Happy New Year 2015!!!

Well, here we are the last day of 2014.  It was not an bad year, but a year of a lot of pain for me with my back and sciatic nerve.  That started in March and did not stop until July after I had spent the month going to the chiropractor.  My back has done really well ever since, so I made a visit to the chiropractor on Monday just to make sure I am in line to start off the year.  I also had my hair highlighted.  It is a little darker than it usually is and the blond highlights are gone for the winter now.
Josh had tutoring on Tuesday, so we went grocery shopping and picked up some things from Wal~Mart we needed.  I am so paranoid to go out right now because of the flu going around, but hopefully those people who are sick are at home resting.
I spent some time today looking for winter themes for my blog.  What you see if what I came up with.  I am really happy with it and it was about time I did something different in here.  I had it really messed up for a while though.  It was worth it.
Josh has gone to spend the night with my mom and dad.  Karl and I will probably just watch movies or football (Bowl) games tonight and maybe catch some of the Rockin' New Year's Eve in New York.  I hope you all have a safe and Happy New Year.  We will be taking down our Christmas tomorrow and cleaning the house.  Have a great day!!

Christmas Shopping

Happy Tuesday Friends!!  I was planning to take my mom Christmas shopping yesterday and I called her to make sure she was up only to find out that their heater was not working.  Thankfully Karl was off and we went down and Karl got it working.  I was afraid they might need a new one.  Then we put up their Christmas Tree.  They have not had it up for several years.  It looks nice.  At that point it was only 10:30AM, so we decided to go Christmas Shopping.  Karl and Josh went home, my mom took her shower and we took off.  She found what she needed at every store we went to.  It was good and it was busy, but not ridiculous.  We ate some late lunch/dinner and then we went grocery shopping.  Then home.  It was a busy day, but I am glad my mom was able to get all of her Christmas shopping done.
Today we are set to go to Sylvan from 4-6PM.  Josh can work on basic math concepts.  He was able to re-do all of his homework and re-take his tests last week, but they have not been graded that I can tell.  I hope the teacher grades them.
They say we may get some snow tomorrow.  I kind of hope it does snow some, just not enough to mess up anyone's plans for visiting with family.  We are not going anywhere until Christmas Day.  We will go to my mom and dad's house and have Christmas with them.
We had Christmas with Karl's family last weekend and they took pictures of Karl's mom and dad along with the Grandkids.  Here is a picture.  They did serious...or crazy old time is what they look like and they did a normal shot of everyone smiling also.  Josh is on the left in the brown on the end.  Such funny pictures.  Have a great week and Merry Christmas if I do not make it back on here.

Pastime Repeats ~ What Is The...

Here is my Tuesday 4 Meme
http://tuesday4meme.blogspot.com/

#29 Pastime Repeats ~ What Is The...

1. One Movie You'd Watch Over & Over Again?  Sweet Home Alabama

2. One Book You'd Read Over & Over Again?  Bible

3. One TV Series You'd Watch Over & Over Again?  FRIENDS

4. One Song You'd Listen To Over & Over Again?  I LOVE music, so there is a lot of music I can listen to over and over, but I really love the song How Great Thou Art.

This week is much like last week with the tutoring.  The math teacher has not re-graded anything though, so I really do not know if we are making any headway or not.  Josh seems to be doing ok in his other classes.  He is not feeling the best, so I will be glad when this week is over so he can just rest some.
Tomorrow we have our class party.  The kids will be getting lots of gifts.  It will be fun.  That will be their last day.  Then Malinda (my para) and I will work in the classroom on Friday and get the Christmas stuff put away and get everything ready or the New Year.  We have a half day and then our vacation begins.  We will have 2 weeks off.
We got our Christmas shopping done and presents wrapped over the weekend, so I am excited about that.  Have a great week!!!

Christmas Diet, What Diet?

Here is my Tuesday 4 Meme a day late.
http://tuesday4meme.blogspot.com/

#28 Christmas Diet, What Diet?

1.   Favorite Christmas Cake: When Josh was little we made a birthday cake for Jesus, but we haven't done that in a while and we do not make many cakes at Christmas at out house.
2.   Favorite Christmas Cookie: Sugar Cookies
3.   Favorite Christmas Pie: Seriously...any kind.  I love pie!!!
4.   Favorite Christmas Candy: Not a big fan of candy, so fudge I guess.

My conference went really well last Friday and it helped me identify some needs in kids I currently have.  I was able to put some ideas to work right away and it has helped them.  Glad I went.
I think we have most of our Christmas gifts, so I need to work on getting those under the tree now.  I did get some Christmas cards sent out to family.
We have tutoring 3 maybe 4 times this week for Josh in a last ditch attempt to help his math grade.  I am not very optimistic, but he is wanting to try, so I say let him go for it.  That is half the battle just wanting to do it.
I am excited to use one of my siggies from Judy, so I will go through the files and pick one.  Click on the tag to give her a visit.  Have a great week!!

Holiday Favorites

It is time for Tuesday 4 Meme!!

http://tuesday4meme.blogspot.com/

#27 Holiday Favorites

1.   Favorite Holiday?:  I kind of like Thanksgiving because you just spend time with family, eat and watch tv.  It is relaxing.  I love Christmas, but it is busy.

2.   Favorite Holiday Character?:  Santa Claus

3.   Favorite Holiday Dish?:
  Pie...any kind

4.   Favorite Holiday Weather?: Ok, do not shoot me, but I am a fan of summer, so I guess 4th of July hot summer nights watching fireworks would be my favorite.

This is a kind of busy week, just basically because of the running around I am having to do...not anything that is a big deal.  I do have a teacher conference on Friday I am looking forward to.  It is a Sensorimotor Integration conference.  Several of us teachers are going.  It will be fun.  Teaching special education, we see this a lot in our kids and we need to be able to address it.  I have swings, rockers, pressure vests, weighted backpacks and blankets....the list goes on and on and all of our teachers have a lot of items in their classrooms, this conference will just give us some more ideas.  Remember Merry-Go-Rounds?  Those were great for sensory input for kids, but they are "not safe" anymore, so the kids do not get the input they need and teachers see the results in the classroom with kids not being able to focus or just kids acting out trying to get that input they need.  Anyway, I am looking forward to it.  Have a great week!

Happy Thanksgiving

I just wanted to wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving.    We will be spending the day with my parents, eating turkey and all of the fixings, watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.  We will probably DVR the Dog Show and we will watch football.  It will be a fun day.  Have a great one!

The News

It is time for Tuesday 4 Meme!

http://tuesday4meme.blogspot.com/

 #26 The News

1.   Do you read an actual print newspaper? If so, how often?:   no. My parents do, but I never have read the newspaper.  I will check out the Black Friday ads though.

2.   What is your main source of news?:  tv or I see a lot on facebook

3.   Do you believe that it's possible for the media to be unbiased?:  no way and it gets really old.

4.   Who's your favorite TV News Reporter/s?  I just listen to local newsEvery now and then I will watch National News.  I did last night for the Ferguson reports and then switched to Fox News.

Today we had a half day at the preschool, so I chose to have us decorate for Christmas.  We are done now until next Monday.  I still have lesson plans through January from working over the summer, so decorating seemed like something fun we could do.  The picture on the right is our front door.  The picture below is our window to the right of the front door.  We have another window to the left and it also has a wreath on it.  The little trees on the ground light up and there candy canes between each tree.  We had fun decorating and the kids enjoy it.

Josh has Sylvan tutoring tonight.  It is helping his grade a lot.  He is also trying to work on his other grades in his other classes.  I am not sure what has happened to him, but his grades are just not as good as they have been in the past.
Tomorrow I will make a pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving.  We will be going to my mom and dad's house and my mom has most of it in control.  I will help her once I get there, but I will get this pie done ahead of time.  Today is actually her birthday.  I will call her, but we celebrate on Thanksgiving.  She was actually born on Thanksgiving.
I hope you are all doing well.  I will post one more picture of the little Christmas tree we put up in the classroom.

Dream Time ~ Have You Ever...

It is time for Tuesday 4 Meme!!!

Tuesday 4 Meme

#25 Dream Time ~ Have You Ever...

1.   Danced At A Ball?  no

2.   Flown A Kite?  yes

3.   Strolled Hand In Hand Along The Seashore
?  yes

4.   Sat On A Park Bench People Watching?  yes

Josh is at tutoring tonight and he has one of those fake babies that cries for his child development class, so I stayed home to "babysit" it.  Karl and I usually shop while he is at Sylvan, but I would probably get some strange looks if I was carrying around a fake baby.  hahahaha.  So I thought I would get my post in.
So we have almost made it to Thanksgiving break at the preschool.  We have class on Monday and then Tuesday we work a half day with no kids and we are off the rest of the week.  We are going to get it decorated for Christmas that half day, so when we come back, the kids will have a nice Christmas classroom to enjoy.  I am excited for Thanksgiving.  I love that holiday.  We will be spending the day with my parents.
I guess I better get off here before the baby starts crying...LOL!!!  Have a nice weekend.

Words Ending in AKE

It is time for Tuesday 4 Meme.

Tuesday 4 Meme

#24 Words Ending in AKE ~ I Say You Answer

1.   Earthquake...you answer?  I read there was one today here in the midwest, but not sure where.

2.   Peaceful Lake...you answer?  I wish I were there.

3.   Chocolate Cake...you answer?  Yes, please!!

4.   Snowflake...you answer?  We may see some soon.

Well last Tuesday I had to go to the doctor.  They tested me for strep, but I just had an upper respiratory viral infection.  I had a horrible cough and sore throat.  I cannot seem to kick it.  If you are reading this, if you would say a prayer for me, I would appreciate it.  I had to take a few fays off work last week, I was also running a fever, but went back on Thursday.  I just have the lingering cough and still a sore throat now.
Josh is doing well at Sylvan.  It will be an ongoing thing, but he really did not want to go at first and now he is ok with it.
It is cold here, in the 30's.  Normal temps are in the 60's.  They are calling for snow this weekend.
Well, I better go.  I hope you are all doing great.

A Delight for The 4 Senses

It is time for Tuesday 4 Meme!!

Tuesday 4 Meme

#23 A Delight for The 4 Senses

1.   I love the taste of…?   Pizza

2.   I love the sight of…?  My son Josh

3.   I love the feel of…?  a soft blanket

4.   I love the smell of…?  clean laundry

How is everyone doing?  I feel like I have fallen off the blogging earth again.  We have decided to put Josh in tutoring at Sylvan.  The new common core subjects are a little hard and he is just not keeping up with Math, so he is getting tutoring for Math and also homework help.  He goes on Tuesdays and Thursdays and is there from 5-7PM.  It is in Springfield, so Karl and I usually run errands while he is in there.  He is signed up for the rest of the year.  We had him at Sylvan for reading when he was little and really liked the results.  I think he likes it too.  Besides Sylvan, I have been keeping busy with work and have been very tired at night.
How was Halloween?  It was cold and quiet here.  We did not have as many trick-or-treaters.  I am not sure if it is because it was so cold or if everyone was doing something totally else since it was on a Friday.  Many of my former students from the preschool dropped by and it was good seeing them.  I decorated for Thanksgiving around 9PM Halloween night, so that was done.
I hope everyone is doing great.  Have a nice week.

I take my mom back to the eye doctor on Friday, this time so she can get her eyes checked for her new glasses.  We shall see how it goes.
We have been busy watching the baseball playoffs....between St. Louis and Kansas City, they are keeping us busy.

Rat Pack

Today I am doing Annie's Meme.

1. Like anyone from the Rat Pack?
I like Frank Sinatra and it is so funny....Josh loves his music and has some on his iPod.  I did not introduce him to Sinatra though.  Kind of cool.
 2.  Do you think music was better 'back then'?
I like current music and I am a fan of all kinds of music, so while I love the older music I like the new music also.  I get into moods with music, I can listen to old music for a while, but then I want to hear something newer.
 3. Does the life style of some musicians and performers turn you off to their music?
Oh I do not know.  I am unaware who is singing the songs much of the time.  I listen to the radio a lot and they do not say who is singing anymore because they assume you have a display of the artist on your radio, but I do not.  I either like music or I don't.
 4.  Have you been to any concerts?
I saw Loretta Lynn when I was young, also The Beach Boys several times in my teen years and Corey Hart.  I also saw Hank Williams Jr.  I love all kinds of music.  I have seen a lot of Christian concerts...The Cathedrals, Mark Lowry, The Martins and I was in my church choir and sang with some artists... Larnell Harris and Alvin Slaughter.

Oh by the way...my job is going fine...I just said I couldn't talk about it because I really can't...because of privacy laws and such to protect the kids.  Everything is going just fine.  We are super busy and I will say it is a hard year, but we are making it through.  Thanks for your concern though.
I hope you are all having a great week.  I really enjoyed the Blog Hop yesterday.  I hopped over to Annie's last night and found this meme and was like...wow, 3 days in a row from me.  I did not even do that this summer I do not think.

Autumn Blog Hop

Hello Autumn Blog Hop friends!! I am going to talk about how much I enjoy fall leaves. I have two trees in my yard I love to watch change colors. I believe this one is a sugar maple.
This tree is my favorite, probably because it is in the front yard and I can see it really good. This was taken a couple of years ago, probably early October. Then one week later I took this picture
and it is completely changed colors. It happens so fast. One friend suggested I take a picture of it everyday and watch the colors change. I keep forgetting. It is a gorgeous tree though. Last year I noticed one on the side of my house had really pretty color, so I will share it also.
It was such a beautiful shade of orange. I actually have people drive by my house to see these trees in the Fall and I love to ride around looking at leaves too. They are so pretty.
I also enjoy decorating my lawn and house with Autumn goodies and wonderful smelling Autumn candles. I always buy mums and pumpkins for outside. They just dress up the yard for the season. My mom made me an Autumn wreath this year that is really pretty that I will share with you. Here it is:
Since this is a blog hop I will make this short. I hope you have enjoyed my Autumn pictures.
The next blog on the Autumn Blog Hop is Darylynn Please click the image below to get to her blog.

Autumn Favorites

It is time for Tuesday 4 Meme.
.

#18 Autumn Favorites
1. Favorite Autumn Activity? I enjoy decorating my lawn and house for Autumn, I used to love going to football games.

2. Favorite Autumn Meal? I don't guess I have a favorite, maybe chili? It has to be cold for us to eat chili.

3. Favorite Autumn Drink? Apple Cider

4. Favorite Autumn Weather? Cool, sunny and 60's.

It is in the 80's this week, so it doesn't feel much like Autumn. We haven't had much rain, so I am not sure what our leaves will look like this year.
My mom's appointment went well last week and we do not go back for 3 weeks. Then she will be checked for glasses. I am sure she will be happy to have her new glasses.
Josh is STILL trying to make-up his homework from when he was gone. I guess one of the teachers is sick now.
There is a lot going on, but it has to do with work and I cannot talk about it, so for now I will go. Check back with me tomorrow and read my Autumn Blog Hop entry.
