Sunday Stealing- Bicycle Sidewalk

                             https://sundaystealing.blogspot.com/

1. Do you think animals dream?  Yes, I do.  My dogs seem to anyway, they look like they are running in their sleep and sometimes they growl a little bit or bark.  Super cute.
2. Have you ever been to a fortune teller or psychic?  no
3. How important is it to have a low stress job?  somewhat, I feel like my job is worth the stress to serve those kids.  I feel that way for now anyway.
4. Do you always lock your house?  yes
5. What do you do if you feel lonely?  I rarely feel lonely.  I am an only child, so I learned to entertain myself as a small child.  If I am bored though, I read, watch tv, clean house or listen to music.
6. Have you ever driven a sports car?  yes!
7. Have you ever fallen down the stairs?  I fell down one stair and hurt my arms pretty badly a few years ago.  It is a funny story, but I was in a great deal of pain for a long time.
8. What do you think about the death penalty?  I am for it.
9. What do you think about animal testing?  I don't like it.
10. What are your neighbors like?  We really do not have neighbors that live very close.  There is a school close to us (not the one I work at).

13. Is it important to always tell the truth?  I try to tell the truth unless the truth is going to hurt someone, then I do not say anything.

15. Do computers really help us save time?  I don't know how...every time I get on the computer I get sucked in for a long time.
16. Do you have any tattoos?  no
17. Do you pray every day?  I pray mosy days, if I do not it is because I am exhausted and I fell asleep too quick.

19. How do you feel about changing your nationality?  no thanks.
20. Would you ever buy a used car?  yes and I have.  I have bought used and new.
21. Should you spank a child when they do something wrong?  I spanked Josh when he was wearing a diaper...not hard just enough to get his attention, so it didn't hurt him and told him no when he was little.  Then when he got older I didn't have to do that.  He was such a good easy kid.
22. Has science made a negative impact on society?  in some ways yes.
23. Have you ever gone on a blind date?  yes.  I dated that guy for about a year, but he was not good for me, so we broke up.
24. Do you believe there is life after death?  I believe in eternal life with Jesus.

Saturday 9- On the Radio

     http://samanthasaturday9.blogspot.com/

Saturday 9: On the Radio (1979)

Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.

1) The action begins when a letter falls out of the pocket of a brown overcoat. What color is your coat?  It is cream colored.

2) The lyrics ask if it "kinda strikes you sad when you hear our song." We don't want to be sad this Saturday, so we're asking what song makes you happy.  Old songs from when I was in college or high school.  The songs take me back to that time when they were popular.

3) Right before this song hit the charts, Donna Summer hit the cover of Newsweek. Are there any magazines in your home now? If yes, who is on the cover?  I have some Conservationist magazines, but there are just animals on them.  I haven't read magazines in years.  I do like them though.

4) Donna wrote the lyrics to this song, while producer Giorgio Moroder wrote the tune. Moroder is known as "the father of disco." Is disco a genre you enjoy?  nope

5) This song got additional airplay throughout the 1980s because the game show The Price Is Right played it every time a contestant won a stereo. Today, the most popular audio equipment sold at Best Buy is a sound bar to improve the quality of TV audio. Have you added a sound bar or sound system to your TV?  We have a surround system with speakers in different places in our house in our living room...mostly for baseball or football games and movies.

6) Moroder has won two Academy Awards for Best Song. The first was for "Flashdance ... What a Feeling" from Flashdance and the second was for "Take My Breath Away" from Top Gun. Do you  have a favorite movie soundtrack?  I have enjoyed several over the years, but I cannot say I have a favorite.

7) He grew up in Ortsei, Italy. Located in Northern Italy, the Ortsei economy is fueled by tourists who ski in winter, hike in summer and shop for woodcarvings all year around. Do out-of-towners fund their way to your hometown more often in summer or winter?  summer.  We have beautiful lakes and Silver Dollar City where I live.

8) Kourtney Kardashian was born in 1979, the year this record was a hit. Keeping Up with the Kardashians has been on since 2007. Have you ever seen it?  nope

9) Random question -- When getting dressed in the morning, what's the second item of clothing you put on?  bra

Sunday Stealing- Getting to Know You

https://sundaystealing.blogspot.com/

                            https://sundaystealing.blogspot.com/

1. What is your favorite color? all of them.
2. If you could get on a plane tomorrow and travel anywhere, where would you go?  Hawaii, I am craving some warmth.
3. Were you closer to your mother or to your father  my dad, he passed away 2 years ago.  I do try to spend time with my mom now and while we do not have the same connection as me and my dad I do love her very much.  This picture is from my college graduation.  I was 22.  He was probably my age now.

4. What is your favorite meal (savory and dessert) fried chicken, mashed potatoes/gravy...dessert would be coconut cream pie.
5. Can you wink with each eye?  Yes (How about curl your tongue)  Yes
6. Beach or forest?  Beach, I have always lived near the forest.  I haven't been to the beach in a long time.
7. City or farm?  farm, I lived in the city for a bit, but I came right back to the country.  I love the quiet and the older I get the less I want the noise.
8. Would you rather be blind from birth or turn blind as a teenager?  oh geez.  I am going to say go blind as a teenager so I have all of the memories of what things look like and I would kind of know what people were talking about.
9. Would you rather always be overdressed or underdressed?  overdressed
10. If you could pass along one of your attributes to your children, which would it be?  People tell me I have pretty eyes and a pretty smile, so I guess those, but Josh has Karl's eyes...which are way prettier than mine and Karl's dad's smile.  He did get my youthful look.  This is Josh and his friend Tara.  Josh has light blue eyes.  I think he got a little of my curls, but we keep his hair short usually.

11. What are you most insecure about?  my weight
12. What are you afraid people see when they look at you?  just that I am fat
13. What is the saddest you’ve ever felt?  Probably when my Papa died.  I went into a depression.  I didn't even realize it.  He was the first person that I was close to that died.  It has gotten easier since, but it is still very hard.  Josh had a hard time when my dad died...same reason I think.
14. Would you rather have your own private island, or your own private jet?  My own private island.
15. How do you think you will die?  I think something will go haywire with my health

Saturday 9- Buttons and Bows

http://samanthasaturday9.blogspot.com/

Saturday 9: Buttons & Bows (1948)

Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.

1) The lyrics extol the beauty of "rings and things and buttons and bows." When you're getting dressed, do you give much thought to accessorizing? no, none.  I work with children with autism, so I do not wear anything they can pull.  I did wear some accessories to my nephew's wedding.  It is rare ya'll.

2) Dinah Shore sings that she doesn't want to live where the cactus hurts her toes. Sam can sympathize, as she has a blister on one of her toes from where her winter boots rub. Do you have any aches and pains to report this morning?  My hips hurt most of the time...it is arthritis, but it is manageable.

3) Dinah was such a popular entertainer that people were surprised to learn she earned a degree in sociology from Vanderbilt University. What is something we'd be surprised to know about you?  I too earned a degree in sociology.  When I was young, I wanted to do social work and then I didn't...*eye roll*.  I earned my certification in education after Josh was born.  I have only been teaching 15 years.

4) Dinah's was the best selling version of this song, which was introduced by Bob Hope in the movie The Paleface. Hope had success early in his career as a song-and-dance man on Broadway. Are you better at telling jokes, singing or dancing?  none of them,  but I would say singing.  I was in choir in college...that may be a better answer for the above question.

5) Both Bob and Dinah donated their time to entertaining the troops in WWII. It was during a USO tour that Dinah met and fell in love with actor George Montgomery, who was serving in the Air Force. They were married for 20 years and had two children. Their daughter followed her parents into show business and became an actress. If a young person asked you for career advice, what would you tell them?  I would tell them to figure out what they love and do it.  That they can do anything they want or set their mind to.  You need to be happy and love your job.

6) Dinah was an avid golfer and even sponsored an LPGA tournament. She was also an excellent cook who hosted TV cooking segments. Which would you find more relaxing -- an afternoon on the golf course or in the kitchen?  Oh gross!  Neither one of those would relax me.  How about a day at the beach?  Of those two things, I would enjoy cooking better.

7) In 1948, the year this record was a hit, Scrabble was introduced. Do you prefer word games, card games, board games or jigsaw puzzles?  board games.

8) Also in 1948, LPs (33 1/3 rpm records) were introduced. Do you have any vinyl records in your home?  Yes we do.  Josh is into vinyl.  I like it too.

9) Random question -- Which of these would you consider the greatest insult: to be called boring, untrustworthy or stupid?  I suppose it would depend on who is saying it.  I think anyone who would call someone any of those things is possibly someone I may not care what they think.

Tuesday 4 Meme- Toiletries and Cosmetics

https://tuesdaysplace.blogspot.com/

1. What brand of shampoo do you think works best for you and what does it do for you?
I use Matrix Biolage.  I feel like it cleans my hair really well.  I use a lot of hair products in my curly hair, so I need a good shampoo to get them all out.  I love the way it smells too.

2. Do you have a favorite  brand and shade of lipstick and blush?
I do not wear lipstick, but for blush I wear Clinique Mocha Pink.

3. Is soap your favorite for face washing or do you use other products?
I use Garnier Micellar Foaming Gel Cleaner or Purity by Philosophy...they both break up the make-up and make it wash off easier.

4. Do you have an all time favorite perfume or scent that you wear? If you don't wear perfumes, is there a scent that you love in general?
I do not wear perfumes.  I did when I was younger, but not any more.  When Josh was a baby he was allergic to perfumes, so I quit wearing it.  Sometimes I wear lotions, but it depends on my mood which one I wear.  I have lots of them from Bath & Body.

Saturday 9- Secret Valentine

http://samanthasaturday9.blogspot.com/

Saturday 9: Secret Valentine (2008)

In honor of Valentine's Day. Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.

1) The lyrics talk about a song that's so romantic it "turns out the lights." Are the lights on in the room you're in right now?  Yes, I am watching the news...well it is on and I am filling this out.

2) In the video, our heroine's Valentine's Day adventure begins with a note slipped into her pocket. What's in your pocket right now?  no pockets

3) This week's band, We the Kings, are proud sons of the state of Florida. Bradenton, to be exact. They even called one of their CDs Sunshine State of Mind. Have you ever been to Florida? If so, where have you visited?  I have been a few times.  I have been to Kissimmee and Orlando area when we went to Disney World, Tampa Bay and Cocoa Beach and I have been to Pensacola when we went on an adventure when we went to Alabama.  Just a short drive.

4) Lead singer Travis Clark has a pierced lip but doesn't always wear a lip ring. Do you have any piercings? If yes, are you wearing jewelry in your piercing(s) right now?  When I was in college I had my ears pierced 5 times...3 in one ear and two in the other.  My roommates all did this.  I have no other piercings.  I do not ever wear earrings anymore.  I did wear earrings for my nephew's wedding, but I was dressed up.  It is rare.

5) The band's name comes from a cheer they did when they attended Martha B. King High School. Have you attended your high school reunion?  no

6) Hearts are the symbol of Valentine's Day, so here's a little heart trivia: whales have largest heart of any animal. When we say a person is "big hearted," it means we think of them as generous. Think about the people in your life. Who would you describe as big hearted?  My co-worker Lori.  I have talked about her before.  She is an angel on Earth.

7) It's estimated that 9 million people buy Valentine's Day presents for their dogs and cats. Have you ever purchased a holiday gift for a pet?  I have in the past, I always buy them Santa Paws gifts, but I did not get anything special for Valentine's Day.  They have big birthdays too.  I made them Easter baskets one year too and they do egg hunts...you put the treats in a plastic egg and they find them.  Now we all know I have lost my mind.  Hahahaha

8) Valentines to teachers are also big sellers. Did you ever have a crush on one of your instructors?  no

9) With the popularity of e-cards, fewer Valentine messages are sent via the USPS. What's the most recent thing you dropped into a mailbox?  We are doing a post office unit at the preschool, so we mailed letters with the kids.

Tuesday 4 Meme- Reading is Fundamental

https://tuesdaysplace.blogspot.com/

1.  Do you have some favorite books to share?(if you don't read, how about favorite TV programs or movies?)  The Woman in the Window-A.J. Finn, Big Little Lies- Liane Moriarty, Don't You Cry- Mary Kubica, The Secret to Hummingbird Cake-Celeste Fletcher McHale, The All Girl Filling Station's Last Reunion- Fannie Flagg.  I highly recommend all of these books, but they may not be your genre.

2.  When looking for  a book(or program) what things do you look for?  I like to check reviews on books.  If a book has really good reviews and if the synopsis sounds intersting to me and catches my attention, I will put it on my "to read" list.  I am rarely disappointed.

3.  Does the cover of a book make a difference or help you choose?(or do trailers help you decide on a TV or movie program?)  not really.  I read a lot about what the book is about and how other people have liked it before I see the cover or even think about checking it out.

4.  What is your favorite genre of book, TV or movie? That is, is it science fiction, romance, mystery, true story, biography?   This is a little weird...ok, so I only found this out about myself over the summer, but my favorite genre to read is suspense or psychological thrillers.  However, I cannot watch the same genre in a movie.  It will give me nightmares.  I think it is the music.  The books do not bother me though and I love them.  You all know I love to watch Hallmark movies...same thing....I am not interested in reading a romance novel.  Isn't that weird?  I look at it as I am getting a little bit of every genre through books and movies combined.  I do enjoy lots of genres when reading, just not romance.  If you want to read a good romance though...Evvie Drake Starts Over is good!

Saturday 9- Two Divided by Love

http://samanthasaturday9.blogspot.com/

Two Divided by Love (1971) Unfamiliar with this week's song? You can hear it here.

1) Sam's teacher told her she'd use math every day. What's the last math problem you solved? (Did you add to/subtract from the balance of your checkbook ... use division to figure out how much you'd save with 25% off that sweater ...)  Today I was figuring some percentages.

2) The lyrics tell us that if you take away the rain from a flower, the flower just won't grow. Do you have any indoor houseplants? Could they use a drink of water this morning?  I do not have any indoor plants at this time.

3) This week's artists, The Grass Roots, are introduced in this video by country music superstar Kenny Rogers. Who is your favorite country music singer? Garth Brooks

4) The two unmarried members of the group -- guitarist Warren Entner and drummer Ricky Coonce -- competed for a lady's affection on a 1968 episode of The Dating Game. Neither of them won! She chose Bachelor #1. Anyway, have you ever appeared on a game show? Do you know anyone who has?  I have not appeared on a gameshow, but one of my co-workers was on The Price is Right.  She got to play and I think she won a car possibly.  I can't remember.  It had to be a long time ago.

5) The Grass Roots were originally called The 13th Floor. They chose this cheeky name because many high rises do not have a 13th floor since 13 is considered an unlucky number, and they were thumbing their noses at superstition. Are you superstitious?  I am when it comes to sports, but not really anything else.

6) At the time of his death in 2011, group leader Rob Grill was still playing music, touring with a reconfigured Grass Roots. His widow Nancy referred to him as "one lucky son of a gun" because he'd been able to support himself as a musician, doing what he loved for 45 years. In what ways do you consider yourself fortunate?  I get to do what I love to do also...teach kids.

7) In 1971, the year this song was released, Walt Disney World opened in Florida. The Epcot Center was added in 1982. Have you ever visited this, or any, Disney theme park?  I have visited Disney World two times which included all of their parks in Florida.  That was quite a workout.

8) Fresh chicken was just 43¢/lb. in 1971. Do you prefer the breast or drumstick?  I am a child, I like the drumstick because it is easy.

9) Random question: Do you work well under pressure?  I think I work better under pressure.  It seems to make you focus better.

Tuesday 4 Meme- Home Work

                   https://tuesdaysplace.blogspot.com/

1.  Are you an impulse  buyer or do you weigh the value/cost/ necessity before you buy?
No, I only buy what I need and I do weigh the value/cost and necessity before I buy.

2. What do you really resent having to pay for?  I try not to think about it, but I am not a fan of paying taxes on crap like this impeachment stuff...or however the taxpayers are paying for it.  Maybe it should come out of their politician salaries, or maybe they should be more careful with my money.  I am also not a fan of being the one paying  for "free stuff" for other people when it is hard for us to get by.

3.   Do you have  favorite brands of household cleaners, detergents, soaps? Can you tell us why you like them? Maybe you will give us better ideas.  I like Tide detergent and Downy softener.  I also use Purex Crystals to make my clothes smell nice and fresh.  I use Tone body wash for showering.  I like that because it bubbles up nice.

4.  What is a typical day of housekeeping for you?  I work everyday, so when I do housework, I have to make a list and cross things off because it is all getting done at once.  In the summer when I am home, I like to clean a little bit everyday.  I might clean bathrooms one day and be done, floors another day and so on.  If I have a lot of energy, I will do it all at once and have it done for the week.
