Sunday Stealing- Thought Provoking Questions

Sunday Stealing

1 When was the last time you tried something new?  Friday...my team at school made a Mexican lunch for me for my birthday and they made some things I had never tried and they were delicious!
2
Who do you sometimes compare yourself to?  I do not really compare, but I work with another teacher that is so positive.  I TRY to be like her and boot out the negative.
3
What’s the most sensible thing you’ve ever heard someone say?  I am not sure about the most sensible thing I have ever heard in my life, but this morning at church the Pastor was talking about how situations in our life are all about how we "frame" them, we can either look at the negative aspects of something or we can go into a situation with a good perspective.  It is all about perspective and a good attitude.  What is the good that came from the situation?
4
What gets you excited about life?  Knowing that God is going to do something awesome every single day.
5
What life lesson did you learn the hard way?  God is truly in control and not me.  There are so many times in my life where I thought I was going one direction and God changed it.  It is always a good change though.
6
What do you wish you spent more time doing five years ago? more vacations
7
Do you ask enough questions or do you settle for what you know?  I ask so many questions all of the time or I google what I can.
8
Who do you love and what are you doing about it?  My family.  We spend time together and communicate.  I tell them I love them.
9
What’s a belief that you hold with which many people disagree? I would say it is my passion for doing something about Autism.  I worry about these kids for their future.  There are so many of them and I am concerned there will not be enough people to take care of them in the future.  They are in school now and living with family.  That will not always be the case.  Their parents will die.  Then what?  I know families that all of their kids have autism, so you cannot always depend on the family to step up and take care of them.  What is causing it?  It was not like this when I was in school.

It seems like people are complacent about it.  These are the kids I teach and yes, I worry about them.  BTW, one of my students with autism I had...his mom died over the summer and she was in her 30's, I also had a dad die when I was teaching his son with autism.  These things happen. :(
10 What can you do today that you were not capable of a year ago?  I can eat more things because I had my gall bladder removed.  That is kind of exciting to me.  I am sure I can do more things in the area of education, but I am not sure when I learned what.
11
Do you think crying is a sign of weakness or strength?  strength, it just needs to be done to release emotions sometimes.  I cry when I am angry too.  It is good to be able to control your emotions and yes, I think you can help that through crying.  Sometimes I cry and then I am fine and I can move on.
12
What would you do differently if you knew nobody would judge you?  I am not sure.  If I think of anything, I will update my answer.
13
Do you celebrate the things you do have?  Oh yes!  This goes back to the way I like to look at situations.  If something bad happens, what was the good that came out of it.  I am thankful for the "things" I have too.
14
What is the difference between living and existing?  Maybe you get out there and make a difference in your life...have a job, or you are a friend, maybe you volunteer...actively living...interaction. Existing...maybe those people who are only plugged in to technology all of the time.  I use it too, but I mean people who use it all of the time and never get out and do anything or talk to anyone, even online.  You can make a difference online too.
15
If not now, then when?  Not sure what this means, but I am a do it now person.
16
Have you done anything lately worth remembering?  My co-workers and I plan events together and we go out and enjoy one another.  Friday we had a party for myself and another co-worker.  It will be memorable for me.  I try to make their celebrations memorable too.  We have an outing planned to go shopping soon.  That will be fun too.
17
What does your joy look like today?  I am in a positive place today.  Probably because of the great church service this morning.
18
Is it possible to lie without saying a word?  yes
19
If you had a friend who spoke to you in the same way that you sometimes speak to yourself, how long would you allow this person to be your friend?  Wow!  What a great question!  I think we are all our own worst enemies...we talked about that last week.  I would not want or allow someone to be around me if they treated me the way I treat myself.  Interesting.  How could I judge someone for doing the same thing I do.  I can only handle so much.
20
Which activities make you lose track of time?  facebook
21
If you had to teach something, what would you teach?  I do teach, I teach special education preschool (ECSE)-Early Childhood Special Education.
22
What would you regret not fully doing, being or having in your life?  not traveling more, we really need to get on that.  That is how memories are made.  My husband has a job that does not allow for much vacation.

23Are you holding onto something that you need to let go of?  I have in the past, but I usually am able to let go of things now.  I have learned it only hurts me to hold on to hurt.
24
When you are 80-years-old, what will matter to you the most?  That I loved and spent time with my family and taught them about Jesus and that I know Jesus.

25 When is it time to stop calculating risk and rewards and just do what you know is right?  I always do what I think is right and yes, that comes with risk.

  7. Hi Lori, enjoyed my visit here today.I have a lot of respect and admiration for teacher's that teach special education. Family is important. I am doing a devotion on courage and I went back and read my blog from 2013 when my dad was dying. God gave me the courage to take care of him and stay strong. I know you understand that. Enjoy your weekend. Hugs
