Saturday 9- Work Hard, Play Harder

Work Hard, Play Harder

Saturday 9: Work Hard, Play Harder (2009)

Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.

1) We're celebrating the last holiday of summer by going country. Who is your favorite country music artist?  Garth Brooks or Dolly Parton.

2) Gretchen Wilson sings that on Tuesdays, she gets up before dawn. This morning, did you awaken on your own, or did you need an alarm clock?  This morning I woke up before my alarm on my own.

3) She tells us that she doesn't waste her time on manicures or spay tans. How about you? Have you recently spent any money at the salon?  Before school started I got my hair cut and colored.

4) She sings that she's the first to clock in at work. Have you ever worked a job that required you to punch a time clock?   Yes

5) Gretchen Wilson says she is a big fan of McDonald's and tries to eat there once a day when she's on tour. In terms of sales, America's 3 most popular fast-food lunch destinations are McDonald's, Starbucks and Subway. If you could choose a gift card to one of those three, which would you select?  I do not drink coffee, so definitely not Starbucks.  I might go with McDonald's because I like to grab their sweet tea a lot.  Have I mentioned our Principal has got us Sonic drinks 2 times already?  She is the bomb.  I also like Subway though...mostly their cookies, we go to a different sub shop when eating subs. I will go with McDonald's.  Can you tell I am writing this late at night, it is my bedtime and I am talking in circles.

6) Gretchen has endorsed Redneck Riviera Whiskey. What's your favorite adult beverage?  I do not drink alcohol.

Since this Monday is Labor Day, the holiday established to celebrate the American worker …

7) Approx. 10% of Americans are self employed. Have you ever been your own boss?  no, but all of my brothers-in-law and a lot of the rest of Karl's (my husband) family own their own businesses.  We have realtors, carpet cleaners, heating and air.

8) According to Monster.com, 50% of workers have left a job to get away from a boss. Are you one of the 50%?  Yes

9) Farmers feel the impact of extreme weather events. Have you ever had a job that required you to be outdoors most of the time?  No, even when I was young I was not really interested in being outside all of the time like that for working.

  1. My husband drinks a lot of McDonald's sweet tea, too. I don't know how you all can drink that stuff. Too sweet for me. That's so nice of your boss to buy the Sonic drinks for everyone. We have a sonic about half and hour's drive from us so we never go. If we are near it we eat somewhere else because it's in an area crowded with restaurants. Happy Saturday, Lori!

  2. #9 -- You and me both! I don't mind the cold so much as the heat. I couldn't handle it.

  4. We had a landscaping business in Alabama. We worked outside and I have to say, I never want to do that again. Actually, selling the business and the machines helped us move here...now we are stuck financially (so it seems). ANYWAYS...I enjoyed your answers, Lori. Have a great Saturday.

  7. Garth Brooks and Dolly Parton are such good singers. It was hard to pick a favorite among so many.
Hope that your family members can all weather this storm. No telling how long it will rage through our country.
Starbucks has my favorite milky tea and also cookies.
Here's to the working gals staying safe! And all their guys.
