Wednesday Medley- It's All About Halloween!

Wenesday Medley

It is all about Halloween!

1. You’re in a horror movie. Are you the final person left, the first to die, the comic relief, the skeptic, the smart one, or the killer?   Probably the first to die.

2. While watching scary movies, are you the person who yells at the characters, the person with their eyes covered the whole time or the person who falls asleep?  When I watched scary movies I paid attention and would scream.  I do not watch them anymore, they give me nightmares.

3. If you were dared to spend the night in a “haunted house”, would you do it?  nope

4. Favorite horror monster or villain?  Hannibal  Lector, I actually wanted to be a profiler because of him.  I would never do that now.  I do not know what I was thinking.

5. Favorite horror or Halloween-themed song?  Monster Mash

6. Tell us something random about your week.  My husband and I started binge watching an older show on Amazon Prime, our son watched it already.  I am liking it...Mr. Selfridge.  If you haven't seen it, it is about the first department store.  It is in London and is still open today!  Selfridge's!  I had never even heard of it.  Has anyone been to this store?

Happy Halloween!!!

Saturday 9- Alfred Hitchcock Presents

Saturday 9

Saturday 9: "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" Theme

This week's song was chosen because this is the last Saturday 9 before Halloween. Are you unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.

1) The Master of Suspense, Alfred Hitchcock, was born in England. Name another pop culture contribution England has made.  The Beatles

2) This week's song is recognized as the theme to Hitchcock's long-running TV show, but "Funeral March for a Marionnette" is a classic piece written for piano in the late 1870s by Charles Gounod. Do you often listen to classical music?  I love classical music, but it is not on the radio anymore here and I do not have much to listen to that I own.

3) Janet Leigh's shower scene in  Hitchcock's Psycho is considered one of the scariest sequences ever filmed. What's the most frightening movie you've ever seen?  I do not watch scary movies anymore, at some point they started giving me nightmares, but when I did "It" by Stephen King scared me to death!  I did not see the new one by the way.

4) Hitchcock admitted that he "never trusted birds," and he took that fear and turned it into the movie, The Birds. Is there a member of the animal kingdom that just gives you "the creeps?"  snakes and mice

5) Halloween will soon be upon us. Will you carve a jack o'lantern this year?  no
6) What candy will trick or treaters get at your house? little candy bars
7)  When you went trick or treating, did you prefer fantasy costumes (like a storybook character) or scary ones (like a monster)? fantasy
8)  Which candy was your favorite? Which one were you disappointed to find in your trick or treat bag?  candy bars were my favorite...I do not know that I was ever disappointed in anything.

9) Which do you find scarier -- cemeteries or haunted houses?  haunted houses...I like cemeteries, I find them peaceful.

Wednesday Medley- On This Day theme

https://tdorsaneo.blogspot.com/2018/10/the-wednesday-medley-questions-for.html?showComment=1540340134397#c2385967378664926076
On this day theme...

1.  On this day in 1908, Billy Murray hits the charts with his “Take Me Out to The Ball Game”.  Did you watch the MLB playoffs, and are you watching the World Series?  I did watch some of the playoffs, but I am not sure I will actually watch any of the World Series...I mean I probably will because I love baseball, but I am not a fan of either team I am a St. Louis Cardinals fan and we did not make the playoffs, but I was cheering for the Milwaukee Brewers.

2.  On this day in 1962, “The Manchurian Candidate”, directed by John Frankenheimer, starring Frank Sinatra and Laurence Harvey, was released.  What is your favorite Frank Sinatra song? New York, New York!  I mean, I love I Did it My Way too, but there is just something about New York, New York!

3.  On this day in 1968, Mick Jagger and Marianne Faithful were busted for pot and released on £50 bail.  Has your state approved the sale of medical marijuana?  In a nutshell, what are your thoughts on the subject?  not yet, but we are voting on it here in Missouri in November.  I think I will vote yes for it because even though I do not need to use it, there are people that might really benefit from it and not from a medication.

4.  On this day in 1979, the Guinness Book of Records presented Paul McCartney with a rhodium disc as the all-time best-selling singer-songwriter. What is your favorite song by Paul McCartney?  Let It Be.

5.  On this day in 2017, Albert Einstein’s “Theory of Happiness” written on a note as a tip for a bellboy in 1922, sold for $1.6 million.  His Theory of Happiness is: “A calm and modest life brings more happiness than the pursuit of success combined with constant restlessness.”   Was Einstein right?  I think he is right, but that is easier said than done.  The calm part anyway.

6.  Tell us something random about your week so far…  I got some new Halloween leggings from Walmart and they are super comfortable!  I do not wear leggings normally, but all of the girls on our team at school got them and when I put them on I loved them.  I will wear them on Halloween and to bed for sure!  They are so soft!

Josh update

It has been a while since I have posted an update on Josh.  Last I posted he had stopped taking his medicine for his depression and anxiety.  He has since seen his counselor several times and he saw his psychiatrist for his medication monitor.  I went with him to talk to the psychiatrist because I wanted to let him know about the medicine.  How it had made Josh feel and that he wasn't taking it anymore.  Anyway, Josh is now taking 2 new prescriptions.  He has been taking them for about a week.  I asked him on Friday if he was doing any better and he said he was.  He said he wasn't having nightmares anymore and he felt like they were helping his depression and anxiety a little.  He is supposed to increase one of his medications Saturday, so maybe that will help him feel better.  I do think he is going in the right direction.  I think I have said that before though, so I am praying every night that these medicines will help him.
I have just been working, nothing new to report with me.  We had parent/teacher conferences last week and those are hard weeks.  We work long hours.  We were off on Friday though.  My mom, Josh and I went to Springfield and Josh wanted to go look at books at Barnes and Noble and we ate at Chili's.  It was a rainy day, but it was nice to get out.
We are wanting to go see The Nutcracker Ballet at Christmas and tickets are on sale, so we need to get those too.
I will go and will try to get by and visit soon.  Have a nice week!

Saturday 9- Sweet City Woman

Saturday 9: Sweet City Woman (1971)

Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.

1) The lyrics tell us the singer is on his way to catch a train and he really wants to be on time. When is the last time you were late for something?  I usually run pretty early, so I cannot remember.

2) He sings he's on his way to meet a woman known for her macaroons. What's your favorite cookie?  Snicker doodles and Chocolate Chip.

3) His girlfriend's face is so pretty she lights up the city night. How many lights are in the room you're in? How many are switched on? two lights, one is on.

4) This is the rare top 40 tune that prominently features a banjo. Sam has always been crazy about the sound of a banjo. What sound makes you smile? (It doesn't have to be a musical instrument. Think bacon sizzling, church bells, etc.)  Kids laughing

5) 47 years after their record was a hit, The Stampeders still tour every summer, playing festivals across the US and their native Canada. Do you enjoy live music under the stars? Or would you prefer to be seated in a theater?  I enjoy both.

6) In 1971, when this song was popular on the radio, detective shows were popular on TV. Mannix, Ironside and Cannon were all in the Top 20. Who is your favorite TV detective?  I enjoy detectives from the movies, but not sure about tv...I will say Monk.

7) Also in 1971, the Post Office Department was disbanded as a Cabinet department and became The United States Postal Service. When did you last go to the post office? Were you mailing something? Buying stamps? Picking up a package? 8) Race car legend Jeff Gordon was born in 1971. Do you watch NASCAR?  I used to go to Nascar races, then I got bored with them.  No, I do not watch anymore.  Fun Fact...my son shares a birthday with Jeff Gordon...August 4th...different years.

9) Random question -- Do you have a vaccination scar? If so, where is it?  I have one on my upper left arm.

Saturday 9- Unbreak My Heart

Saturday 9

Saturday 9: Unbreak My Heart (1996)

Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.

1) Songs like this are enduringly popular in part because each of us has had our heart broken. Give us the name of a heartbreaker from your own life.  Forrest, he was a boyfriend in college.

2) Toni Braxton sings that "nights are so unkind." What did you do last night?  I went to visit my mom after work, we went out to eat and visited.

3) While this song has Toni singing the blues, in real life her love life is happier. Now aged 50, she's engaged and has been sporting a diamond on her left hand. Do you believe that a bride is ever too old to have a big wedding?  No, I think she should have whatever she wants for her wedding.

4) Growing up, Toni Braxton's parents severely restricted how much TV their children could watch each day. Ironically, today Toni and her sisters participate in a reality TV show on the WE-TV network, so TV cameras are a big part of their daily adult lives. What TV show do you try not to miss?  I am enjoying the new show New Amsterdam and I also like the re-boot of Magnum P.I., I watched the original too.  I never miss a new Hallmark movie either.

5) She is prone to dry skin and applies Kiehl's Hand Salve to her hands and arms throughout the day. Tell us about a product you're brand loyal to.  I really enjoy trying new things.  I seem to always have Paul Mitchell Freeze & Shine Spray though to keep my hair in place.

6) Toni admits to being "a bit of a germaphobe," and always maintains a supply of hand sanitizer and wipes. What is always on your shopping list?  Probably things to drink and snacks.

7) While she is not shy about her body, and has worn revealing outfits on the red carpet, Toni Braxton refused a 2011 offer from Hugh Hefner and Playboy to pose nude. What's the last thing you said "no" to?  I had to say no to a Girls Trip to Arkansas next Friday.  I have other plans.  I do wish I could go though...maybe another time.

8) In 1996, the year this song was popular, Mattel introduced a Star Trek Barbie and Ken set. Have you ever fantasized about space travel?  maybe when I was little.  I have zero desire now. Hahahaha

9) Random question -- Would you (or did you) invite an ex to your wedding?  no

20.
Is there any place you go where time seems to stand still? What is it about that place that makes it that way?  Maybe the lake or ocean.  I can get lost listening to the water because it is so relaxing.

Saturday 9- Treat You Better

Saturday 9- Treat You Better

Saturday 9: Treat You Better (2016)

Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.

This song was chosen because October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Please share this information about The National Domestic Violence Hotline. Let's spread the word that there's help out there.

1) In this song, a young man advises his neighbor to stop wasting her time with a guy who makes her cry. What is something you regret wasting time on? (It doesn't have to be a romance.)  worrying about things I cannot control

2) Much of this video takes place in a very sparely-decorated apartment. Because Shawn Mendes and the girl he’s singing to both appear young, it’s easy to assume they are both in their first apartments. Tell us about the first place you ever rented.  The first place I ever lived in after my parents house was my college dorm.  It was small and I had some posters to decorate with.  By the time I actually rented a house, my roommates and I had some nicer decor.

3) It's clear he can hear his neighbors' conversations and arguments through the walls. Are your neighbors quiet? Do you consider yourself a quiet neighbor?  I am a quiet neighbor, but I do not need to be, there aren't any neighbors close enough to hear any noise from my house.

4) This song received a lot of attention and airplay because it was used in a Southwest Airline commercial. When you last visited an airport, were you traveling yourself or meeting someone?  I was dropping someone off.

5) This week's artist, Shawn Mendes, was a serious skateboarder during his high school years. Sam has never even set foot on a skateboard. How about you? yes, I have been on a skateboard...I do not care anything about it though.

6) Shawn is happy eating cold cereal with milk for every meal -- breakfast, lunch and dinner. He prefers cereal with almonds in it. What about you? Do you have a favorite cereal?  I do not really have a favorite and I do not eat it all of the time.  I go through phases.

7) He says he started eating cereal beyond breakfast because it's convenient, and it helps him avoid "junk food" when he's in a hurry. Do you often order your food "to go?"  More than I would like to.

8) In 2016, when this song was popular, a German shorthaired pointer named CJ won Best in Show at the Westminster Dog Show. Is there a dog who holds a special place in your heart?  I have 3 dogs that hold a special place in my heart.  Mandy, Molly and Meisha.  The dog that loves me most though is Mandy, so she is very special to me.  Here is Mandy.

9) And this week, we're trying a random fill in the blank: I wish someone would create an app that is like GasBuddy, but for propane so you could just look at an app for the best price.  If there is one, let me know!
