Sunday Stealing- Ask Anything

https://sundaystealing.blogspot.com/

1. Do you own your things or do your things own you?  I own my things.

2. Would you rather lose all of your old memories or never be able to make new ones?  Neither.  Both are so important.  I would never want to lose my memories of my family that have passed and I would hate not being able to make memories with my son and husband.

3. How do you deal with someone in a position of power who wants you to fail?  I have been there.  I pray and I am kind.  In my situation, I left and got a better position with nicer people.  Sometimes God closes doors for you.

4. What do you have that you cannot live without?  God

5. When you close your eyes what do you see? darkness

6. What sustains you on a daily basis?  God and prayer

7. What are your top five personal values? kindness, integrity, truth, faithfulness, patience

8. Why must you love someone enough to let them go?  Because sometimes the feelings are not returned.  When you love, you want them to be happy, so you let them go.  I have been there.

9. Do you ever celebrate the green lights?  Sometimes if I am in a hurry, but sometimes I like to be stopped.  That is if we are talking about stop lights.  If we are talking about green lights to projects...again.... sometimes.

10. What personal prisons have you built out of fears?  I am scared of snakes, so I am super careful when outdoors.  There are a lot of snakes where I live and some are poisonous.

11. What one thing have you not done that you really want to do?  travel more

12. Why are you, you?  God made me this way and I have made choices in my life that have guided me to where I am.

13. If you haven’t achieved it yet what do you have to lose?  not sure about this one.

14. What three words would you use to describe the last three months of your life? Busy, baseball and vacation

15. Is it ever right to do the wrong thing?  Is it ever wrong to do the right thing?  no and no

16. How would you describe ‘freedom’ in your own words? being able to make my own choices and say what I want based upon the laws of our country.

17. What is the most important thing you could do right now in your personal life?  lose weight (exercise) and eat better.

18. If you could ask one person, alive or dead, only one question, who would you ask and what would you ask? I am not sure.

19. If happiness was the national currency, what kind of work would make you rich?  I guess doing what I am doing.  I love working with kids.  I also love being with my son...both make me very happy.

Happy Mother's Day!!!

Saturday 9- The Perfect Fan

http://samanthasaturday9.blogspot.com/

THE PERFECT FAN (1999)
Unfamiliar with this week's song? Hear it here.

1) In this song, a son thanks his mother for helping him grow up strong and confident. Who is the last person you thanked? What did they do for you?  We were at my nephew's graduation party last night and my sis-in-law went and got me a Coke to drink.  I said Thank-you!  I was very thirsty.

2) Who was the last person to thank you for something?  I told my Nephew Keifer Congratulations last night on his graduation from high school.  He said Thank-you.

3) This is from the Backstreet Boys' album Millennium, recorded and released in 1999. Do you remember where you were and what you were doing when 1999 turned into 2000?  I think I was here at home.  I remember people thinking the computers were going to shut down when the year flipped to 2000 and everything was going to be messed up....electrical grids etc...anything that computers help run, but everything was fine.

4) This song was written by Backstreet Boy Brian Littrell. Brian voiced himself on an episode of PBS' Arthur. Arthur has been described as an "animated anthropomorphic aardvark" -- which can be difficult to say. Do you easily get tongue tied?  a little bit, but not as bad as some.

5) The French word for "mother" is "mère." What other French words do you know?  I have taken 3 years of French
and then another year at the college level, so I know a lot of words in French.

6) Mother's Day is a big holiday for card shops. So are birthdays, weddings, and St. Patrick's Day. Hallmark sells greetings for everything from "Congratulations on Your New Job" to "Happy Retirement." Who received the most recent card you bought?  It was a Sympathy card for my Aunt.

7) Have you put away your winter clothes yet?  I have a big closet, so I do not really need to put them away.  My top rack is winter and bottom is summer.

8) Mother Winters used to scold Sam for leaving her dirty dishes in the sink. Sam admits it: as a grown up, she's still a bit of a slob. Do lean toward "neat" or "messy?"  messy, but I used to be such a neat person.  My house was spotless.

9) To celebrate Mother's Day, Sam is giving away her mother's favorite: Hershey Bars. Would you prefer classic milk chocolate, dark chocolate or milk chocolate with almonds?
milk chocolate with almonds

Happy Mother's Day!!!

Wednesday Medley- MOTHER’S DAY

http://tdorsaneo.blogspot.com/

Mother's Day - Second Sunday in May

MOTHER’S DAY

1. Where did your mom grow up?   Muskogee, OK

2. Tell us about her siblings, if she has/had any. Did you have a favorite aunt or uncle?  My mom has one older brother Dwain.  The two of them argue a lot, but he was my favorite uncle when I was little.  He lives in Oklahoma and I live in Missouri, so we do not see each other much.

3. What is ONE of your favorite memories you can share with us of your mom?  Unfortunately my mom and I butted heads a lot when I was young, so my best memories with her are ones we are making now.  We went to a baseball game together a couple of years ago and we went to see Nutcracker at Christmas.

4. Please share a picture or two of your mom with us.  This is my college graduation picture with my mom and dad.

5. Let's not leave out the grandmothers. Share what you will.  I do not have any pictures of my Granie saved to my computer.  I was super close to my Granie.  I spent the summers with her and my Papa and had so much fun.

6. Do you have any special plans for Mother's Day?  No, I have so much going on right now with graduations and such.  I did get my mom a flower for Mother's Day.  I will have to give it to her another time.  This time of year for a teacher is crazy.  My calendar looks much like it does in December. :(  I am ready for school to be over.

Tuesday 4 Meme- The 'WORD' Game

https://mytuesday4meme.blogspot.com/
The 'WORD' Game

1.   Favorite Stupid Saying:

2.   Favorite Over Used Word:  I overuse the word "awesome"!  I say it all of the time.

3.   Favorite Word That Makes You Laugh:  I live in an area that profits by people acting like hillbillies.  So every now and then you will hear someone say a "hillbilly" word.  I kind of enjoy the word skedaddle which in case you do not know means to leave in a hurry.

4.   Now Tell Me, Are You Having Fun Yet?  These make me have to think, but yes!  I always enjoy Tuesday 4 Meme!

Saturday 9- Don't Envy Me

http://samanthasaturday9.blogspot.com/

Saturday 9: Don't Envy Me (1963)

Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.

1) What is it about you that you believe your friends and acquaintances envy?  I don't really think anyone envies me.

2) Do you have a friend or acquaintance that you envy?  Not really.

3) This song was not a hit, even though it was written and produced by the supersuccessful team of Burt Bacharach and Hal David. Tell us about a project you had great confidence in at the beginning, but didn't turn out as well as you'd hoped.  This one is hard.  I guess maybe a lesson for class....it happens...you put together what you think is a great lesson plan and it just does not work out.  It also happens that you teach something that you do not think will be any big deal and it turns into a GREAT lesson.

4) George Hamilton is better known as an actor. He is proud of his performance in the 1960 movie Light in the Piazza. He played an Italian who romances an American girl on holiday in Florence. Did you ever find love while vacationing?  no, I never went on vacation when I was single.

5) George had a small part in Godfather III. How many of the Godfather movies have you seen? Have you read the book?  I think I saw all of the Godfather movies.  I remember watching a marathon of them.  I have never read the book.

6) He's gotten a lot of publicity over the years for his personal life, including his 1966 romance with First Daughter Lynda Bird Johnson. At the time, she was living in the White House. Tell us about a memorable experience you had "meeting the parents."  My husband's family is a lot different than me.  I am pretty reserved and proper.  I met them all at a Christmas gathering.  They were all very nice, but by the end of the evening they were all talking about sex.  It made me uncomfortable.  I still am not real comfortable around them.

7) George is also known for his year-round tan. Have you ever used a tanning bed? Or self tanner?  I have used both.  Not at the same time of course, but at different times in my life.  I do not use either anymore.

8) In 1963, when this record was released, President Kennedy made a historic trip to Ireland. Have you ever visited the land of your ancestors?  I am adopted, so I do not know what that land would be...but I haven't visited it unless I am native american....hahahaha

9) Random question -- The last of a batch of delicious chocolate chip cookies just fell on your kitchen floor. Would you eat it?  no

Wednesday Medley- May Day

http://tdorsaneo.blogspot.com/
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

May Day

MAY DAY

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1.  Ahhh... May Day!!  Happy May!  Did you celebrate this when you were a child by dancing around a Maypole or leaving flowers on someone's porch? Will you be celebrating a special occasion in May?  I do not recall celebrating May Day.  I read about it as an adult and wanted to take baskets to my neighbors, but I was worried they would think I was crazy for doing that.  We celebrate our wedding Anniversary on May 10...my nephew is also graduating high school that day this year.  Of course there is Mother's Day.  I am thinking of getting my mom some flowers to plant in her yard.  I always love gifts like that.
(There are so many other things being celebrated today that I
think we need to give them some attention, too!)

2.  National Mother Goose Day was founded in 1987.  Can you name a nursery rhyme that would fit your life as it was in 1987?  If you are a youngster and not yet born in 1987, you may pass, of course, but do you have a favorite nursery rhyme?  HERE is a list of nursery rhymes.  In 1987 I was in high school.  I am not sure what nursery rhyme would fit that.  I love nursery rhymes.  My dad sang me hush a bye baby when I was little.  I like to do ring around the rosie with the kids.  Such dark messages we teach the kids when doing nursery rhymes.

3.  National Chocolate Parfait Day is also honored on this day. Parfait means perfect in French. Tell us about a perfect day, in your mind, and would/could it end with a chocolate parfait?  A perfect day for me would be a day I am off work and it is sunny, but still a little bit cool...upper 60's or low 70's.  I would spend the day having fun with Josh and my mom and at the end of our day we would have chocolate parfait.

4.  National School Principal's Day was founded to celebrate these school administrators who support and guide quality teachers and staff to provide productive learning environments for our children.  Did you have a good Principal when you were in school? Do you remember his/her name?  I had a great Principal, his name is John Brown.  He and his family were my neighbors when I was little.  I am friends with all of them on facebook. :)  The Principal I work for is amazing too...her name is Mrs. Murray and I love her.  She is so great with the kids.

5. And perhaps the most important one is Silver Star Service Banner Day which honors the sacrifices of the combat wounded, ill, and dying service members from all branches of the military.  Do you have family members who have served this country in uniform? Tell us about them, if you will.  My Papa was a WWII Veteran, he passed away when Josh was 5 years old so about 15 years ago.  He was stationed in Germany and that is all he would ever say.  My Uncle Gary was killed in Vietnam.  I never met him.  He was my dad's brother.

6.  It's Hump Day! How is your week going so far?  We are having some rocky weather as I type this.  I stayed after school today to do some work and the county went tornado warned....so I had to stay for about an hour there in the tornado shelter.  I was glad to get home.  The crazy weather is still going on and they say it will all night (Tuesday). UGH!  The teachers and kids will be so tired tomorrow!
