NATIONAL PIGS-IN-A-BLANKET DAY
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
1. Typically served as an hors d'oeuvre, have you ever made or had a Pig-in-a-Blanket? Do you like Pigs-in-a-Blanket? I have had them and I do love them, but I do not make them.
2.
Pigs-in-a-blanket are also known as devils on horseback, kilted
sausages, and wiener winks. (Seriously.) Please make up another name
for this fun little appetizer! Weenie roll-up
3. In
the UK, pigs-in-blankets are small sausages, or chipolatas wrapped up
in bacon. Which country's version is most appealing to your taste buds? U.S. The U.K one is too much meat for me.
4. The first written record of pigs-in-a-blanket occurs in Betty Crocker's Cooking for Kids
in 1957. In this digital world, do you still have a favorite cookbook
you use most of the time? Is there a recipe you can share with us from
that cookbook? I use my Betty Crocker Cookbook sometimes, but I have a stash of favorite recipes that are just handwritten and those are the ones I use the most.
5. What is your favorite cooking show on TV? Pioneer Woman
6. Tell us something random about your week, please! I enjoyed my 3 day weekend so much! I watched Good Friday service on Friday, then the St. Louis Cardinals game on Saturday and Sunday Easter church services. The week is going good so far.
Weenie roll up is perfect... I was lame with my answer.. lol Have a great Wednesday!
ReplyDeleteGlad you are having a a good week, Lori! I enjoyed your answers and chuckled at Weenie Roll-up. Good one!! The Pioneer Woman seems to be loved by many!
ReplyDeleteThanks for joining in today!!
Delete(My mother's and grandmother's) hand-written recipes are priceless! A few Christmases ago I had one silk-screened(?) onto dish towels for my DIL and both granddaughters.
ReplyDeleteGlad is week is going well so far! I hope it continues! Have a great one Lori!!
ReplyDeleteI agree about that UK version! Glad you had a nice weekend. Saturday was beautiful here and Sunday not bad but colder and extremely windy. I had to hold onto my sweater!
ReplyDeleteGoing by the responses of the Medley crowd, there must only be about 3 cooking shows on TV. We all seem to like one of just a couple shows. I don't get to see the Pioneer Woman very often, but I check out her blog and have all her cookbooks. I've made several of her recipes and they are always scrumptious! My daughter has her own set of PW cookbooks, too.
ReplyDeleteI really need a 3 day weekend. Working at a public university does not afford us that Easter weekend as a holiday, really. We don't have another day off until Memorial Day!
ReplyDeleteI've never made "pigs in a blanket" either. I can't believe it but the schools in Oklahoma (where our daughter lives) do not acknowledge Good Friday. It's just another work day for them. Boo!
