Saturday 9- Alfred Hitchcock Presents

Saturday 9

Saturday 9: "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" Theme

This week's song was chosen because this is the last Saturday 9 before Halloween. Are you unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.

1) The Master of Suspense, Alfred Hitchcock, was born in England. Name another pop culture contribution England has made.  The Beatles

2) This week's song is recognized as the theme to Hitchcock's long-running TV show, but "Funeral March for a Marionnette" is a classic piece written for piano in the late 1870s by Charles Gounod. Do you often listen to classical music?  I love classical music, but it is not on the radio anymore here and I do not have much to listen to that I own.

3) Janet Leigh's shower scene in  Hitchcock's Psycho is considered one of the scariest sequences ever filmed. What's the most frightening movie you've ever seen?  I do not watch scary movies anymore, at some point they started giving me nightmares, but when I did "It" by Stephen King scared me to death!  I did not see the new one by the way.

4) Hitchcock admitted that he "never trusted birds," and he took that fear and turned it into the movie, The Birds. Is there a member of the animal kingdom that just gives you "the creeps?"  snakes and mice

5) Halloween will soon be upon us. Will you carve a jack o'lantern this year?  no
6) What candy will trick or treaters get at your house? little candy bars
7)  When you went trick or treating, did you prefer fantasy costumes (like a storybook character) or scary ones (like a monster)? fantasy
8)  Which candy was your favorite? Which one were you disappointed to find in your trick or treat bag?  candy bars were my favorite...I do not know that I was ever disappointed in anything.

9) Which do you find scarier -- cemeteries or haunted houses?  haunted houses...I like cemeteries, I find them peaceful.

  1. IT! Gulp! That book scared me so much I had to restrict myself to reading it only in well-lit public places. (Think McDonald's at the food court.)

  3. Hi Lori, Loved your answers to Saturday 9. I'm usually not a Stephen King fan but I do like a couple of his books turned into TV shows. There was one about a plane with passengers called The Langoliers (TV Mini-Series 1995) a horror miniseries consisting of two episodes of 1½ hours each . the plane flies through a strange light, and most of the passengers and flight crew disappear, leaving behind only personal artifacts. Only those passengers who were asleep remain, and discover the predicament when they wake. It was one I really liked. Have a blessed weekend dear Lori.

  7. I think I've read 2 of King's books and seen one movie (Misery). That's all I will ever read or see. I wonder how he can sleep at night with all that stuff rolling around in his mind????

  8. I must be the only person who did not say the Beatles for that first question. I do like their music too.
