Saturday 9- Always Remember Us This Way

Always Remember Us This Way (2018)

Unfamiliar with this week's song. Hear it here.

1) In this song, Lady Gaga sings about the Arizona sky and California gold. Have you visited many of our western states?  no, it seems like we always go South and East.

2) She sings that she's overwhelmed and can't find the words to express herself. Do you find it easier to share your feelings verbally or in writing?  I am better in writing, I think because I have more time to think about what I want to say.

3) Her real name is Stefani Germanotta. She took her stage name from the Queen song, Radio Gaga. Do you have a favorite Queen song?  I love all of them.

4) Her dad is Joe Germanotta, president of GuestWifi, a company that enables hotels and restaurants to offer high-speed wifi to their customers. Do you consider yourself tech savvy?  I do ok,  but probably not tech savvy.  I think when I was staying home with Josh (SAHM) and I was able to spend more time online, I was able to learn a lot more, but when I went back to work I did not have time.  I do think I am much more comfortable than some people are doing things online.

5) Early in her career, Lady Gaga performed songs for a children's audio book called The Portal in the Park.
Tell us about the last book you finished -- did you listen to an audiobook, or read a download to an electronic device or a bound book with pages?  So, our library is still closed and I have read all of my books with pages...so I found a website where I have been able to borrow books using my library card.  The last book I finished (audio book) was Gone Girl and I am listening to Dark Places now by the same author and while I like these kinds of books, I am changing genres for my next book.  These are pretty dark.  I saw Water for Elephants is available.  Has anyone read that?  I have chosen to borrow audio books for now.

6) She prefers dogs to cats and tea to coffee. Do you agree with her?  Totally!  I LOVE dogs and tea.  I do not drink coffee at all.

7) Back in 2015, she appeared at the Academy Awards, performing a medley to celebrate the 50th anniversary of The Sound of Music. The movie's star, Julie Andrews, graciously came onstage to thank Gaga for her showstopping performance. Whom did you most recently thank?  Today one of our parents came up to bring me a teacher gift...I do not live in district, so she drove 25 minutes or so to get to me...that was super nice.  I did get to see our student too...she started crying and saying she missed me.  It was so nice to see her.  I told them thank-you.  She bought me a bird to paint!  Super cool!

8) In 2018, when this song was first released, retailer Toys R Us closed all its stores and went out of business. What's the last toy you purchased?  I had a birthday parade I went to a couple of weeks ago, I got him a football along with some other things.

9) Random question: How has social media made your life better?  I have enjoyed being able to keep in touch with former friends from high school, college and also my family that I do not see very often.  I get to see updates, pictures, etc.

  2. The author of those books, Gillian Flynn, looks so wholesome! It's hard to believe those dark and twisted stories could come from such a sweet face.

The story about your student was lovely. I'm so glad I read it.

  3. That was so nice of your student's mom and what a testament to you as a teacher that the little girl was so touched!
Shame on me, when I talked about social media, I forgot to mention how it keeps me in touch with distant family members that I'd probably otherwise have little to no contact with. Lots of school mates, though, but I do think it's ushered in the death of the class reunion.
    Have a great weekend, Lori!

  4. Lori - What a wonderful moment with your student. I know that meant so much to you!

I don't enjoy audio books but I'm intrigued by the website for borrowing books. It's so sad that libraries are closed. Who would have ever imagined such a thing? Have a great weekend.

  6. Water For Elephants is good but it also has its dark moments. That young student who cried because she misses you... how sweet.
