Saturday 9- Waiting All Day for Sunday Night

http://samanthasaturday9.blogspot.com/

Saturday 9: Waiting All Day for Sunday Night (2012)

Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.

1) This week's Saturday 9 has a football theme because there's a big game Sunday. Will you be watching?  YES! I am a Kansas City Chiefs fan, I lived in Kansas City for a little while too after college.  I have always been a Chiefs fan though, so GO CHIEFS.  I love watching the commercials and halftime too.  I even like the team we are playing the 49ers.  Here is our quarterback Patrick Mahomes.  He is such a great guy.

2) The Super Bowl is a big day for food consumption in the US, second only to Thanksgiving. What's on your menu this weekend?  We are planning to smoke some meat Saturday and make nachos with cheese and BBQ meat and some kind of pizza.  We had meatball sliders for the playoffs.

3) The NFL has decreed that the Super Bowl will never be played in a city that has a median February temperature of less than 50º. Would your hometown qualify for the Big Game?  no,  Kansas City will never have a Superbowl  because we do not have a dome...but it is supposed to be near 70º in Missouri on Superbowl Sunday!  It has also snowed a few times already this season in Kansas City.  They cannot take that chance.  Arrowhead is a great stadium though!

4) This version of the NFL theme song mentions the Steelers and the Broncos. During the regular season, which team do you root for? How did they do in 2019? Kansas City Chiefs!

5) This version of the Sunday Night Football song is by Faith Hill. She also has ties to the MLB, since her husband is Tim McGraw, son of the Mets' pitcher Tug McGraw. Which sport do you prefer -- baseball or football?  Well, I love them both.  I have been a fan of football longer than baseball.  However, I have been to more baseball games in person.  I really think I love them equally.  I mean with Mahomes with the Chiefs and the St. Louis Cardinals always decent as a team....I enjoy them both.  Before Patrick Mahomes I would have said baseball easy.  The Chiefs were not very good and they were hard to watch.  It has been 50 years since we have been to the Superbowl!  Baseball was my passion for so many years and I always watched the Chiefs, but they just didn't win.  It is easy to love the Cardinals, they almost always compete.  So currently I will say a tie.  Here is Yadi though.

6) Faith has performed live at more than one The Super Bowl in the past, performing both "America, the Beautiful" and "The Star Spangled Banner." What's your favorite patriotic song?  I love them all.  I love this country and I know it has a questionable history, but it is good to remember that and try to better ourselves.

7) She has a perfume line with Coty that was a big seller at CVS during Christmas 2018. What's the last item you bought at a drugstore? medicine.

8) Faith Hill is the producer of a talk show on CMT called Pickler and Ben. Is the TV on as you answer these questions? If so, what are you watching?  It is Thursday night and I am watching the news.

9) Random question: You've got a chip in your hand and three dips to choose from -- guacamole, salsa, and onion. Where does your chip get dipped? what kind of chip?  It really does depend for me...so tortilla type chips I would choose salsa, but most other chips I would choose French onion.

Tuesday 4 Meme-

https://tuesdaysplace.blogspot.com/

Do You Wanna Build a Snowman?

Here we go:

1. Have you built snowmen, women or even entire families of snow people like little sister Tootie did in Meet Me in St. Louis?
Did you use a carrot for the nose?   Tell us all about how it .  No, we have mostly only built snowmen and once we built a snow dog when we first got Mandy.

2.
Are you hoping for snowmen to melt soon in hotter weather?  Tell us about your favorite time of year and please let us know why you love it. List some ingredient of that season that make it special for you.  My favorite season is actually summer.  I enjoy being home with my son Josh and doing fun things and going places.  I cannot do that very often when I am working.  I enjoy reading and the sun is out most of the time.

3.
Remember bundling up as a child? It took so long to do then you had to go potty and all those layers had to come off again!
Is dressing up something you enjoy doing ?  Why?  I do not love dressing up, I am not very comfortable when I am dressed up.  I do on special occasions dress up though.

4.
In Frozen, the little girl desperately wants to reconnect with her sister and reminds her of the happy times of building snowmen.  Are you disconnected from anyone you'd love to reunite with?
What happy times with friends and siblings brings you fond memories and smiles to you?  I am not disconnected with anyone I want to be reconnected with.  I love to go out with my friends and laugh and have a great time.

Sunday Stealing- Winter Questions

https://sundaystealing.blogspot.com/

How do you get past the gray skies during winter?  It helps when the sun comes out and it does in the winter a little.  I get excited when it snows, which it doesn't much here it seems.

Do you like snow? Why or why not?  I love snow, it is magical to watch it fall and it is so beautiful and pure when it first falls.  If it is cold anyway, I feel like we may as well have snow.

What are your favorite activities to do during the winter?  I like to watch movies or binge tv shows in the winter when I am stuck at home.  Today we went to see Les Miserables though and we loved it!  We took my mom and she just loved it.

What does a perfect winter day look like to you?  It is snowing outside, nice big fluffly flakes and we are inside warm and cozy drinking hot chocolate and relaxing.

What are your favorite meals/food you enjoy eating during the winter?  We enjoy chili or chicken and dumplings for something warm in the winter.

What is your favorite winter holiday and why?  Christmas.  I just really get into the Christmas spirit when it is snowing or cold.

What is your favorite pizza flavor and toppings.  I like canadian bacon or ham with hamburger.

What are some items in your daily bag/ backpack. wallet, cell phone, lotion for my hands, hair tie, gum, glasses and sun glasses.  There are more things, but those are propbably my top things I use.  Oh and Tylenol.

Your favorite snacks. chocolate and maybe cheez-its, I like sweet and salty.

Some foreign countries that you would like to visit  Italy, London, Germany, Australia, Mexico, Canada...I would be really happy just traveling around all of the time.

What things that remind you of home  my dogs and family, hills and trees, lakes, St. Louis Cardinals and Kansas City Chiefs.

If you have one, some items from your Amazon Wishlist  I might have some prescription sunglasses on there, but not too many things right now.

What was your favorite Christmas gift?  My doll house my Grandpa made for me when I was a kid.  I still have it at my mom's house.

Saturday 9- Go Where Baby Lives

http://samanthasaturday9.blogspot.com/

Go Where Baby Lives (1957)

Unfamiliar with this week's song. Hear it here

1) The lyrics tell us that the girl of his dreams lives up on a hill. Is there a hill near your home? Or is the terrain pretty flat where you are?   It is hilly where I live.

2) Another clue to her whereabouts is that she's about a mile from town. Will you be staying close to home this weekend, or will you be traveling a mile or more?  This weekend we are going to see Les Miserables, so we will be traveling a little.

3) Sam admits she's crazy about the sax solo. Is there a particular musical instrument that you love to listen to? I like drums and I enjoy the trumpet.

4) This is the only record The Strollers made for States, a company based out of Chicago. States was only in existence for five years (1952-57) and this was the 63rd or 64 records released before they went out of business. Tell us about a business in your neighborhood that recently closed their doors.  Well, I live in the country, but there is a grocery store that has been on the news the past week that is going out of business called Lucky's.  It was a more healthy food store.

5) More than 60 years after its initial release, this song enjoyed new popularity when Xfinity used it in commercials for their wifi. What company is your internet service provider? Are you happy with it?  We have Centurytel or Centurylink, whatever they are calling themselves these days.  We love it because we live really close to the DSL main station.  We hardly ever have problems and we have a really good and fast connection.

6) In researching this week's song, Sam googled "strollers" and was surprised to discover how many different types of baby buggies are available today. When did you most recently push a child in a stroller?  I can't remember...surely it wasn't Josh.  We have babies where I work, but I do not work with the babies.

7) In 1957, the year this song was released, President Eisenhower celebrated his second inaugural with a parade featuring more than 50 marching bands. The mercury never quite reached 45º that day. How's the weather outside your front door?  It cannot decide what it wants to do...it is around 31º and it has sleeted, freezing rain, rain...everything but snow basically.

8) One of the best-selling books of 1957 was Peyton Place. This steamy saga of small town life launched two films, two television series, and several made-for-tv movies. Is there a book that you enjoyed that was successfully turned to a movie?  Well, I really enjoyed Big Little Lies over the summer and it is a tv show, does that count?  It is a great book.  I saw Woman in the Window is going to be a movie, but I do not know that I can watch it.  I loved the book, but the music can really scare me sometimes during movies.

9) A Peyton Place-inspired question: Can a man be physically unfaithful to a woman, but still love her?  I guess so.  I can't really know a person's feelings.  I wouldn't stick around if that happened to me though.

Tuesday 4 Meme- Hobby Girls..

https://tuesdaysplace.blogspot.com/

1. Do you have a hobby or a special interest?  Do you quilt, crochet, cook, sew, collect things, sing, play an instrument, love dolls , politics, learning, reading, biking, hiking, camping, swimming, flower arranging, watching TV? Do you love to entertain, set a beautiful table or just take a walk? Share it with us won't you?
Why do you enjoy it? Can you tell us how you became interested or what particularly interests
you about your hobby.
Would you share some photos or pictures of your hobbies or interests or lovely things you've seen along the way?  I love to read, take pictures of sunsets and sunrises, I enjoy planting flowers in my yard making it look nicer.  I like to read because it takes me somewhere else and I enjoy stories.  I enjoy taking pictures of sunsets and sunrises because they are so beautiful.  I want to capture them.  I can get lost in looking at the sky.

Holly loves photography
2.  Gardening is a hobby for some.
Do you garden or grow house plants?
What do you like about it? What are your favorite plants inside or out? Pictures? We'd love to see  photos of you house or garden plants or hear about ideas you have for growing things or creating beauty with plants around the house.  I LOVE indoor plants and I used to have several, but when I went back to work they do not get enough attention and they have died.  I like to plant flowers outside.  Mums in the Fall and whatever grabs my attention in the Spring...my Spring/Summer flowers last until Fall.
3. If you could design a dream garden or park , how would you do it? What would it contain.? Maybe include a picture from the net of one you think closely fits your dream garden.  I would like to plant more flowers in my back yard.  I tend to plant mostly in the front so the neighbors and people driving by can see them, but we spend a lot of time in our backyard gazebo and I would like to add some flowers/plants back there for us to look at.  Not anything crazy.  Something pretty to look at like this.

4.
Do you like being outdoors? If so, what attracts you to the great outdoors and if not, what keeps you inside?
Do you walk in the rain? Are there parks near you that you like to visit?  I love to be outside, but I do not like to be too hot or cold and I hate mosquitoes, so I do not get to spend a lot of time outside.

Saturday 9- Miss Independent

http://samanthasaturday9.blogspot.com/

Miss Independent (2003)

Unfamiliar with this week's song. Hear it here

1) The song begins with Kelly describing a woman who is "independent" and "self-sufficient." Are you feeling especially independent and self-sufficient this morning? Or is there a particular task on your to-do list that you wish you had help with?  I feel like when I got married I quit being as independent and self-sufficient.  My husband does a lot for me that I did for myself when I was single.  I can do things though.  He is happy to let me too.  I am pretty independent if I need to be.

2) Kelly especially enjoys that this song was a hit, because she had to argue with the record company to even include it on her album. Tell us about a time you're glad fought to get your way.  Many years ago when my Grandmother died, she had wanted me to get the first chance to buy her car from my mom and Uncle.  My husband said we could not afford it.  I said we couldn't afford not to.  We paid $5000 for a pretty new low mileage Toyota Camry and I still drive it.

3) The video depicts a very lively party that spills from the house to the pool area. What's the last party you attended? Was it held indoors, outdoors, or did the revelers enjoy themselves both inside and outside?  It was mostly indoors, but my nephew ended up outside riding his motorcycle.

4)The partiers are playing with "silly string." Have you ever indulged in a "silly string" battle?  no, but this is something one of my husband's sisters and her husband do at special occasions.

5) Kelly Clarkson has a new daytime talk show. Who hosted the last entertainment talk show (as opposed to news) that you watched?  Ellen...I love Kelly's new talk show by the way.  I am just not home to watch it.  I saw Ellen at my mom's today after school.

6) Kelly Clarkson told a foodie website that one of her favorite foods is sushi (especially California rolls). She said she's surprised how fond she is of it, since as a kid, sushi is a food she wouldn't even try. Tell us about something you had to be convinced to try, or do, that you were surprised to find you enjoyed.  When I was little I hated spinach, but now I like it in certain things.

7) In 2003, when "Miss Independent" was released, Microsoft and Sony were furiously competing for gamers' attention. Do you own Playstation or Xbox, neither or both? neither.

8) Also in 2003, the best-selling cookbook was The King Arthur Flour Baker's Companion. It features foolproof recipes for old favorites like waffles, pancakes, flat breads and crackers. When you look for a new recipe, are you searching for an easier/better way to make something familiar, or are you more likely looking to try something new?  usually something fast and better/easier too.

9) Random question: Which has gotten you in more trouble -- love or money?  money

Tuesday 4 Meme- Wayfaring

https://tuesdaysplace.blogspot.com/

1. Where have you traveled and what is the furthest you've been from home?  We have been to Florida a few times, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Alabama, Tennessee.  I think Florida was the furthest.  We went to Kissimmee to Disney World.

2. Is there a location other than where you are, that you think would be a nice place to live?  I loved Alabama.

3. Do you have a photo or story from a favorite place to visit?
Orange Beach, AL is by far my favorite trip.  We were able to watch the dolphins from our balcony every morning, we went on a dolphin tour.  We relaxed at the beach.  We went to Pensacola, FL to the air museum and we saw the Blue Angels.  We also went up into the Pensacola lighthouse.  There was a storm one day and I got great pictures of the storm over the ocean also.  It was an awesome trip.

4. What dream destination do you have tucked away in  your heart? Do you think you'll be able to visit them one day or are plans in the making?  I want to go back to Orange Beach again and I would like to go stay in the mountains in a cabin.  I think those trips are possibilities.  I would love to visit Italy and France, but I do not think that will ever happen.
