Saturday 9: Who Are You? (1977)
Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.
1) This song, originally recorded by The Who, was the theme of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, which ran from 2000 to 2015. Did you watch it? Were you a fan? I never watched any of the CSI shows.
2) When the show premiered, Gil Grissom (William Petersen) was the CSI team's supervisor. Gil's mother was deaf, and so he was fluent in American Sign Language. Can you communicate using ASL? I actually can a little bit, you almost have to be able to working in special education. ASL is one of the first types of communication the speech therapists will try to teach non verbal kids...that or PECS (picture exchange).
3) His assistant is blood-splatter analyst Catherine Willows (Marg Helgenberger). Catherine's family moved often, which made it hard for her to get traction in her studies. She finally just dropped out of high school. She later got her GED, and even graduated from college. Have you ever considered going back to school? I graduated from college when I was 22, but I did go back to college to get my certification to teach several years ago. I am done now, I don't want to go back anymore.
4) Though set in Las Vegas, most of CSI was filmed in Santa Clarita, CA. Santa Clarita is also home to Six Flags Magic Mountain amusement park. Do you enjoy roller coasters? I did when I was young, I am not sure if I would now or not. I do enjoy smaller roller coasters still. It has been years since I have been on a big one.
5) The vocalist on the CSI theme, Roger Daltry of the Who, made a cameo appearance on the show during season 7. Do you have a favorite Who song? I like Who Are You and My Generation.
6) CSI became a franchise, followed by CSI: Miami and CSI: New York. If we could organize a Saturday 9 field trip, which of these CSI cities would you prefer we visit: Las Vegas, Miami or New York? I have always wanted to visit Miami.
7) In 2000, the last original Peanuts comic strip was published. How many Peanuts characters can you name? Snoopy, Charlie Brown, Lucy, Linus, Woodstock. I have people texting me, so I am blank now.
8) Also in 2000, media giant Time Warner merged with America Online, the email provider. It's estimated that 74% of us check our email at least once/day. Are you one of the 74%? Oh yes, I have to check email for work....all year long.
9) Random question -- Did you more recently cut and paste, or delete? I deleted some text from this post I pasted.

DeleteDidn't follow CSI either. I forgot Woodstock!
ReplyDeleteI never watched CSI either! If nobody watched it, how did it stay on so long? :)
ReplyDeleteIt was so popular, though, that when I was recently called for jury duty, we were asked in voir dire if we were fans. Apparently it's affected how jurors expect to see evidence presented.
PS Are you ready for those double headers?
I am ready for the double headers if we do not make your players sick. I am excited to see the Cardinals again, but this is ridiculous.
DeleteHard to believe the season is 1/3 over ...
DeleteI've watched those shows. I know some sign language (I am partially death and can read lips better than sign language). I enjoyed your answers. Have a beautiful day, friend.
ReplyDeleteI do not like CSi programs either... sort of depressing and yucky! I rather like to entertained with upliting stories or song and dance! HAAH Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteIt seems that most of us check our email multiple times a day
ReplyDeleteI'm a frequent email checker--especially at school. A lot of students don't like asking questions during class so they email me.
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine not checking my email several times a day, but my husband doesn't.
ReplyDeleteI check email a lot, too. At the moment it I am constantly being spammed on my blog so I check to delete those. Be glad when they move on to someone else.
ReplyDeleteSmall rollercoasters. Why didn't I think of it?

ReplyDeleteInteresting to know the therapists use sign language with non-verbal kids. It makes sense, but I just never thought about it. Hope you've had a great day!
