Dancing in the Moonlight
Saturday 9: Dancing in the Moonlight (1972)
Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.
1) The lyrics tell us the moon is big and bright. Do you often take the time to watch the sun set or look at the moon? I like to go out and watch the sunset and sometimes I get to watch it rise as I am driving to school in the morning. I do love to watch that and full moons. Such beauty all around us.
2) The lead singer of King Harvest, Dave "Doc" Robinson, tells us that everyone feels "warm and right." How would you describe your mood as you answer these 9 questions? I am a little sad. Molly had another seizure on Monday night. She had one when she was poisoned by the black walnut. Anyway, there was nothing in our yard, so we took her to the vet and they "think" she has bladder cancer based on some ultrasounds. Molly is 12. She turned 12 this month. So we decided to do the anti- inflammatory, but not chemo. They said she has about 3-6 months and with chemo it would have just been a year. This does not explain the seizure. The vet was not sure what that was about. Her bloodwork was perfect and her urine was too. It just makes me sad and this is the dog that Josh is closest to. I hate to think what this will do to his depression. If you think of him at night, please say a prayer for him and Molly too. She is such a sweet dog. Molly is the little corgi/blue heeler. Meisha is the black lab. Mandy was in this picture too, she is by the step, but you can barely see her. She passed two years ago now. :( Just a sad time. Molly is Mandy's half sister. Mandy was full corgi.
3) He sings that his friends don't bark or bite. What about you? Is your bark worse than your bite? definitely
4) He believes you be unhappy when you dance. Do you agree? I enjoy dancing. I would say it makes me happy.
5) King Harvest was not the only name the band used. They once performed as E. Rodney Jones and the Prairie Dogs. If you ever played in a band, tell us what it was called. If you haven't, make up a band name. I have never been in a band, I can't think of a name either.
6) Even though this was a major hit, King Harvest's record label, Perception, went bankrupt in 1974. This decade has been hard on many businesses -- especially restaurants -- and many closed their doors due to covid. Tell us about a shop or restaurant that closed recently, and that you miss. Nothing that we frequent has closed, but there is a restaurant in a town near us that was open a long time and was very popular and it closed. So sad.
7) This very upbeat song came from pain. While vacationing in St. Croix, songwriter Sherman Kelly was the victim of vicious gang attack and was left for dead. He wrote this song during his long recuperation and it helped him envision joy. Is there a song that reliably lifts your mood? (Yes, you can say this song. Mr. Kelly is right, it IS joyful!) I like it when a song comes on that makes me think of a certain time in my life. It could be a million different songs. Usually 80's music.
8) In 1972, when this song topped the charts, Wrangler jeans were America's best-selling blue jeans. Do you often wear denim? almost every day.
9) Random question: Which of these is completely, 100% UNTRUE of you: Greedy, lazy, or jealous? I will say lazy. I am not lazy at work, but when I am at home trying to rest, I can be very lazy.

Awwwwwwwww Keeping in prayer over Molly. I am so sorry....
ReplyDeleteOur red heeler developed a seizure disorder in November, out of nowhere. Apparently that's what happens with dogs, says our vet. Phenobarbitol controls them--she hasn't had one since we started the medication. I'm so sorry to hear about Molly, and will keep her and Josh in my prayers. Sending love and light to you and your family.
ReplyDelete#7 One time late at night when I was coming back from a function in Hartford. I was driving down the main street through the town where I lived all my life when on the radio came "The House of the Rising Sun!" Suddenly I was a teenager again driving down the "Ave"
ReplyDeleteSo sorry about Molly. I will definitely be thinking of her and Josh--sending much love.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry about Molly. I will keep her and your family in prayer. I like your siggy, but I could not find it. I used the link too.
ReplyDeleteI said I was lazy, too. Sorry about your sweet pup. Always hard, gosh darn it. I enjoyed my visit here and your answers, Lori!
ReplyDeleteI am sorry about your dog. Maybe go ahead and get another so Josh won't feel so alone when she passes?
ReplyDeleteOh gosh, I am so sorry about Molly. I know how hard it was for my daughter when we lost our Elvis so I will be praying for Josh tonight and every night. I like hearing a song that immediately takes to a specific time and place, too. Have a better tomorrow, Lori. ((hugs))
