Sunday Stealing- End of Year Questions

https://sundaystealing.blogspot.com/
This logo stolen from Toni

This isn't stolen from anywhere in particular, but it is a questionnaire I have tried to answer each year....maybe it originated with Sunday Stealing; I don't know.  But maybe you'd like to look back on 2018 as well.

What did you do last year that you had not done before? I have mentioned this, but the ladies I work with are always having me try new foods.  They are on keto diets.  The food is pretty good!

Did you keep your New Year's Resolutions/goals for the year and will you make/set more for next year?  What are they? What are your new ones?  I do not make any resolutions.

Did anyone you know give birth? Or become pregnant?  Or adopt?  Two of my friends at work are pregnant

Did anyone you know die? Or have a serious illness/injury?  I had several friend's parents die.

What places have you visited? Landers Theater to see The Nutcracker and Juanita K. Hammons Theater to see Phantom of the Opera.  I also visited a LOT of doctors this year...me and my son.  We went to Hammons Field to see The Springfield Cardinals play, but overall I was super busy with doctors this year.

Any new pets? Lost a pet?  no

What would you like to have next year that you lacked this year (doesn't have to be a physical thing i.e. love, job security, peace of mind...)? financial security and good health for all of my family.

What date from last year will remain etched in your memory and why? I think it will be getting my son's diagnosis of depression and anxiety.  It has taken a long time for him to even get a little bit better.  I pray this year he will feel better.

What was your biggest achievement last year? cleaning the house and finally making time to see the doctors.

Did you get sick or injured?  I have a sinus infection right now I have been battling for about a month.  I went to the doctor Friday and they put me on anti-biotics.

What was the best thing you bought? We bought a new bed and a new chair for me.  We love both of them!

Where did most of your disposable income go (money leftover after you pay for food, medical care, basic clothing, transportation and shelter)? essential oils and make-up

What song will always remind you of last year?  Doesn't have to be a song released last year.  This one is hard.  I am a person that always has a song attached to things, but I have not been impressed with any of the music for a while.  I have been listening to The Cars a lot lately and 80's music.  I think it has been an escape for me.

What do you wish you would have done more of? I feel like we have done just what we needed to do this year.

What do you wish you would have done less of?  worrying

What was your favorite new TV program? Movie? Album/Songs? Or if you didn't pick up any new ones, what are you still watching/listening to? Any recommendations?  New Amsterdam

What was the best book you read this year?  How many did you read?  I am not a reader.  I only read the book She Believes by Debbie Lindell, it was a very inspirational read though.  I loved it.

What did you do on your birthday and how old were you? Did you feel differently?  I had to look back at my blog, but it looks like I was sick then too with a cough.  We had Chinese for my birthday, but that is about it.  The girls at work always do something great for me, they got me a huge mum for my yard, pj's, lotion and my mom made me a fall wreath.  It was my 48th birthday and no I do not feel any different.

What political or social issue stirred you the most?  We had a state issue where they put right to work on the ballot.  My husband is a union laborer, so that one upset me.  I just wish people would stop trying to attack other people.  The union has taken good care of us as far as insurance and my husband's job.  They can spin it anyway they want, but the goal of right to work is to get rid of the union.  It failed bad, yet they are still talking about putting it back on the ballot.  Just don't join a union people...go away!

Who was the most interesting new person you met? My son's psychiatrist is pretty interesting.  He is smart and has been so helpful knowing exactly what to do to help Josh.

What changed at your job?  We added another preschool special education classroom

What changed in your home? We did that huge clean-up at our house this year, there is so much less clutter.

Describe how a relationship changed.  I feel like my relationship with my son became closer, because we were trying to get him better and he was scared.

Do you think you are still the same person that you were at the beginning of the year?  How so?  I do think I am the same person.

Summarize the year in three words or less. Bonus points for doing it in one word. Explain. wellness.  I have not been seeing any doctors for many years because I have been taking care of my dad with alzheimer's and helping my mom.  My dad passed away, so last summer I decided I was going to go see the doctors and make sure I am ok.  I only had hypothyroidism, but I was at so many doctors catching up on visits.  I also had my son Josh at the doctor.  He was diagnosed with depression and anxiety and is in counseling now getting help.  He also had his wisdom teeth out.  It was a busy summer.

How have people around you changed? no

What have you learned throughout the year? (Other than crafts) patience

What was your favorite outfit for warm weather? Cooler weather? sweats and t-shirt for both.

Did you learn any new crafts or techniques? What was your favorite thing you made? no

What changed about your physical appearance? (Hair? Wrinkles? New makeup style? Etc) I have curly hair, so I have tried some curly girl products that I have enjoyed that made my hair look nice.  I am always tinkering with make-up.

What are your hopes and dreams for the new year?  (Some suggestions-family, travel, work, lifestyle, hobbies, pets, appearance)  I just want everyone to be healthy and happy and I would like to do some fun things to make memories....baseball games, swimming.  I am hoping this year is not constant doctor visits like last year.

  2. I don't actually own sweats. :D I wear leggings when I'm just hanging out at home (or jeans).

  3. Right to work really is about killing unions. I live in a right-to-work state and know it is so. My husband is in a union, though, and we are strong union supporters. I hope it does not get back on the ballet in your state. Have a good holiday!

  5. Depression and anxiety are such misunderstood issues. I'm glad you got a diagnosis for your son and can begin working toward solutions and ways to cope. Merry Christmas to you and your family, Lori!

  6. My favorite scent is vetiver but as an essential oil - not so great. Smells like a hamster cage. Has to be blended. My other fave is oakmoss but lots of luck finding it since the IFRA banned oakmoss in perfumes. Maybe from an independent perfumer but not Guerlain or Caron. And oakmoss has to be blended, too.

    Merry Christmas!

  7. Lori, I am so sorry that your year was so rough. I pray that 2019 is the year that things turn around for Josh. I also pray that you continue to improve and get your meds figured out if you haven't already. I think you need a nice beach vacation. Come down to Gulf Shores/Orange Beach and we can get together! :D I hope you had a merry Christmas and that your New Year is blessed!! <3
