Tuesday 4 Meme- The Fourth of July

Welcome to Tuesday 4 in memory and honor of our friend Toni Taddeo.
This week, let's talk about the Fourth of July.

1. Do you think the 4th is an important holiday? Why , why not?
Of course.  I am American, so
the 4th of July is the celebration of our country's Independence.  It is a day
to remember we are free.
I wonder if it will offend someone this year and be canceled?
It will not be at my house and my flag will be flying high!

2. How do you celebrate? If you are not American, do you celebrate your

nation's national holiday?
We used to go to fireworks displays.  These days, we may cookout
and then we will have to stay inside with our
dogs all day because of the fireworks.  They are
deathly afraid.  We usually watch a baseball game
 on tv too.

3. In the time of Laura Ingals Wilder,  all Americans read
the Declaration of Independence every year on the
4th and lemonade was a big treat for the town picnic.
Do you read the Declaration of Independence? Or, your
nations important papers?  How about lemonade? Are you a fan?
I do not read any of that stuff on the 4th of July, but it is a really
good idea.  I LOVE lemonade.  Maybe I can read the
Declaration of Independence this year while I am sitting
 with my dogs.

4. Picnic, eat inside the house or eat out for the 4th?
We will cook out, but we will probably bring
it in because of noise.  You never know when fireworks
will be set off around my house.  I live
in the country, so anything goes.

  1. Hi Lori, all our festivities are cancelled in the city. I have decorations up. This sure has been a crazy year! But we still live in the land of the free!

  2. 4th of July celebrations have been cancelled in my area... but they have it out there that anyone can let off fireworks from 6/29 - 7/6..... my poor dog is going nuts... as they have been letting them off way before that!

I also feel that many will be offended by the 4th of July.... I am just so... done! Its been a rough start of the year and I am ready for some normalcy!

    Happy Tuesday!

  4. Oh, I think there are folks who are trying to get it canceled. Here, the park festivities are canceled and social distancing is a must for the fireworks-you won't be allowed on park grounds to watch the fireworks and the city claims the fireworks will be bigger in the air to watch this year. Whatever, I am so over this Covid issue.

ANYWAYS, I enjoyed your answers, Lori. Have a beautiful day friend.

  5. Being a military family our flag flies daily! I know what you mean about living in the country and anything goes! Many things have been canceled here because of COVID, but many others are finding an opportunity to try news things. A local vineyard is having a 4th of July Social "distancing" event with food trucks, but we'll be staying home and BBQing. Have a GREAT rest of the week and Happy 4th!

  7. Its important to read it on July 4 and let kids hear it and to tell them the reason we are free and why we had to fight for it. Its been forgotten and it is one \reason we have the mess we have today. Happy 4th!!

  9. Lots of us answered these questions pretty much in the same way. I'm sad that the big celebrations have been canceled but understand why. Still makes me sad. Hoping next year's celebration will be even bigger and better to make up for missing it this year!

  10. I didn't think about the neighbors' fireworks when I answered, but we will most likely be treated to a long, long night of them. There are many in our neighborhood who set of their own even when the town's fireworks are on. I expect with all the big displays cancelled the home shows will really be something this year. At least we don't have a dog that is scared any more.
