Well, let me back up and actually say that we had a wonderful Thanksgiving. We spent the day with my parents. We got there around 10:30AM, so I was able to help cook and Josh watched the Macy's Day parade and the Dog Show. The food was wonderful because my mom makes everything homemade, I even got Josh to help peel potatoes. It was fun. After we ate we watched football a little and Josh made up a game for all of us to play. It was like family feud. The weather was crazy. We had freezing rain and sleet and it was so cold. It was hot in the house though. It was a fun day. We gave my mom her gift and sang Happy Birthday to her, we got her a frame that says "Nana always makes me smile". She loved it. She also had her favorite German Chocolate cake for her birthday cake. She made Coconut Cream pie, it was awesome!!
Well, if you have been reading my blog for many years, you probably know I am not the one that goes out shopping on Black Friday, it is Karl. He went out this morning early to Kohl's and other places and got most of the Christmas presents. I just need to get presents for my co-workers and my dad and I think everyone is taken care of. We didn't buy anything "big" this year for ourselves. He is wanting to buy a shed, we need to talk about it, he is out shopping again though.
I took my Fall/Thanksgiving things down last night and put them away. I am hoping we can put up Christmas things later today inside the house.
I do want to ask for your prayers. Karl has been laid off. This happens from time to time and hopefully he will be back working by the first of the year, but just pray that December and early January goes smoothly for us. I think we will be just fine.
I hope if you celebrate Thanksgiving it was wonderful and if not I hope you have a great weekend!! Is everyone ready for Christmas??? I am so excited!!
Thanks for your comment on my blog. Looks like you had a great Thanksgiving, we did too!! We had some sleet too, and it was cold, also cold today, but it was definitely warm in the house, with ovens going!! Have a great weekend. I am not a shopper either lol!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a great Thanksgiving. I wish I had the energy to go out and get the deals but hey.. I take advantage of Cyber Saturday... I have everything already on hold at Amazon.com... I just need to enter payment info and off I go... Have fun decorating for Christmas!

Hey Lori, thanks for stopping by my blog! I will pray for you during this time! My husband lost his job last December and still hasn't found anything full time to replace it! He's doing odd jobs and we are fine financially...it's the insurance that's killing us! We have applications in all over the place, but so far he hasn't had even an interview! :( I know how hard it is so I will definitely be praying!
ReplyDeleteHi Lori..sounds like you had a great Thanksgiving! We did too, we all were at Pam's (Splashes of Joy) and had a wonderful meal and lots of fun playing games and just being together. I didn't go out shopping this year..I usually go with my daughter and daughter in law but nothing we seen in the ads really made us want to go out in the cold weather!!
ReplyDeletePraying for your hubby and the job situation...God Bless!!
Happy Thanksgiving weekend Lori :)
ReplyDeleteThat is great Karl goes out on Black Friday! They are saying that there will be even bigger bargains starting in Dec. So I always hold off until the first of Dec. I got my flat screen Sony which was cheaper than the Black Friday sales last year on Dec 1st ;) Have a wonderful Sunday! We off to Mexico for some shopping.
Hugs, Dru
I'm glad you had a nice Thanksgiving... And I hope your husband gets his job (or another job) back soon!!!!

ReplyDeleteHI Lori, yes I do remember that Karl shops on Black Friday. LOL! my husband and I cannot stand to shop on that day. I am sorry about Karl, it has been a very very hard year and I am so shocked at all the things that are going on in this country. I will be praying for Karl things are awful where Steve works but at least it's a job. I get so scared and have to pray so hard these are difficult times, but God does bless us. I am glad you will be okay lots of construction people are having a hard time. It's so sad. Glad you had a wonderful Thanksgiving your mom cooks good! Big hugs and happy belated birthday to your mom!
