Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.
1) The Cowsills were a family band who had three hit singles. Can you name another group of popular singing siblings? The Jonas Brothers.
2) This was their first hit, and it reached #2 on the Billboard charts. It was kept out of the #1 slot by the Monkees and "Daydream Believer." What's your favorite Monkees song? I'm a Believer.
3) After seeing the Cowsill brothers perform with their mother and sister, TV producers were inspired to create the sitcom, The Partridge Family. Did you ever watch it? Oh yes, at the time I just loved it.
4) In the song, the narrator takes a flower from a girl in the park. Are there flowers in your home right now? no, there were flowers in my house for months when the quarantine started. One student gave me flowers right before Spring Break and another a few weeks later. They have died now, but they were beautiful.
5) He isn't sure if the girl was real, or if he dreamed her. Tell us about a recent dream you had. I always forget my dreams once the day starts. They are so stupid anyway.
6) At the height of the Cowsills' popularity, they were hired by the American Dairy Association to promote drinking milk. If we were to peek into your refrigerator right now, would we find any milk? Yes
7) After the band stopped performing together, John Cowsill went on to become a back up musician for the Beach Boys. His job has kept him on the road much of the time. When you travel, do you enjoy staying in hotels, or would you rather stay with friends/family? Well, when I traveled to visit my Grandparents, I preferred to stay with them, but I would not want to stay with anyone else. So, since my Grandparents have passed now, I will say hotels.
8) In 1967, the year this song was popular, Elvis married Priscilla in Las Vegas. Have you attended any weddings yet this year? Are there any weddings in your future? The last wedding I attended was my nephew last summer, but I have another one in the fall...it is a friend of my family.
9) Random question: Are the bottoms of your feet ticklish? yes.
I have a wedding planned for the fall, too. I hope covid 19 doesn't interfere. My niece has her heart set on being an October bride.
ReplyDeleteAwwww, I LOVE that your students gave you flowers! "I'm a Believer" is a good one. Have a great Saturday, Lori!
ReplyDeleteMy daughter is supposed to be the maid of honor at a fall wedding. I'm hoping the wedding doesn't get postponed.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love yur little Flag Day Avatar.. So creative! I undertand your feelings aobut worrying about being a good guest.. Im like that too, a really nice hotel, or bed and breakfast suits me just fine!
ReplyDeleteMy sister-in-law's niece on her side of the family was supposed to go to a wedding on July 3rd in South Carolina and she didn't want to go because of the virus. She was so torn between going and risking getting COVID-19 or missing the wedding of her niece.
ReplyDeleteLuckily, they cancelled the wedding until next year.
I haven't been to a wedding in a long time. My nephew eloped so no wedding there, although we threw him a nice reception a few months later. As far as I know, none of the kids are getting married.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe I didn't think of the Jonas Bros. So nice the kiddos gave you flowers. It always made me smile when the little ones would get on the bus with a bunch of flowers they'd just picked for their teacher. Have a blessed Saturday, Lori!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe I didn't think of the Jonas Brothers. I enjoyed your answers, have a beautiful day friend.
ReplyDeleteThe weddings I was invited to were turned into very small family events due to the pandemic.
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way about being a good guest! I'd rather stay in a hotel too.
ReplyDeleteWhen you said "they died now". I at first thought you meant the students. Whoa.
ReplyDeleteOh no! The students are fine. :)
DeleteHow nice to get flowers from your students! This was another fun Sat9! I always enjoy reading your answers. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeletefun list! LeeAnna at not afraid of color
ReplyDeleteHotels and so nice and you don't have to worry about anything. I forgot about the Jonas brothers.
ReplyDeleteI like hotels too, but there for a while, there was talk of bedbugs and that made me all itchy to think about! Haha! Hope to never see one of those! We like the same Monkee's song.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking of the Jo Bros for #1 as well, with a Then & Now sort of thing, as well as Hanson, but I didn't think most people would know who they were!
ReplyDeleteHotels are just the best. Except for Mom's house--I just love it there. Thanks for visiting today!
ReplyDeleteI love you siggie!!! I sure miss those country webset days. Didn't we have fun decorating and visiting. I do like you patriotic background. I hope to change mine tomorrow for flag day.
