1. Where have you traveled and what is the furthest you've been from home?  We have been to Florida a few times, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Alabama, Tennessee.  I think Florida was the furthest.  We went to Kissimmee to Disney World.

2. Is there a location other than where you are, that you think would be a nice place to live?  I loved Alabama.

3. Do you have a photo or story from a favorite place to visit?

Orange Beach, AL is by far my favorite trip.  We were able to watch the dolphins from our balcony every morning, we went on a dolphin tour.  We relaxed at the beach.  We went to Pensacola, FL to the air museum and we saw the Blue Angels.  We also went up into the Pensacola lighthouse.  There was a storm one day and I got great pictures of the storm over the ocean also.  It was an awesome trip.

4. What dream destination do you have tucked away in  your heart? Do you think you'll be able to visit them one day or are plans in the making?  I want to go back to Orange Beach again and I would like to go stay in the mountains in a cabin.  I think those trips are possibilities.  I would love to visit Italy and France, but I do not think that will ever happen.

1) The song begins by mentioning how it feels to shiver on a rainy night. As you answer these questions, is it chilly ... or rainy ... or dark?  It is all of the above.

2) The lyrics describe a bar at closing time, when the owner announces, "Goodnight, now, it's time to go home." Can you recall a time when you lingered until you closed the joint?  I have been at bars at closing time once or twice back in my college years, but I do not typically close a joint down.

3) This song was written years before it was recorded, back in the days before Dire Straits was a success. Composer/lead singer/lead guitarist Mark Knopfler recalls that, when he was working on "Sultans of Swing," he was worried about paying his gas bill. Is anything troubling you this Saturday?  My heart is very heavy for Australia.  I am praying.  It is just heartbreaking.
 
4) When this song was popular, Sam often played it on the jukebox because, well, who doesn't like Dire Straits? 40 years later, both that  jukebox and the bar it was in are gone. Have you recently been in a restaurant or bar that has a jukebox?  no, I haven't

5) In 1978, the year "Sultans of Swing" topped the charts, Garfield first appeared in newspapers all around the United States. Over the years, it was revealed that the cartoon cat loved lasagna and hated raisins. What's a food you love? What's one that you hate?  I love General Chicken and I hate Creamed Corn...not cream corn in a can, but a recipe called creamed corn...there is a story there, maybe I will tell it another time.  I thought I was going to puke.

6) One of People magazine's top-selling issues of 1978 featured Carrie Fisher and Darth Vader on the cover. The article celebrated the theatrical re-release of Star Wars and announced that the cast was on board for a sequel. How many Star Wars movies have you seen?  several, but I do not care about them enough to know how many or which ones.  I watched them with my husband.

7) The most popular movie of 1978 was Grease. What's your favorite song from the Grease soundtrack?  Oh no you don't...I love that whole soundtrack!

8) In 1978, Yves St. Laurent made fashion news by putting his female runway models in menswear-inspired suits, complete with neckties and pocket squares. Do you know how to tie a windsor knot? Can you fold a handkerchief into a pocket square?  I do not and my dad was great at it.  I wish I would have had him teach me.

9) Random question: You're visiting a friend. He graciously offers you the use of his super-expensive, brand-new luxury sedan for the duration of your stay. Do you take him up on it? Or do you rent a car instead?  I would feel better renting a car worrying I would mess up their nice car.  It just depends.

Tuesday 4 Meme- Around the House

Around the House

1. Do you have pets ? What kind of pets do you have? Photos?  I have two dogs, Molly and Meisha.  Molly is part corgi and part Blue Heeler...she is Mandy's sister (Mandy passed away in November), they share the same mom.  Mandy was full blood corgi.  Meisha is part lab and showed up at our house as a puppy.  Meisha is the first picture and Molly the second.  These two are really sweet doggos.

2. Do you have a weekly menu you plan out? Would you share it with us, or perhaps a short list of meals you make often? It gives other people ideas !  no, but I am excited to read other ideas!

3.Where do you do your grocery shopping? Do you like that store or do you go to others to fill in the gaps?  We go to Sam's, Walmart and Walmart Neighborhood Market.  I thought we had a lot of Walmart's here in Southwest Missouri, then we visited Arkansas where the headquarters are...good grief, it is ridiculous.  They have kind of taken over the area.

4.  What kind of house do you live in or is it an apartment. Describe it. What changes would you make to it if you could?  We live in a small I would call it a single family farmhouse, but we do not live on a farm.  We do have a big yard though.  It is a 3 bedroom/2 bathroom home and we live right in town, but I would still consider this the country.  We have been doing lots of work on it over the past several years.  I am very happy with it.  If we had the money, I would like to change the kitchen.  I just do not know what to do with it.  I would also love to do some more landscaping.

1. January usually has ample amounts of snowfall in parts of the world. Did you ever make snow cream as a kid?

YES!  It tastes like homemade ice cream.  I have made it for Josh too, but we haven't had enough good snow to make it in a long time.

2. January is one of the months with 31 days. What are you going to do with that extra day? most likely work

3.  What is your favorite magazine?  This is hard for me.  I do not read magazines anymore.  I used to like Shape magazine when I was working out.

4.  If you live to be 99 years old, what would you like your life to be like in that last decade?? comfortable

5. The great world of Wikipedia tells me that scientists claim 99% of all documented species are extinct. Which remaining species in the 1% category would you really like to see extinct.  And which species in the 99% category would you like to bring back?  I did not find this list.  I think dinosaurs should stay extinct though, they would kill everything.

6. On January 14, 1986 motorists were required for the first time to wear seat belts?
Do you always buckle up? Why or why not?  I always buckle up.  It is a habit I started when I started driving.

9. Have you said anything in the last 24 hours that you regret?  no, I have mostly been quiet and reading.

10. Have you ever written anything on your blog that you wish you could take back?  I don't think so, I am pretty careful with what I write, but it is my blog, so if I write it...I mean it.

11. Are you the blabber or the blabbee? Tell us your most embarrassing blabbermouth moment.  Maybe a blabbee?  People are always blabbing to me.  It is not embarrassing.

12. How important is a cell phone in your life?  Minimally.  When I am working, I do not look at it all day.  I mostly use it to look at facebook or text.

13. A "cuisine" is typically influenced by and named after geographical regions and cultures. Pretend your blog is a country. What is the name of your cuisine? uhhhh, I don't know.

14. You are the Blog Paparazzi! Which blogger's real photograph are you most interested in getting?  Really?  I am not a blog paparazzi at all.

15. Are you always on time or just a tad late?  on time.

16. Can you think of a time when you were late for something and it was REALLY a big deal?  If I am going to be late, I always let the party in question know.  I was late for work one morning, but I texted the principal and the secretary to let them know.

17. If you were on your way to work and had five minutes to get there, would you stop in the road to rescue a crossing turtle?  no, I have heard that confuses them.

Here's our first Saturday 9 of 2020!

1) Are you feeling warm and cozy as you answer these questions? Yes, I am!

2) This time of year is important to college football fans. Are you watching/have you watched any of the Bowl games this year?  no, not into it this year.

3) Crazy Sam's been cold/flu free so far this winter and credits the Echinacea she takes every morning. Her brother insists she's wasting her money. Do you take any herbal supplements?  no

4) In the video for this song, Erin Bowman is singing in front of lights and ornaments. Are you sorry to see the decorations slowly disappear? Or do you think they should all come down right away?  We take our Christmas things down on New Year's Day.  I hate to see it come down, but that is my chance to clean the house really good before I head back to work.

5) She sings about socks, a scarf and a sweater. Tell us about your favorite sweater.  I have a sweater that is cream colored and it has subtle sparkles in it.  It has black sheer material at the bottom giving it a layered look...it is super cute.

6) Erin credits her 8th grade choir teacher for believing in her and giving her a solo. That helped give her the confidence to go into performing professionally. When you were in 8th grade, did you know what you wanted to be when you grew up?  no, I didn't even know what I wanted to be when I was in college much less 8th grade.  It was years before I became a teacher.  I had to go back to college.

7) This song has been used in commercials for McDonald's and Turner Classic Movies. What commercial have you seen recently? Was it on TV or online?  I am watching tv right now...commercials and all, but nothing is memorable or catching my eye.  I enjoyed the U.S. Cellular commercial over Christmas with the guy singing "switched and got a phone for free...falalalalalala...with no activation fee falalalalalalalala".

8) In 2014, when this song was first released, we lost both Joan Rivers and Robin Williams. What comedian always makes you laugh?  Kevin Hart

9) Random question -- There are two performers in the trapeze act: the one who flies through the air and the one who catches the flier. Which would you rather be?  neither.

Happy NewYear 2020!

The Christmas tree and decorations are put away and the house is cleaned and ready to go for 2020!  I am washing blankets and rugs.  I will continue to work on the house these last few days before I head back to work.  I always feel better heading back to work knowing the house is clean.  It doesn't last long, but we start fresh anyway.
Josh had counseling yesterday and then we watched the NewYear's festivities on tv.  I am always scared to get out on holidays that people are drinking.  Happy New Year 2020!

I also did my One Word for 2020.  I am going to Believe that good things will happen this year.  I know we will have hard times too, but I believe God will get us through anything that is thrown at us.

I also picked out 2 more books for this week.  I finished my books from last week and they were both fantastic!  This week I have:

I just finished Redbird Christmas by Fannie Flagg and it was such a nice feel good Christmas book.  I really enjoyed it.  I am on to Little Fires Everywhere now.  I hope it is good also.  One of my friends at work is going to let me borrow Where the Crawdad's Sing!  I am so excited to read that one!
