be doing it for a couple of weeks. This catches me up so I can think. I have a lot to do next week. I need to take a lot of pictures next week. We were supposed to be taking pictures this whole time and I have no pictures. I will just spend one of my labs taking pictures of my focus child, no big deal. This is what I meant the other day when I said some of our lessons are unclear. I am getting there. I also have to put together a power point presentation on all of this for my Final. The power point will take some time, but the rest of this doesn't really take long.
So, today I may get those two lesson plans typed, but if it is sunny...which it isn't supposed to be, we will swim. I could probably do both. Don't worry, I am not sitting around doing homework all day. I am just trying to get some things done.
I know many of you will not be around for the 4th, so Happy Indepedence Day!!! Have a great holiday and be safe!! My dogs are scared to death, the fireworks have already started here around my house. I am glad to have my classes over this week, now I can try to enjoy the holiday weekend. I turned in my papers yesterday and did some more observing and documenting in my lab class. My teacher let me borrow a book to use for a lesson. We have to teach 4 lessons in our lab, so my first one is ready, and I will do it next week, but I want to write my second one so it will be ready. We have a lot of things to get done in these last few weeks. I need to type a lesson plan today and write the one I mentioned. It will actually not take very long, I just need to sit down and do it. I may go ahead and type both of them. That is about it. Josh and I do not have any plans yet today...except me doing homework. Have a nice Friday!!!

I took Josh to the Orthodontist yesterday and basically they told us what they had previously told us, that they would start with an appliance that will spread out the teeth..a spacer that will fit in the top of his mouth and also one on the bottom, and that will stay on for a while, then they will put on his braces. I will keep you posted as things happen because I am not sure what all of these appliances are called etc. Then we went to the vet and picked up Molly's flea medicine. She needs more this weekend.
Today I go to class and turn in tons of homework. It kind of makes me nervous turning in so many things like this at once. This class is kind of confusing...well not clear anyway as to how things are to be done. Hopefully everything is fine.

Orthodontist, vet, homework...

Today Josh has to go to the Orthodontist, it is a consultation visit to let us know exactly what their plan is, so I am not sure how long that will take. Then I need to go to the vet and pick up Molly's flea medicine, they were out when we went last time. Then I guess Josh is going to stay the night with his cousin and go swimming on Thursday. I also need to make sure all of my homework is finished and ready to turn in tomorrow.

The weather was gorgeous yesterday, so Josh and I went swimming and then to the library. I also got the laundry done. Pretty good for me. ;) Here is a picture of what Josh is reading now:

I watched the movie Temple Grandin last night-she is a woman with autism. The movie is on HBO right now, I loved it. Claire Danes plays Temple Grandin. I was glad I watched it. Sometimes it can be very challenging working with children with autism, and this movie was very encouraging and gave me some great ideas to use in the classroom. I get frustrated sometimes, so I needed to see this movie.
Well, today I am off to class. This week is the half way mark! Yay!!! It is also my husband Karl's Birthday!!! Happy Birthday Karl!! Have a great day!!

I was able to get my homework finished last night. I had a midterm to type and it is ready to turn in. It is not due until Thursday, but I can tweak it if I need to this way.
We had crazy thunderstorms last night with lots of thunder and lightening. Mandy is scared of the noise it makes, so she was snuggling with me.
Today I need to do laundry and clean house a little. My dad will be taking Josh to their house to stay the night tonight so I can go to class tomorrow. I am enjoying being home some this summer and spending time with Josh. He has been at my parent's or Karl's parents for the past three summer's and I miss him.
Josh finished his book, so it looks like we will be heading to the library today.

We tried to swim yesteray, but it got cloudy and shortly began to rain, so I took a shower and did some homework. I am glad now that it did rain because I got a lot of homework done and I have one more paper I need to type today or tomorrow. It is Midterms this week for summer school...it goes fast huh? I also caught up on some shows I had on DVR.
We went to church this morning and now I am watching a baseball game.
I cannot believe the 4th of July is next weekend!! That totally snuck up on me. Have a great day!!

I gave Molly a bath and then we took her to the vet for her shot. She did really good and the vet said she looked good too. When we got home I did some laundry. Josh read his book I posted about last week. He is almost done with it, so we will need to go to the library soon.
Today I am plannning on swimming. Karl does not want to swim with us, he said he is going to cut tree limbs. Josh and I will have fun though. Karl is also planning to watch the soccer game and probably the St. Louis Cardinals game. That is about all we have going on today. Have a great day!!

Molly to the vet

My class and lab were ok. I tried to get my focus child to do things on the checklist we have assigned and he is not really into it. I do not blame him at all. I need to see him do some things outside and we stayed in again.

Josh and I had a nice time swimming yesterday. It was very relaxing and kept us nice and cool. Here is a picture of Josh jumping in.

I was on the raft most of the time and Josh played with his basketball toy. It was nice. We are planning on going back out on Saturday if the weather is good. I think it supposed to be hot again Saturday.
There is actually a chance of rain today and upper 80's, so for the farmers, I do hope it rains today. They need the rain for their crops and animals.
I am going to class today. The teacher has given us a lot of check lists to fill out on our focus students, so I will be working on that in lab. Have a great day!!

I came home from my class yesterday and Molly's other ear was up. They are both up now, so I wanted to share a picture. She has had one ear up for a couple of weeks, I just thought the one ear was going to stay down. She looks so cute.

Today I am planning to swim and layout. I got a toy for Josh to play with, it is a basketball hoop for the water and some water balls also. Have a great day!!

Well, the pool is ready and working. We weren't sure if the filter/pump was going to work, but it does. Josh and I had to go get a new set of hoses for it yesterday. We had one of our hoses break. We also picked up some fun things for the pool. I got a mat to lay on and some goggles for Josh. I am hoping to get to swim tomorrow. It has been hot here. It has been in the 90's and humid. The water will feel good.

church service and pool

We had an awesome church service yesterday. It always is, but the Father's Day service was phenominal. Pastor chose Psalm 128 and talked to the men about it. The church gave the guys beef jerkey for Father's Day, so that was fun. I called my dad when I got home, I got him a gift certificate to Olive Garden and a nice card, I will give it to him this afternoon when I see him.
We had some shopping to do after church and then we came home and ate lunch. We had rotisserie chicken and mashed potatoes. It was really good. Then Karl and I started putting the pool up. We haven't had it up for two years because of my classes, but I am home several days this summer (only going to class 2 days a week) and it has been extra hot. I tried to lay out on Saturday and it was too hot with no water to cool off in. It has been in the 90's and humid.
Today I need to try to see if things are working properly with the pool. We started putting it up late so it didn't get full. I will have to work on it some today too. If working properly, I should be able to use it on Wednesday. It is ice cold right now. My fingers are crossed. Have a wonderful day!!

I laid out in the sun for a while yesterday, but it was so hot, I just stayed out for about an hour. I was able to give Molly her bath, so that is done for a while.
Josh went to his cousin's birthday party. They went to a paint ball place. He said he had a good time. I understand they played paintball, had birthday cake, then ate lunch. They went out of town, so he didn't get home until around 6PM or so and left at 8AM.
Today we are going to church. I think we are going to try to put up our pool up. I told Karl in May it was going to be a hot summer. He didn't listen.
I also need to call my dad and wish him a Happy Father's Day. I will get to see my dad tomorrow. Have a great day!!

birthday party, Molly and little boys

Josh is going to his cousin's birthday party today. They are going to do paintball. I am not sure Josh will like it, but he wants to be at the party for his cousin.
I need to give Molly a bath today. I have been giving her a bath on Friday, but I got busy yesterday.
My nephews all came over yesterday to play with Josh, so there were 3 boys running around the house. They were actually very good, and I was able to clean the house and do laundry. Then we went to get ice-cream and a drink. There was an older gentleman in there and he commented how good the boys were. When we got home, one of them took all of his clothes off except his underwear and did a dance. Good grief!! I am glad they were good when we were out. The boys played games a bit too. Then afterwards Karl, Josh and I had pizza for dinner. That is about it. Have a nice weekend.

My class turned out to be a lot more fun that I thought it would be yesterday. We went to the library and our teacher let us look around and find fun curriculum items for our kids. Then in lab, it was a ton of fun. It is usually kind of boring. It was a great day!!
Josh was home when I got home, he had fun with his cousins swimming and playing.
Today we do not have any plans. I would love to keep it that way. Josh is tired and has a birthday party to go to tomorrow. I might go through my class handouts and see what is coming up next for class to get prepared. Have a wonderful weekend!!

Josh went swimming at my sister-in-law's house yesterday and he ended up spending the night, so he may do some more swimming today. I went to the dentist yesterday and my mouth hurt all evening. It doesn't usually hurt. I had a cavity filled. I am not sure why it hurt so much. It hurt when I went to bed, but this morning it is all better. Thank-goodness, I would hate to have to go to class in pain again...last week it was my back.
Today I go to my class. We are meeting in the library like we do for several other classes I have had to look at the curriculum library. It is really neat and a wonderful resource for teachers, but for us to have to tour it for several classes is ridiculous. Then I go to my lab. It is a long day for me, I will be home around 6:30PM.

St. Jude's Dream Home...more info....

Several of you asked about the St. Jude's Dream Home. It is a home that is built and then people buy tickets (chances) to win the home. The tickets are $100 each and are limited to 6000 tickets. The money that is made all goes to St. Jude's Children's Hospital. I understand that several cities build these, and some of you mentioned you had heard of it, but others weren't sure what it was, so that is the short story. I did not take pictures, but I grabbed a picture off a local website of it and I have a link to a virtual tour if you are interested. It is not long, maybe a minute. It is a gorgeous home. Josh and I went to the library, he picked out a book. I cannot remember what it is called, but it is a historical fiction book about a boy during the Dustbowl. He read it for a long time yesterday, so I am glad he likes it. The same author has written some other books like this one, so if he really likes it he will probably want to check out another one next time.
Today is class and lab, I will be gone all day pretty much. If I am able to, I will visit blogs this morning, otherwise, I will see you all tomorrow. Have a wonderful day.

After church, we picked up Josh and then went to tour the St. Jude's Dream Home. It is beautiful and I would love to have a home like that. We had a lot of fun looking at it. It had a tornado shelter that you could get to from inside the house, the master bedroom was huge, media room, screened patio, fire place, 4 bed rooms, 3 1/2 baths. Just loved it.
I also got some cleaning done, but did not get my laundry done. I need to change the sheets and wash them today and I would like to try to take Josh to the library today so he can get a new book to read. I didn't make it on Friday.
My parents will be here this afternoon to pick up Josh. He is spending the night with them so I can go to my class tomorrow.
My back is pretty much all better. Friday I was feeling dizzy, I think I was taking too many medications (tylenol). I switched to Motrin and I am doing much better. That is why I didn't take Josh to the library.

church and laundry

We had a nice relaxing Saturday and didn't do too much. We went out to dinner with Karl's sister, her husband and their son last night. It was fun, we ended up visiting for a long time and then Josh spent the night with them.
Today we are going to church. We have missed the past two weeks. I was sick one week and Josh's sunburn last week kept us home. Then we need to run to Wal~Mart and pick up something for me to take to class to eat. My class schedule is weird (12-5:30). I am not hungry before I leave for class and I am definitely hungry by the end of the day. I need to plan better. I will take something with me and eat in class. The teacher said that was fine and the class was all eating in class last time. I was starving the other day after class and lab. Let's see, I also need to do laundry and maybe clean a little. Have a wonderful day!!
