#8. Both of my children have a mental illness. I feel the same about my kids, the kindest, sweet souls. The stuff in the media every time there is a tragedy, saying the perpetrator was mentally ill is giving people a false impression not only of that person’s behavior, but doing so without proof, all speculation. The number of mentally ill people who are violent is small. In all of my psych ward visits I encountered several hundred patients. Only 1 came in violent (screaming, kicking, hitting). She was about 5 years old.
ReplyDeleteI don’t want to see something happen to someone just because they have a mental illness, because the media is bombarding the public with bad information and scaring people.
You've never been on a plane?! Wow, time that was remedied. Plane travel is awesome (OKay, I'm on a plane at least once a month) There is still something exciting about it even if you travel regularly.
ReplyDeleteMy eighteen month old niece and I put on our ventriloquist act at parties.
ReplyDelete勝美: Have you ever flown on a plane?
Claire: No. But I've flown IN A PLANE!
I credit my success in show biz to tailoring my material to the audience.
Wow - you've never been on a plane? That's surprising. I've been on far too many to count - I am not a huge fan of flying though. Long haul flights are utterly tedious - which is a shame because it is the only realistic way to see the world (sadly).
ReplyDeleteHey fellow reader! Great answers.
ReplyDelete#11 we definitely agree on, and #14 I went on a plane to Jamaica many years ago. I don't care to fly on a plane anymore.
ReplyDeleteI love flying on planes but the rigmarole to get on the plane sucks all the fun out of it.
ReplyDeleteWe are both texters! I enjoyed your answers today, Lori! Have a good week ahead!
ReplyDeleteI join the club that is surprised to find there is someone who has never been on a plane.
ReplyDeleteYour school's Sock Swap is a great idea! Nothing too pricey or obligatory. I, too, LOVE snow. Praying we'll get some - even a dusting - this Winter!
ReplyDeleteThose are both good books! As for the dying, if it helps, they say drowning is actually pretty peaceful as deaths go. Enjoy the last of your summer!
ReplyDeleteHi Lori! I don't enjoy flying. I visited my mom last month and flew from Alabama to Nebraska, but I am hoping that I never have to fly again. It's such a hassle. I hope Josh is doing well and that your school year is off to a good start. Hugs!!
