Tuesday 4 Meme- Reading is Fundamental

https://tuesdaysplace.blogspot.com/

1.  Do you have some favorite books to share?(if you don't read, how about favorite TV programs or movies?)  The Woman in the Window-A.J. Finn, Big Little Lies- Liane Moriarty, Don't You Cry- Mary Kubica, The Secret to Hummingbird Cake-Celeste Fletcher McHale, The All Girl Filling Station's Last Reunion- Fannie Flagg.  I highly recommend all of these books, but they may not be your genre.

2.  When looking for  a book(or program) what things do you look for?  I like to check reviews on books.  If a book has really good reviews and if the synopsis sounds intersting to me and catches my attention, I will put it on my "to read" list.  I am rarely disappointed.

3.  Does the cover of a book make a difference or help you choose?(or do trailers help you decide on a TV or movie program?)  not really.  I read a lot about what the book is about and how other people have liked it before I see the cover or even think about checking it out.

4.  What is your favorite genre of book, TV or movie? That is, is it science fiction, romance, mystery, true story, biography?   This is a little weird...ok, so I only found this out about myself over the summer, but my favorite genre to read is suspense or psychological thrillers.  However, I cannot watch the same genre in a movie.  It will give me nightmares.  I think it is the music.  The books do not bother me though and I love them.  You all know I love to watch Hallmark movies...same thing....I am not interested in reading a romance novel.  Isn't that weird?  I look at it as I am getting a little bit of every genre through books and movies combined.  I do enjoy lots of genres when reading, just not romance.  If you want to read a good romance though...Evvie Drake Starts Over is good!

  1. Fun questions today and I enjoyed your answers. I am the same way, Lori. I enjoy a good thriller/CSI type of book, but I can't watch the movies my husband watches. TV shows are okay, but the movies get too realistic, I think. Have a great day!

  3. I can't watch anything too suspenseful on TV without getting really nervous, but I can read it in a book and do a little better with it. Never really thought about this before until I read your post. Hmmm

  6. The Woman in the Window was a movie as well with Edward G Robinson. I wonder if the story is the same. I don't like too much suspense in movies either and they make my daughter very upset.

  7. I don't like Sci-fi scary movies. I remember reading a Frank Perreti book on the the battle in the angelic/demonic forces and I was so scared!

  8. I have a Fannie Flagg book in my TBR pile, but I simply haven't gotten to it yet. That's the great thing about books -- they don't expire!
